Mercenary’s War -
Chapter 250 - 250 248 The Battle is Not Yet Over
250: Chapter 248 The Battle is Not Yet Over 250: Chapter 248 The Battle is Not Yet Over The RPG that Frey referred to is the RPG-7, just as mentioning an AK specifically refers to the AK47.
When only RPG is mentioned without a specific model, those three letters invariably mean RPG-7, which seems to be the universal practice worldwide.
Frey was in charge of training all the rocket launcher operators in the Skull Gang, and everyone knew about his proficiency with the launcher.
After just a shout from Frey, one of the operators immediately ran over and handed him an RPG-7 that had just been reloaded with a new rocket.
After shouldering the launcher, Frey didn’t fire at the target immediately upon sighting it, unlike the Skull Gang’s shooters who would launch their rockets as if the launcher tube was scalding their shoulders.
Frey first calculated the speed and distance of the speedboat and, after figuring out the lead needed, then he fired the rocket.
Hitting a high-speed moving target with an RPG is pretty difficult, but Frey managed to hit it in one shot.
As he took out both speedboats, the Skull Gang soldiers, who had just been bombarded by mortar fire, couldn’t help themselves and rushed out from the fishing village, charging toward the remaining attackers on the beach,
Seeing the Skull Gang’s men losing their composure and dashing out, Gao Yang couldn’t help but curse angrily.
These men hadn’t gone through formal training yet; in chaotic situations or at times when the tide turned adverse, they would either blindly fire away or simply turn around and run, even if they actually had the upper hand.
But when they were winning, they would charge fearlessly as if their lives didn’t matter, not caring whether it was the right time to attack, unfazed even if their comrades were being shot down by enemy bullets.
In the face of modern rapid-firing weaponry, the fate of those who rush forward in dense formations is predictable.
There were only a few attackers left; they could’ve been taken out slowly with machine guns and rockets.
The plan was going smoothly until the big boat intervened with its mortars.
After the big boat was pummeled by rocket fire, the stimulated, or rather inspired, Skull Gang soldiers finally couldn’t resist the urge to rush out and end the battle.
They couldn’t keep cover properly when it was necessary and several were killed by the remaining attackers.
When it wasn’t the time to advance, their haste led to about thirty of them being killed or wounded, leaving Gao Yang so angry that he could only pound the ground with his fists to vent his rage.
“Don’t kill them all, leave some alive for interrogation!”
Gao Yang’s shout had no effect whatsoever, and besides, most of those who had rushed out couldn’t understand him anyway.
Buoyed by their overwhelming numerical advantage, the Skull Gang soldiers reached the beach and, at extremely close range with their guns pressed against the attackers’ heads, they opened fire, killing every last one of the resisting attackers right there on the beach.
Fortunately, the soldiers from the Instruction Platoon didn’t waste their recent training.
In the absence of the highest commander, they naturally obeyed Gao Yang’s orders.
Hearing Gao Yang’s shout, the soldiers from the Instruction Platoon intervened and managed to get the situation under control, stopping the untrained soldiers from continuing to fire.
The battle could finally be declared over.
Gao Yang yelled anxiously, “Check the battlefield, send all the injured for emergency treatment, see if there are any enemies hiding in the water, and gather all the bodies of the enemy together to check if anyone is still alive.”
The big boat that had been bombarded by rocket fire began retreating, trying to escape on the sea.
Although the origins and objectives of the attackers were still unclear, Gao Yang felt that this attack must have some connection with the British.
Now that things had reached this stage and a deadly feud had been established, there was no longer any reason to show mercy.
Gao Yang didn’t stop Glolov’s next attack, and as soon as the rocket launcher was reloaded, another round of bombardment began, with at least ten rockets hitting the large ship, guided by the reference from the last launch.
Watching the successive explosions on the large ship, Gao Yang urgently said to Li Jinfang, “Go gather the soldiers of the Instruction Platoon, deploy two squads to board the ship, bring back any survivors, and then disperse the rest of the people.
I’m afraid this attack is not as simple as it seems.
Have them set up a perimeter on land, and if they can’t establish a perimeter, at least set up posts without any blind spots.”
After Li Jinfang ran out quickly, Gao Yang immediately called out over the walkie-talkie, “Big Dog, cease fire.
I’m sending people to the large ship on a speedboat.”
“Understood, Big Dog, ceasing fire!”
Gao Yang was sweating profusely with urgency, as there was too much to handle now.
Yet looking at the chaotic crowd on the beach who were only busy with their cheers, Gao Yang worried he didn’t have enough manpower.
Li Jinfang raised his right fist and yelled while running, “Instruction Platoon, rally to me!
All members of the Instruction Platoon, rally to me!”
Seeing that a number of soldiers from the Instruction Platoon had already gathered around Li Jinfang, Gao Yang suddenly remembered something.
He ran in front of Li Jinfang and pointed to an Instruction Platoon soldier who spoke English quite well, “Toad, leave this one for me as an interpreter, take the rest and go execute the mission.”
The soldier Gao Yang pointed to ran up to him, while Li Jinfang divided the remaining members of the Instruction Platoon into two groups: one to carry out the boarding mission and the other to quickly lead enough people to establish a perimeter.
Gao Yang instructed the Instruction Platoon soldier who had been left behind as the interpreter, “Translate for me, tell them to gather all the bodies, and bring any that are still breathing to me, quickly.”
The interpreter began shouting loudly in Somali in the midst of the crowd.
Soon, people around him began to act, and with more and more people joining the search for wounded and bodies, the noisy beach finally began to quiet down.
Gao Yang didn’t know Maide’s condition, but he was now even more worried about Abu, who had yet to appear.
He feared Abu had been killed in action.
As Maide’s right-hand man, Abu’s status was crucial.
Lacking high-level personnel other than Maide and Abu, the Skull Gang needed Abu to take command, now that Maide was incapacitated.
Gao Yang urgently needed Abu to step forward and lead the Skull Gang.
And, setting aside these factors, Gao Yang and Abu were also good friends, just for that reason alone, Gao Yang needed to clarify whether Abu was alive or dead.
After calling the interpreter back, Gao Yang hurriedly headed towards the cabin where he had spoken with Abu just a short while ago.
Just then, Li Jinfang, who had left not long before, suddenly yelled in the headset, “Encountered unidentified targets, damn, engagement has started, the enemy opened fire first.
We’re in a firefight with about a hundred enemies, and their numbers are increasing.
Watch the other two directions!
All the enemies encountered so far are black; can’t determine the total number of the enemy at this time, but the enemy’s combat strength is weak.
Repeat, all enemies are black and not strong in combat, heavy weapons not seen!
Requesting reinforcements!” (To be continued.
