270: Chapter 268 We Are Named Satan!

Upon learning that the Instruction Platoon had encountered fierce resistance, Gao Yang led Frey with his rocket launcher team that hadn’t yet entered the battlefield, along with Bruce who arrived personally at the site where the Instruction Platoon’s attack was stalled.

In addition, Gao Yang also brought two locals who had volunteered to help the Skull Gang in combat.

Following the secured Highway One, Gao Yang and his group quickly reached the front line under the escort of the seventh unit.

The Instruction Platoon faced resistance at a location different from the previous battlefield; they were now close to the core area of Bosaso, where corrugated metal shacks were no longer seen, replaced entirely by buildings constructed of brick and stone.

The Instruction Platoon, led by Li Jinfang, was halted right in front of buildings that lined the street serving as a dividing line.

The area controlled by the Instruction Platoon was a mix of brick buildings and metal shacks, but further ahead lay purely concrete-reinforced buildings.

Plus, on both sides of Highway One, there were a three-story and a four-story building occupied by the enemy, who firmly blocked the Instruction Platoon’s route.

After arriving at the front line, Gao Yang’s position was inside a mobile home about four hundred meters from the street corner building.

The mobile home, a rare brick stone structure whose owner had long since hidden away, was temporarily used by Gao Yang as a command post.

He then gathered Glolov and the rest together to discuss strategies.

The two buildings used by the enemy as strongholds were clearly visible on satellite images.

Li Jinfang placed his hand on one of the spots in the image and said urgently, “There are at least twenty people in this building, with two light machine guns and about three to four snipers.

On this side, the enemy force is about twenty as well, with similar firepower.

Furthermore, not all enemy forces are concentrated in the two buildings; an unknown number of enemies are moving on either side of the buildings.

The enemy lacks heavy firepower, and their current firepower seems weak, but their individual fighting capabilities are extremely high.

I’ve already organized two assaults, both repulsed.”

Lacking heavy firepower but having high individual quality is the typical style of mercenaries, of course referring to the smaller mercenary groups.

Large companies like EO and Armored Group, with abundant heavy firepower and no shortage of tanks, planes, and artillery, are not included in this category.

Gao Yang slammed his hand onto the map and exclaimed, “No doubt about it, they’re definitely mercenaries.

This is a tough nut to crack but also the key to taking Bosaso.

Once these mercenaries are dealt with, the rest will be easy to handle.

We can’t bypass this place; we must take it by force.”

Li Jinfang nodded and said, “That’s right, we can’t get around this point.

According to the intelligence we have now, from here forward lies the core area controlled by the Mokadi Faction, and about two kilometers further is where Mokadi himself resides.

Taking down Mokadi and his loyal followers signifies capturing Bosaso.”

After Li Jinfang finished speaking, Glolov said in a deep voice, “I have launched two rounds of attacks on the enemy-occupied buildings, but the mortar attacks on the roofs are almost ineffective.

We could only use direct fire with the Type 63 rocket launchers, but the enemy has reinforced and modified the buildings.

Now, we can consider both buildings as fortresses.

Yet, our rocket launchers lack the precision and power to pose a significant threat to the enemy buildings.

Currently, it seems using rocket launchers at close range might be more effective.”

Cui Bo also spoke with a depressed look, “The enemy’s snipers are all hidden in high places.

In the area we control, there isn’t a single building tall enough, which greatly restricts our field of fire.

The enemy snipers shoot from the openings in the buildings, and our snipers can hardly pose any threat to them.”

After Glolov and Cui Bo, who had already been in combat, described the difficulties they faced, Li Jinfang said gravely, “The good news is that the enemy seems to lack sufficient night combat equipment.

Aside from the snipers, judging from the enemy’s current tactics, they lack the means to take the initiative to attack.

However, when our forces open fire, they can return fire swiftly and accurately.

I believe they are not fully equipped with night vision devices, which is something we can exploit.”

Gao Yang frowned and said, “What if we redirect our forces from other areas to first clear the perimeter of these two large buildings, containing the buildings overnight, and then launch a general assault when day breaks?

After all, we have the advantage in numbers right now.”

After finishing, Gao Yang immediately shook his head, dismissing his own suggestion.

“No, that won’t work.

The enemy lacks night combat equipment, but their individual combat ability is strong, and they’re holding fortified positions.

If we wait until daylight to attack, the casualties can only be greater.

We must take them down tonight.”

After pondering for a moment, Frey said loudly, “If we can get close enough, I’m confident I can shoot the rockets through the enemy’s firing holes.

I’ve had a look, and the enemy’s firing holes aren’t too small.

If we’re close enough, the rockets will be able to get through.”

Gao Yang smacked his lips a few times, shook his head, and said, “It’s too risky.

The enemy has now established a crossfire network, and although they lack enough night vision goggles, they aren’t without them entirely.

It’s impossible you won’t be discovered.

Also, if you’re too far away, the accuracy of the rocket launcher won’t suffice; if you’re too close, the firing angle will be too narrow to get the rockets through the shooting holes.

This plan won’t work.”

At this moment, someone standing behind Frey suddenly spoke up, “Sir, since it’s a war, someone has to die.

We’re willing to give it a try, and I’m confident I can land the rocket in the shooting hole.

Just let me get within fifty meters range; I can hit a target as small as one square foot, and many in our group can do the same.”

The man was brought by Frey.

Gao Yang glanced at Frey, and Frey immediately said, “His name is Mehdi, he’s my deputy.

He’s right.

Within fifty meters, many of us can hit a one-square-foot target, and our group is equipped with low-light aiming devices.

I think it’s doable.”

Gao Yang couldn’t think of a better solution.

After pondering for a brief moment, he finally nodded and said, “Alright then, let the rocket launcher team give it a try.

Big Dog, bring all the artillery over here.

Rabbit, call all the snipers here for cover while Little Fly and the others move in for the shot.”

Having said that, Gao Yang took the rifle from his back and shouted, “Now it’s our turn to enter the fray.

I’ll go and have a showdown with the enemy snipers.”

Glolov slapped his machine gun and said, buoyantly, “Come on, let them see what the Satan Mercenary Corps is made of.

Let them witness what a real machine gunner looks like.

Handling artillery that I’m not skilled in has given me a headache.

Now I can finally show my true colors.”

Bruce chuckled and exclaimed, “Boss, you’re a Lieutenant Colonel, the highest commander.

The highest commander doesn’t usually engage personally in combat.

I bet you’re the only Lieutenant Colonel armed with a sniper rifle.

And Big Dog, you’re the Artillery Commander.”

Gao Yang said with a troubled face, “I have no choice.

Commanding a battle is too amateur for us, but when it comes to CQB, I’m quite confident.”

Li Jinfang also laughed heartily and shouted, “Although our ranks are self-appointed, I dare say our assault team is definitely the highest-ranked.

One Lieutenant Colonel, four Majors, haha, what a luxurious lineup!”

Bruce waved his fingers repeatedly and exclaimed loudly, “No, no, no, you’re wrong.

There’s one Lieutenant Colonel and five Majors.

I hold the rank of Major too, and guys, don’t forget, although I’m a medic, I’m proficient in VBSS operations.

Guys, give me a rifle.

Ah ha, Rabbit, you have a spare HK416, that’s great, give it to me, and I’ll show you what a Navy’s violent medic looks like.”

Commanding combat was a precarious job for Gao Yang, but now that he was about to join the fray personally, even though the danger level had greatly increased, he felt an exhilarating thrill.

There was no helping it; he was a mercenary, born to be cannon fodder on the front lines.

Remote commanding from a headquarters was too sophisticated for him; he couldn’t enjoy such a blessing.

Now faced with a building occupied by mercenaries which represented the toughest challenge in front of the Skull Gang, taking it down would mean a clear path ahead.

Although leaving the large force behind and not commanding but joining the fray personally seemed a tad unreliable, Gao Yang still decided to make use of his role as the strongest sniper there.

Gao Yang stood up and shouted, “First, gather all the artillery and snipers here.

We’ll launch the attack in one hour.”

After finishing his speech, Gao Yang stretched out his hand and yelled, “Who are we?”

Li Jinfang, Frey, Glolov, Cui Bo, and Bruce successively placed their hands on Gao Yang’s outstretched palm, and all six shouted in unison, “Satan!” (To be continued.
