Mercenary’s War -
Chapter 485 - 485 482 Charge Through
485: Chapter 482: Charge Through 485: Chapter 482: Charge Through A Gang attacked Ivan for reasons unknown, dragging the Satan Mercenary Corps into the fray, a testament to the severity of gang brawls.
Then, the Satan Mercenary Corps pulled the Angel Mercenary Corps into the battle and annihilated two police SWAT teams, in addition to shooting down four helicopters from the Jaguar Corps along with a squad, escalating gang skirmishes to the level of warfare against Colombian military forces.
When neither Angel nor Satan could handle what came next, Grand Ivan stepped in, and once he did, things really got out of hand.
Grand Ivan’s involvement was bound to be extraordinary, and after FAEC made an official statement, neither the Colombian government nor the military could tolerate it anymore.
The Colombian government and FAEC were old rivals, after all.
While FAEC’s power couldn’t match the government troops, they were seasoned adversaries who had been fighting the government army for decades.
If the government forces could have obliterated FAEC, the latter wouldn’t have controlled several provinces for so many years with countless battles waged.
It was precisely because FAEC was formidable that, following a strongly worded official statement, the situation in Colombia became extremely tense.
The tension was unavoidable; if FAEC and the government forces restarted hostilities, it would be more than just an assault—this would be a civil war, or at least a situation teetering on the brink of one.
When FAEC said they would take action, it was never just talk; it meant that they were indeed ready for a real fight.
After FAEC made their statement, the Angel Mercenary Corps’ informants began relaying non-stop intelligence.
The government troops immediately heightened their alert status, and soon thereafter the air force stationed near Bogota went into full combat readiness.
The military forces began to mobilize; essentially, the troops near Bogota were fully activated in preparation for any potential FAEC assault on the city.
When a small FAEC unit launched an attack on the Eighth Brigade Mountain Battalion on Highway 50, which was initially positioned to intercept Gao Yang and his group, the situation escalated to its peak.
With both a formal declaration and actual military action, even though it was a brief exchange of fire without significant casualties on either side, FAEC proved with their actions that they were serious.
The Eighth Brigade Mountain Battalion, with the aid of Super Tucano aircraft, suffered no casualties and managed to kill two FAEC members and injure at least a dozen more.
The extent of the casualties indicated that the engagement was not particularly intense.
However, upon hearing this news, the government military’s higher-ups immediately raised the level of alert once again, and everyone’s attention was completely drawn to the north of Bogota.
Grand Ivan had caused a considerable commotion, but as the initial excitement passed, Gao Yang began to worry.
If the situation grew too tense and Bogota was completely sealed off by the military, it would backfire on their plans.
As Gao Yang was filled with anxiety, Grand Ivan called again.
As soon as Gao answered the phone, Grand Ivan said directly, “You have half a day to escape.
FAEC can’t handle the consequences of waging war against the government forces.
FAEC will issue a statement at six o’clock in the evening, announcing the end of the retaliation operation, so you better hurry.”
Gao Yang replied immediately, “We have enough time; we can leave the Bogota urban area in twenty minutes.
Once we reach the rainforest, things will be easier.”
“There are no significant armed groups near the southern outskirts of Bogota, and I have no contact with the smaller ones.
So, after this point, you’re on your own; what I can do is arrange for someone to meet you, but that’s about it.
The leader of the organization I got in touch with is too timid to wage war against the government forces, but they will provide you with any weapons you need.”
Without hesitation, Gao Yang said, “Anti-air missiles, anti-aircraft machine guns, mortars, rocket launchers, grenades, especially anti-air weapons—the more, the better.
Hold on for the rest.”
Gao Yang covered the phone and asked Nate, “We’ve got someone to meet us and provide weapons.
Besides what I’ve mentioned, do you think we need anything else?”
Nate shook his head, “We only lack anti-air weapons; we’re good with everything else.”
Getting Nate’s response, Gao Yang picked up the phone again and said, “For weapons, we mainly need anti-air ones; as many anti-air missiles as possible would be best.”
Grand Ivan sounded a bit troubled.
“Everything else is easy, but I’m not sure if the person meeting you has anti-air missiles.
Whatever they have, you can choose to take it.
If they don’t, I’ll figure something else out.
Take down this number and contact the person who will meet you right away.
Also, Uriyangko is already on his way; he’ll help you.”
After jotting down the number Grand Ivan gave him, Gao Yang immediately hung up and dialed the number, but to his frustration, the call wouldn’t go through.
“Report, there’s a traffic jam ahead, and the vehicles are moving very slowly.
There seems to be a checkpoint set up.”
Hearing the voice through his earpiece, Gao Yang stopped trying to make the call.
Despite not being able to leave the city before the military completed the blockade, breaking through a checkpoint would undoubtedly be much easier than surviving an aerial strike while breaching the defenses of a mountain battalion.
Nate had the same plan and didn’t hesitate to say, “Scout out the number of people and their equipment at the blockade.
Have the vehicles gather and keep personnel on board to avoid early detection.
Prepare to launch an attack when we’re close enough to force our way through.”
To avoid detection, Gao Yang’s convoy had spread out quite widely.
Now, regrouping would take some time.
While still a good distance from the checkpoint, the leading cars stopped by the roadside, waiting for the convoy to regroup.
Finally, the vehicle sent for reconnaissance sent back its report.
“Report, we’re observing from the car and can’t get closer.
About fifty meters from the checkpoint, there seem to be around thirty personnel, no heavy weapons.
Vehicles are being checked for about two minutes each.”
The convoy stopped about two hundred meters from the checkpoint.
Although it was by the roadside, there was enough width for sedans to pass.
Gao Yang pointed ahead and asked, “Do we rush over on foot, or do we drive through?”
Nate laughed but didn’t answer Gao Yang’s question.
Instead, he spoke into the radio, “It’s only about thirty people, an easy task.
Those driving will stay in the vehicles, clear the path and evacuate immediately.
Everyone else who can, follow me; we’re going through.” (To be continued.
