Mercenary’s War -
Chapter 540 - 540 536 Various Incidents at the Wedding
540: Chapter 536: Various Incidents at the Wedding 540: Chapter 536: Various Incidents at the Wedding In a modestly sized church, the wedding commenced.
Gao Yang, clad in a solemn suit, escorted Yelena who was wearing a pink floor-length gown.
They gracefully walked up to the Priest.
However, their roles were that of the best man and maid of honor.
After reaching the Priest who was conducting the ceremony, they parted and stood to the left and right.
When the wedding rings were placed on the Bible in front of the Priest, the main characters took the stage.
Frey and Ella slowly walked up to the Priest.
The Priest looked at Frey and Ella and slowly said, “Good day.
Under the witness of God, in this holy church, we are gathered here today for the sacred wedding of this gentleman and this lady.
Now, I ask both of you, do either of you think your marriage vows are unlawful?”
After exchanging glances, Frey and Ella said in unison, “I do not.”
The Priest, looking sternly at the audience, said solemnly, “If anyone present has any reason why this marriage should not take place, speak now against this union.”
Of course, there was only silence.
After a brief pause, the Priest nodded slowly and addressed Frey, “Frey Smith, do you take Ella Kenner to be your lawfully wedded wife?”
Frey nodded excitedly and said, “I do!”
The Priest then looked at Ella and said, “Ella Kenner, do you take Frey Smith to be your lawfully wedded husband?”
Ella, overcome with excitement, glanced at Frey, then nodded and said, “I do.”
The Priest, facing their smiles, said, “Please exchange your wedding rings now.”
The two wedding rings were placed on the Bible.
Frey picked up one and, with deep affection, slid it onto Ella’s left ring finger.
After placing it on Ella, she picked up the other ring and put it on Frey’s hand.
After both had their rings on, the Priest declared loudly, “By the legal authority vested in me by the laws of the United States of America, I now pronounce you, Frey Smith and Ella Kenner, as legally married.
Now, Frey Smith, you may kiss your wife.”
When the Priest announced that Frey could kiss Ella, he lifted the veil covering Ella’s face and gently kissed her.
Just then, applause erupted suddenly, with Gao Yang and others even blowing loud whistles.
Although few attended the wedding, the atmosphere was fervent.
Gao Yang knew all too well how difficult it was for the young but tumultuously in love couple, Frey and Ella, to get married and he genuinely felt happy for Frey.
As Frey and Ella walked back from the stage, Frey, looking moved, said to Gao Yang, “Boss, no, Sir, no, now I should call you Mr.
Gao, but it’s hard for me to be so formal.
Alright, on this special day, Boss, I want to formally express my gratitude.
If you hadn’t taken me and Ella out of South Africa, I can’t imagine what I would be like now, nor what Ella would be like.
Boss, you are the guide in my life, and I will live forever grateful to you.”
Gao Yang, deeply moved, patted Frey on the shoulder and said, “Brother, I am honored to have you by my side, with all of us.”
Overwhelmed, Frey hugged Gao Yang tightly, nodded, and then went to embrace each person attending his wedding, ending with a heartfelt hug with his mother.
Watching Frey embrace his mother, Gao Yang’s eyes moistened as he wondered what his own mother and father would be like if it were his wedding day.
Looking at Frey, everyone was moved,
after the formal wedding ceremony in the church had ended, it was time for the reception.
Since it had just entered February and New York was still very cold, it wasn’t suitable for the traditional American outdoor wedding reception, so the venue for the reception was set in a very nice hotel.
At Frey’s wedding, there truly wasn’t a single outsider, although Frey didn’t have many relatives, those who attended were his best friends, with the only exception being a neighbor who was very close to his mother, Mrs.
Smith, a widow from Latvia.
The widow Cui Bo planned to introduce to Tommy.
When Cui Bo told Gao Yang that she was the person he planned to introduce to Tommy, Gao Yang was indeed impressed; he had originally taken Cui Bo and his group’s words as merely teasing Tommy, but after meeting the widow, he genuinely thought Tommy should try his luck with her.
If introductions were to be made, nobody else needed to do it, as the hostess Mrs.
Smith would handle it.
Mrs.
Smith introduced Gao Yang to the widow from Latvia, Vita Abolkinna.
If Gao Yang hadn’t known this woman was in her forties, he would have definitely thought Vita was just over thirty.
Latvia is one of the three Baltic countries, a nation famous for its beautiful women.
Most importantly, it also has the most disproportionate gender ratio in the world, with significantly more women than men.
After briefly chatting for a few moments, Gao Yang immediately found Tommy, who was sitting and drinking, pulled him up, and he and Cui Bo nonchalantly guided Tommy towards Vita.
Afterwards, they didn’t need to interfere anymore; Mrs.
Smith naturally introduced Tommy and Vita to each other, even though she wasn’t very familiar with Tommy.
Tommy was looking quite sharp today; he had spent six thousand dollars on a suit and then less than one thousand dollars on a pair of leather shoes.
Although he spent the least amount of money among everyone, it pained Tommy greatly; in his own words, he had never worn such expensive clothes in his life.
“Clothes make the man, just as the saddle makes the horse.” Dressed in a new suit, Tommy looked quite dapper.
Crucially, the guy truly had a knack; when he began to speak with refined manners and every move he made started to matter, he really did give off a thorough gentleman’s vibe.
Seeing the two single individuals start to sit down and chat, Cui Bo clapped his hands and whispered, “It’s a done deal, as long as Tommy isn’t blind or gay, I can’t believe he won’t be moved.”
At that moment, Li Jinfang walked up to them, sighing and saying, “The youngest, Frey, is married, and Brother Yang is already booked too.
Yet the two of us can’t even find a partner.
Ah, the disparity.”
Gao Yang looked at Li Jinfang and said, “What’s the matter with you, are you in a hurry to leave now that the wedding is over?”
Li Jinfang shook his head and said, “Not in a hurry, we’ll definitely focus on our own matters here.
What’s up?
Is there something?”
Gao Yang nodded and said, “I’ve been thinking these past few days, our team is so small, there’s no real need to insist on uniform weaponry.
As long as the caliber and ammunition are compatible, that’s sufficient.
So, I plan to let each of you pick the gun that suits you best, not pursuing uniformity like before.
Hence, we’re all going to Portland tomorrow to find Jack, and you guys will pick out the most suitable guns for yourselves.” (To be continued.
