Mercenary’s War -
Chapter 625 - 625 Six Hundred and Eighteen Five Minutes
625: Chapter Six Hundred and Eighteen: Five Minutes 625: Chapter Six Hundred and Eighteen: Five Minutes The moon was not yet risen, and darkness enveloped the ground.
Only the brief flashes from gun muzzles and explosions illuminated the darkened Gesale.
The cabin door opened, and Gao Yang looked down; their target was right beneath their feet.
As the ruler of Gesale, Musa Moye’s house was inevitably the largest, best, and most fortified, and after being transformed into a stronghold, it was certainly the most defensively secure.
Musa Moye’s house was a two-story building with a large yard filled with flowers and plants.
Through the night vision device, the dark green flora looked eerie, like something out of a horror movie.
The yard was spacious enough for a helicopter to land directly, and it seemed very quiet, as if no one would stay outside under the barrage of mortar shells that had been falling for days.
Musa Moye’s residence was not too far from the British defensive zone, but it was unlikely that the British could come to aid in a short time.
It looked like an airborne assault was the inevitable choice.
After taking a deep breath, Gao Yang said in a deep voice through the intercom, “Three Cannons, make some noise.”
Upon receiving the command, the artillery fire intensified immediately.
The thunderous explosions became one continuous ruckus, sufficiently masking the loud noise of the helicopter descending.
Gao Yang shouted to the people in the cabin, “Turn on the IR lights, check your weapons one last time, get ready for the drop!”
Directly landing on the ground was faster and safer than descending by ropes.
Amidst the sounds of loading weapons, Gao Yang shouted through the intercom, “Thunderbolt landing!
Lightning cover!”
The helicopter began to descend, and until it touched down completely, everything was out of their control.
Gao Yang, watching the rapidly approaching ground, felt his tensed nerves begin to relax.
At that point, being nervous was useless.
Gao Yang’s helicopter landed with seven people aboard, while another helicopter stayed in the air to provide cover.
Aside from using the 23mm autocannon and rockets on the aircraft, Glolov would provide support with a light machine gun from the open side door, Tommy acting as the assistant gunner.
As for Cui Bo, he would offer precision shooting from the air if needed, though the chances of that were slim at this time.
Finally, the helicopter touched down on the ground.
Gao Yang, guarding the door, bellowed, “Go!”
Li Jinfang was the first to dash out of the door, followed by Eileen. After the two of them jumped out of the hatch, Gao Yang immediately followed.
Musa Moye’s residence was still far from the front lines and possibly deemed not too dangerous, which is why he did not set a sentry in the yard.
Observing from the air, there didn’t seem to be anyone inside.
Once Gao Yang stepped out of the plane, he indeed found no one there.
The house looked pitch-black, not a speck of light to be seen.
The two-story building was engulfed in darkness.
The helicopter had already landed, and the white front door remained tightly shut with no one coming out to check.
Gao Yang’s first reaction was to wonder if the building was empty.
Although it seemed unlikely, the calmness he observed made Gao Yang couldn’t help but wonder if they were hitting an empty target.
Frey was the fourth to jump out of the helicopter.
By then, Li Jinfang and Eileen had not discovered any targets to shoot at and were already running to either side of the front door.
Gao Yang ran towards the white door with his shotgun ready, while Li Jinfang and Eileen took positions on each side.
As Frey ran towards the door, he had already gripped a grenade in his hand.
The white door was wooden, and the double door type that swung together appeared sturdy and upscale, a rarity in a place like Somalia, even the door handles shone golden.
Gao Yang sprinted to the front door.
Li Jinfang readied his gun, and Eileen had pulled pins from two shock grenades.
Gao Yang was too familiar with the door breach coordination with Li Jinfang and Frey.
Without even looking, he ran up to the front door and didn’t bother whether it was locked or not, he simply aimed at where the lock was and fired.
Shooting directly at the lock, Li Jinfang kicked forcefully, flinging the door open.
By the time Frey had thrown in the four shock grenades, Gao Yang and Li Jinfang had already moved aside.
Only then did Eileen toss her shock grenades into the house.
With intense flashes and bangs erupting inside, Li Jinfang spun around and charged into the house.
Gunshots echoed as soon as he entered, followed closely by Gao Yang who stormed in after him.
As Gao Yang rushed inside the house, the last man off the helicopter, Bruce, had just stepped on the ground.
Upon entering the house, Gao Yang was shocked to find that the number of people inside far exceeded his wildest imaginations.
Musa Moye’s living room wasn’t small, but with over a hundred people crammed inside, the 100-plus square meter space felt incredibly crowded when all he saw were faces upon faces.
The effect of the shock grenade caused most people in the living room to cover their eyes; they were stumbling all over the place.
Gao Yang’s eyes widened as he realized he didn’t even need to aim—firing his weapon would surely hit someone.
When Eileen also rushed into the house, she too was startled.
Immediately after, her gun fired in rapid succession.
At this moment, spraying bullets with the automatic fire wouldn’t waste many rounds.
Gao Yang only had seven bullets left in his chamber, but as he fired, he started to rapidly reload, applying the continuous shooting technique he had learned from Simon, and it was coming in very handy now.
The three of them moved to the side with their guns blazing, clearing the way for those who followed.
By the time Frey, the fourth person, and Rafael, the fifth, stormed into the room, the floor was already littered with bodies.
As those in front fell, those behind were still dizzily trying to figure out what was happening.
Some fired their guns, but they couldn’t find the enemy amidst the chaos.
Their gunfire only ended up hitting their own people.
There were too many people, the majority of whom were standing because there wasn’t even room to sit.
Li Jinfang’s gunfire didn’t stop once he started shooting, as he too could keep firing without interruption to change magazines.
As his shooting rate was so fast, by the time he was loading his fourth magazine, his gun barrel had turned red hot, and the metal Picatinny rail on the front handguard was too hot to hold, which is when Li Jinfang finally ceased firing.
Within a brief period, Gao Yang fired over forty shots, and each one found its mark.
Although he fired the fewest bullets, due to the stopping power of the shotgun, one round could take down a person, making him the one with the highest kill count.
When there was no one left standing in the living room, the gunshots ceased, and in less than a minute, Gao Yang and his team had carried out an extremely efficient massacre.
The phrase ‘blood ran like a river’ wasn’t an overstatement; by that time, the floor in the living room was completely drenched in blood.
Their boots slipped on the marble floor, making sounds reminiscent of walking on a road after heavy rain.
With so many people, Gao Yang and his team couldn’t afford to show mercy, nor could they afford to hesitate.
If they gave someone a chance to open fire, there was no telling what might happen.
Once everyone in the living room was down, Gao Yang was unable to discern whether Musa Moye was among the fallen.
There was a spiral staircase in the living room leading to the second floor.
When the gunfight erupted in the living room, people tried to descend from the second floor but were all shot by Frey and Rafael.
Once the first floor was cleared, Gao Yang quickly took in the scene.
The walls were lined with sandbags, all windows were tightly blocked with sandbags without leaving any shooting holes, and there were several doors in the living room, of which only one was open while the others were closed with no knowledge of whether there were people behind them.
Quickly gesturing, Rafael covered the staircase with his gun to prevent anyone from the second floor from coming down.
Each of the remaining men secured a closed door, and then Gao Yang, Li Jinfang, and Frey quickly advanced to what appeared to be the main bedroom door.
Common sense suggested that the second floor might be more dangerous due to possible shelling, so Musa Moye would be on the first floor.
With so many people in the living room, it was unlikely that Musa Moye was out there.
If he was alone, he would definitely be in his own bedroom.
Though this might not have been the case, it was the most logical inference they had.
Taking position behind the door, Gao Yang bellowed, “Musa Moye, come out and surrender, or else we’ll kill you!”
There seemed to be some movement behind the door, but no one responded.
Gao Yang nodded, then followed the usual routine—regardless of whether the door was locked or not, he shot the lock first, Li Jinfang kicked open the door, followed by Frey throwing in a shock grenade.
After the grenade was thrown, a loud shout came from inside the bedroom, and then someone inside opened fire, but all their bullets ended up in the ceiling.
The intense flash and noise from the shock grenade temporarily blinded people and disturbed their balance, causing them to fall and lose their sense of direction completely.
So, after the grenade fully took effect, those affected thought they were firing at their intended direction, but in reality, they were way off, simply sending the bullets flying.
A magazine only holds thirty rounds; if the trigger is held down without release, the bullets will be spent in a few seconds.
Gao Yang stopped Li Jinfang from entering the bedroom, waiting for the gunfire to stop.
Once it did, Gao Yang swiftly entered.
Inside the bedroom were two people, a man and a woman.
The man was lying on the floor, yelling and pulling the trigger of his AK-74U towards the ceiling—though his gun was completely out of bullets.
The woman was shrieking by the bed.
With just a glance, Gao Yang knew the man was the Musa Moye he was looking for, distinguishable by his white robe and big beard.
Li Jinfang approached, kicked Musa Moye in the head, knocking him out, then dragged him out of the room.
Ignoring the screaming woman, after exiting the bedroom, Gao Yang signaled rapidly.
Eileen stepped up to help Li Jinfang carry Musa Moye out quickly, the others remained on alert, while Rafael took off his backpack and placed it in a corner of the room after surveying for a moment.
Once Rafael set the backpack down, Gao Yang gestured, and the team retreated from the house, then quickly made their way back to the helicopter.
As the helicopter took off again, people started firing from the shooting holes left on the second floor windows, and others rushed out of the house shooting at the helicopter.
Rafael pressed a button and a two-story building collapsed thunderously, turning completely to rubble.
Gao Yang checked his watch; the entire operation, up to the point the house was destroyed, had taken exactly five minutes.
