Mercenary’s War -
Chapter 403 - 403 401 The Bullet Ant Crawling on the Ground
403: Chapter 401: The Bullet Ant Crawling on the Ground 403: Chapter 401: The Bullet Ant Crawling on the Ground As dozens of grenades flew out, Gao Yang suddenly felt something was off.
He couldn’t pinpoint why, but he just felt it and almost subconsciously yelled, “Get down!”
After the grenades were thrown, the next step should have been to advance while exploiting the brief suppression caused by the explosions.
Even if they didn’t intend to charge into close combat and resolve the fight immediately, they should have either swept the area with gunfire or thrown another round of grenades before slowly retreating.
Instead, after tossing the grenades, everyone needed to dodge at full speed.
To ensure immediate compliance with his orders, Gao Yang chose to shout rather than issue commands quietly, and almost at the same time as Gao Yang yelled, Lucica also screamed in surprise in Spanish, before yelling in English, “Run!”
After his yell, Gao Yang immediately turned and took two steps back, then leaped forward with all his might.
In front of him was a bush with thorny branches, and with no other choice, Gao Yang took a big step in an attempt to clear the bush while lunging forward, subsequently crashing heavily into the thorny thicket.
Falling to the ground, Gao Yang let out a muffled grunt as his whole body felt a burst of stabbing pain, his eyes suddenly bulging like a frog’s.
He didn’t know how many thorns had penetrated his skin, and just as he was about to get up and establish a defensive position again, he heard a series of loud explosions behind him.
The blast from the explosions tore through the shrubbery beside Gao Yang, shredding branches and scattering leaves.
If Gao Yang had reacted even a half-second slower and hadn’t thrown himself to the ground in time, the shrapnel would have hit him instead of the bushes.
Feeling incredibly lucky, Gao Yang ignored the pain and the thorns around him, pushed himself up with one hand, twisted around, and threw two grenades back before whispering, “Take cover, watch out for enemy grenades, report your status.”
“Worker Bee injured, left buttock, minor, does not affect combat.”
“Toad safe.”
“Big Dog safe.”
“Rabbit safe.”
“Test Tube safe, two guides at my side injured, appear to have minor injuries!”
The situation was quickly reported back.
Except for Tommy and two guides who had sustained minor injuries, everyone else was unharmed.
Gao Yang could hardly imagine what would have happened if his order had been delayed by two seconds; at least half of the people reporting in now would be dead.
Gao Yang was eager to move positions, but with many thorns stuck in him, any movement would cause the branches embedded in his flesh to painfully tear at him.
At that moment, Lucica ran up to him and, while urgently helping him remove the branches from his body, said, “The sound just now was deliberately made by the enemy.
I was fooled, sorry!”
After tearing and pulling off all the thorns embedded in him, Gao Yang brushed Lucica’s hand away, saying, “Now is not the time for that, stay back a bit and take cover first!”
The enemy seemed to know that the first round of grenade bombing had not caused significant damage to Gao Yang and his team.
Therefore, they didn’t all press forward, nor did they throw any more grenades.
After crouching and moving a few steps to the side, Gao Yang glanced at Cui Bo and Glolov on his left, grabbed the walkie-talkie, and whispered, “Rabbit, use the Claymore, two of them!”
The enemy was formidable, and Gao Yang decided to retreat immediately, now was the time to make use of the valuable Claymore Anti-Infantry Mines.
Toad immediately took the backpack from his back, gestured for cover with his hands, and quickly took out two Scottish Claymore Directional Mines, setting up the fuse and switch swiftly.
The Claymores Gao Yang and his team carried were remotely detonated.
After setting up the Claymore, Toad casually threw one to Frey nearby, then made two gestures to indicate the direction each Claymore was facing.
The two men quickly ran to the optimal position for setting the Directional Mines, and then inserted the mines into the ground.
Once Toad gave an okay sign, Gao Yang immediately said, “Toad, Big Dog, and I will stay behind to cover.
The rest, fall back twenty meters and establish a defensive position.
Move!”
A few of them stood up, called the guide, and then crouched and quickly ran backward for a distance before Toad, who had retreated first, whispered, “All in defensive positions.”
They had to retreat, but couldn’t just turn and run.
Gao Yang stood up, observing the situation in front while walking backward at a slow pace, but he had only taken a few steps when he realized Lucica hadn’t fallen back but stood beside him.
Gao Yang couldn’t help feeling furious inside.
He wouldn’t blame Lucica for being tricked and providing false intelligence, but he had given her an order to retreat.
Her staying put was something Gao Yang couldn’t tolerate.
Gao Yang gave Lucica an angry look, waved his hand furiously, and then in a lowered voice said, “Fall back, quick!”
Lucica’s face turned crimson, and she violently scratched at herself under her clothes, whispering hoarsely, “Damn, I have bullet ants on me!”
The so-called bullet ants are a species unique to the Amazon rainforest, known as the animals whose bites are the most painful in the world.
These ants are quite large, measuring up to 2.5 centimeters, and their bites release toxins.
Being bitten feels as though one has been shot, and the intense pain lasts for twenty-four uninterrupted hours.
The excruciating pain one would suffer from these ant bites is unimaginable.
Lucica was in so much pain she was almost convulsing.
Gao Yang slapped a large ant off Lucica’s neck to death and reached for Lucica’s clothes, but luckily remembered just in time that Lucica was a woman and her clothes shouldn’t be casually removed.
Despite the pain, Lucica didn’t fall and roll on the ground, which was already a sign of her strength.
After flailing and stumbling forward a few steps, Gao Yang grabbed her and led her back as he urgently called on the radio, “Big Dog and Toad, cover me.
Test Tube, come and help, quickly.”
As Gao Yang led Lucica back, Bruce had already hopped and skipped his way over, and as soon as he saw Gao Yang, he urgently asked, “What happened?”
“Bullet ants, on her!”
Bruce wasn’t like Gao Yang.
Hearing the words “bullet ants,” he immediately lifted Lucica’s shirt from bottom to top, and then began frantically to slap the ants off Lucica’s chest.
Seeing the dumbfounded Gao Yang, Bruce urgently shouted, “What are you spacing out for, help, man!”
In a flurry, Gao Yang started to slap the bullet ants off Lucica’s back, while Bruce was hurriedly saying to Lucica, “Are there any on your legs?
Where else?
F**k, take off your pants!”
Before Bruce could finish speaking, a loud shout suddenly came from the forest, “Is that you on the other side, Ram?
I know it has to be you, old friend.
We meet again.”(To be continued.
