Mercenary’s War
Chapter 477 - 477 474 Learning with an Angel

477: Chapter 474: Learning with an Angel 477: Chapter 474: Learning with an Angel There might have been a few that slipped through the net, but overall, the Black Panther Squad was completely wiped out.

The numbers were similar, but the Angel Mercenary Corps used mortars.

Controlled by four top-notch gunners, the mortars became a deadly weapon, preventing a unit skilled in CQB from performing effectively.

Originally designated to intercept the Black Panther Squad, Group C was the first to board the vehicles.

Then, driving through the wrecked convoy of the Black Panther Squad, the vehicles, including one pulling a trailer with Ivan and a few other injured men, stopped next to Gao Yang.

Brejinsky and Li Jinfang quickly got into the cars.

Gao Yang did not get in the car with Li Jinfang and the others; he wanted to stay by Nate’s side.

The vehicles of the Angel Mercenary Corps arrived one after the other, all kinds of vehicles—sedans, SUVs, pickups.

Once everyone was on board, at Nate’s command, the impressive convoy quickly set in motion.

Gao followed Nate into a sedan and sat in the backseat.

It was a very ordinary car, not very big, so there were only Gao and Nate inside.

Once the car started moving, Gao took a long breath and said, “Now, we’re finally safe, right?”

Nate shook his head slightly, smiled faintly, and said, “From now on, we have to fight for survival.

Safe?

It’s too early to say that.

Let’s get out of the city first.”

After speaking with Gao, Nate pressed his walkie-talkie and said, “Report ammo supply and casualty status.”

Gao’s walkie-talkie was on the same frequency as the Angel Mercenary Corps’, so he could hear every response from the Angels.

However, to his frustration, they were reporting in a mix of German and English, mostly in codes and jargon, which Gao couldn’t understand at all.

After listening to the reports, Nate shook his head slightly and said to Gao, “Overshooting max range, our mortars are now scrap metal.

But it doesn’t matter anyway; we’ve run out of shells.”

Gao couldn’t help but say, “You guys came over so quickly, with missiles and mortars, and you had so many shells.

Where did you get all these heavy weapons?”

Nate smiled faintly and said, “Knowing we were up against SWAT, and possibly special forces like Jaguar, how could we go without heavy weapons.”

Gao paused, then nodded and said, “Of course, it’s definitely good to have heavy weapons.

But how did you get them from Bogota?”

Nate smiled and said, “Buddy, that’s our secret, okay?

You’re asking too much.”

Gao shrugged and winced in pain as he said, “Alright, I won’t ask about that then.

But can you tell me how you managed to identify the Black Panther Squad so quickly?”

Nate shook his head and said, “Classified.”

Gao, with a sincere face, said, “Brother, don’t be so stingy.

Please tell me, I implore you.

It’s not like I’m asking for your sources.

Just tell me how you established your intelligence network, or, let me ask in a different way.

Did you already have intelligence on all armed forces in Bogota ready in advance?”

Nate, looking exasperated, touched his forehead and said, “Ram, I didn’t expect you to be so—well, shameless.

This is our secret.

I think you’d be wise to change the subject, perhaps to something like how you’ll pay my fees.

What do you think?”

As the car sped around a corner, Gao was thrown against Nate.

Still with a look of sincerity, he said, “The fee’s not a problem; I can have someone wire you the money right away.

Please, I’m really eager to learn, and right now, I truly admire you.

As a mercenary, you’re my senior.

Don’t be so stingy; tell me.”

Nate sighed and said, “Shut up.”

Gao said in a firm tone, “Tell me and I’ll shut up.

How about this?

Just tell me how you’ve established your logistical and intelligence networks, and I’ll save you once for free.

Like you’ve just saved us.

I won’t charge you a penny.

How about that?

My tuition isn’t cheap.”

Nate couldn’t help but laugh and said, “Ram, I just realized today that you’re even more interesting than I thought.

Save us?

That’s a good joke.

But you’re using something that will never happen as a bargaining chip.

Are you playing with me?”

Gao shook his head repeatedly and said, “No, no, don’t say that.

In war, who can guarantee victory?

Can you say you’ll always be in an advantageous position?

What if—just if—you were surrounded by some force?

Is being rescued the same as not being rescued, right?

So, don’t be too certain, it’s possible that one day you might need us to come rescue you and your people.”

Nate shrugged and said, “What you’re saying isn’t unreasonable, but I firmly believe we won’t end up surrounded like you.

I have that confidence.

So, I reject your offer.”

“You’re scared.”

“What?”

“I said, are you scared of us, scared of the Satan Mercenary Corps?”

Looking at Gao Yang’s serious expression, Nate said with a quirky face, “Ram, have you gone mad or turned stupid?

Would I be scared of you?

Would I be afraid of your Satan?”

Gao Yang curled his lips and said, “Your words, we’re destined to become enemies in the future, you’re afraid that we’ll grow stronger so that’s why you refuse to tell me how to establish a complete system for a Mercenary Group.

Don’t tell me it’s not so, forget it, I won’t ask you anymore.

If I were in your shoes, I wouldn’t let a competitor, no, an enemy get stronger either.”

After giving Gao Yang a glance, Nate burst into laughter, pointed to his nose, and said, “Look at me, do you think I’m an idiot?”

Gao Yang shook his head and said, “How could that be?

You’re even smarter than a monkey.”

Nate slapped Gao Yang hard on the shoulder, his injured left shoulder, and after Gao Yang cried out in pain, Nate said with a smiling face, “Glad you know, since you understand I’m no idiot, then don’t try such idiotic tricks on me.

When I say it’s confidential, I truly won’t tell you.”

Gao Yang angrily said, “You bastard, that was too rough!

It hurts like hell.”

Nate said with a grin, “I did it on purpose.”

Gao Yang had completely run out of ideas.

He genuinely wanted to know how the Angel Mercenary Corps had set up their intelligence network and logistics system.

Satan’s logistics were based on self-procurement; if they needed to fight, they had to prepare everything in advance.

Once battle ensued, getting resupplies or changing equipment would become difficult, and the same went for intelligence.

Aside from collecting information before battle, there wasn’t much else they could do—at least, acquiring the necessary intelligence within a short period of time during combat, as the Angel Mercenary Corps could, seemed unlikely.

If the performance of the Angel Mercenary Corps this time was just a fluke, or because they had operated in Bogota for a long time, hence their efficient logistics and intelligence, then it would be of no referential value to Gao Yang.

But if it wasn’t just luck or because they had been in Bogota long, then how the Angel Mercenary Corps managed to do it was definitely something Gao Yang needed to learn.

Gao Yang positioned himself correctly; compared to the Angel Mercenary Corps, Satan was still weak and inexperienced, so he really wanted to learn something from the Angels, but unfortunately, on the crucial matters, Nate was adamant in keeping his lips sealed.

Gao Yang still wouldn’t give up.

After a moment of silence, he finally said with a wry smile, “Nate, what will it take for you to tell me what I want to know?

State your terms, and as long as they’re within my limits, I agree.”

Nate smiled and said, “If one day you truly end up saving us, then I’ll tell you what you want to know.”

Gao Yang helplessly waved his hand, dismissing Nate’s words.

Saving the Angels was something he had mentioned as a possibility, but he knew that the chances of encountering a situation where the Angel Mercenary Corps were surrounded and in need of rescue were uncertain.

Since Nate wasn’t willing to share, Gao Yang could only wonder about how he might achieve a level similar to the Angel Mercenary Corps.

But no matter how much he thought, he couldn’t come up with a good solution.

In a place he was well-acquainted with and had been operating in for a long time, he could also resupply and change equipment at any time, getting intelligence as quickly as possible, but apart from that, he couldn’t think of any other way.

Unable to figure it out, Gao Yang simply stopped trying to think of it any further, as now was not the time to consider how to strengthen the Satan Mercenary Corps.

Instead, figuring out how to escape was the urgent priority.

Gao Yang let out a resigned sigh and said, “Forget it, since you won’t tell, I won’t ask further.

But, do you at least have any plan you can tell me about?

Have you decided where we’re going?”

Nate shrugged and said, “My plan is, first get out of the city.

The rest can wait until we’ve left the city.”

Without more to say from Nate, Gao Yang had no choice but to turn his attention back outside the car window.

To beat time, before all the exits out of the city were blocked, the car leading the way for the Angel Mercenary Corps was speeding, and the pace of the entire convoy picked up.

A convoy of nearly twenty vehicles was rampaging through the streets, they had yet to encounter a police roadblock or effective interception.

Occasionally, they saw a police car with its sirens blaring, but those would not attempt to follow and instead immediately looked for a place to stop and avoid Gao Yang’s convoy.

Wherever the convoy went, it was sure to cause traffic congestion, and with the scale of the incident they had caused, the entire Bogota police force had been mobilized.

Upon encountering a convoy, Gao Yang thought they would surely be blocked and would have to fight their way through.

Surprisingly, a convoy of more than a dozen police cars showed no intention of stopping.

Two long strings of vehicles on opposite sides of the road passed each other peacefully, without any altercation whatsoever.

Gao Yang was first in extreme shock, but then overwhelmed with joy.

If no one dared to intercept them on the rest of the route, wouldn’t that mean they could easily leave the city?

But before Gao Yang could revel in his excitement, he heard someone shouting through the earpiece, “Major, two helicopters are following us.” (To be continued.
