Mercenary’s War
Chapter 1412 - 1393: Trust

Chapter 1412: Chapter 1393: Trust

Although they aren’t as fully equipped as during normal operations, Satan’s people are still fully armed. So, the risk of these Satan members staying in the hospital is quite high. If someone were to pass by and glance into the car, it would undoubtedly cause a lot of problems.

After hanging up the phone, Gao Yang casually walked towards a car.

He walked straight to Glolov’s car. The window was open, and though the door was closed, it wasn’t locked. A simple kick would open it, which also made exiting easy.

Andy He sat in the front seat, while Glolov was alone in the back with a machine gun in his arms, his head resting on the headrest as he watched the road leading past the hospital.

Gao Yang leaned beside the car window, rubbed his forehead, then lifted his head and said to Glolov, "I’m sorry."

Glolov shook his head and whispered, "No need to say sorry to me, it’s unnecessary."

The relationship between Gao Yang and Glolov was different. He was apologizing to Glolov because Glolov was Yelena’s father.

Gao Yang bit his lip hard. After a long while, he finally said in a low voice, "Don’t you have anything to say to me?"

Glolov sighed deeply and said in a low voice, "Standing in the shoes of Yelena’s father, I want to go home immediately. But as your deputy, I have nothing to say. The choice you made is very normal because you are a mercenary."

Gao Yang whispered, "But this time it’s different. This time it’s very dangerous."

Glolov chuckled softly and said in a low voice, "Which battle we experienced wasn’t dangerous? Is there even a battle in this world that isn’t dangerous?"

After saying this blandly, Glolov sighed lightly, looked calm, and said, "I’ve fought battles for half my life, and I’ve been a mercenary for a long time. I know better than anyone what this business is about. Once you’re in, don’t expect to get out easily. The longer you stay, the harder it is to end. When you and Rabbit decided to become mercenaries, I knew we would wind up like this sooner or later. It’s not about the money. If you don’t lose something, don’t expect to leave easily."

Glolov gently caressed the machine gun in his arms, lowered his head, and said, "If I could leave, I would have already been home with Natalia and Yelena. Satan can find a good machine gunner easily these days; you think I can’t leave Satan? Yes, I can’t leave Satan, but what I can’t leave more is the battlefield."

Gao Yang whispered, "You never talked to me about these things before."

Glolov exhaled and said in a deep voice, "Do I need to say it? Remember Fart Fire? Any mercenary who doesn’t know when to quit can only leave when they’re dead. Since I haven’t left, it means I’m just like them. Of course, I hope you can go home and stay put, fulfill your promise when Yelena graduates. What I really hope for now is that you lose a limb or something on the battlefield but don’t die."

Glolov laughed at himself, then waved to Gao Yang and said in a deep voice, "What I can’t do, I have no right to require you to do. I hope this mission can make us determine to leave completely. Let’s not talk about it now, it’s meaningless. On the battlefield, treat me as Satan’s deputy commander. Don’t think about other things; it will cloud your judgment. Just tell me what we need to do next."

Gao Yang said in a deep voice, "Tonight, we’ll take out Mogilevich."

Glolov waved his hand and said in a low voice, "Alright, I get it. There’s still a long time until tonight. Go deal with your matters now."

Gao Yang nodded, turned, and walked away, passing through a group of restless White Shark Gang members, and returned to the emergency room.

Alyosha and the others were still anxiously waiting. Seeing Gao Yang, Alyosha shook his head and whispered, "No news yet."

Gao Yang checked his watch. He had been gone for only about half an hour, which certainly wasn’t enough time to finish surgery.

After gathering everyone around him, Gao Yang whispered, "Just leave a few people here. The rest of you, especially those planning retaliation, can leave now. Gather people and put on a show of preparing for a large-scale counterattack."

A familiar face to Gao Yang, though he couldn’t recall the name, whispered, "Is there a plan? What should we do?"

Gao Yang didn’t dare to openly share the entire plan with everyone. The gang members might speak of loyalty, but how many truly follow through?

With a calm expression, Gao Yang said, "Yes, there’s a plan. Create the appearance of a counterattack but don’t take action yet. Wait until Shava wakes up."

Everyone frowned. Alyosha hesitated to speak, but someone else wasn’t so polite. A young man with a fierce face shouted angrily, "Are you kidding? We’re waiting for our boss to wake up? What time is it? If we’re going to retaliate, we must do it immediately."

Gao Yang stared at the young man intently, then said in a deep voice, "No, we can’t retaliate immediately now; that would be suicide."

An older man, with a sullen face, said in a deep voice, "What does our plan have to do with you? What right do you have to order us?"

Alyosha hesitated a bit, but he still said nothing, because the middle-aged man was right. Gao Yang was an outsider. He had a good relationship with Shava, but he wasn’t in a position to order the White Shark what to do or how to do it. Gao Yang could influence Shava, but he couldn’t bypass Shava to directly command the White Shark Gang.

Gao Yang smiled slightly, exuding charisma.

"Because compared to me, you’re too inexperienced. You’re like newly hatched chicks. What, do you think you’re really capable?"

After glancing around, Gao Yang continued, "What do you think this is? Let me tell you, this isn’t a simple street fight, this is a war. If Mogilevich dares to make a move against Shava, it means he’s fully prepared to wipe you out. And you? Are you ready?"

The middle-aged man who spoke earlier was filled with anger, "I don’t need you to teach me what to do!"

Gao Yang said coldly, "I’m not planning to teach you what to do, I just intend to stop you from doing something stupid. Rushing to your death won’t make you appear brave; it’ll only prove you’re foolish. Or should I say, I can’t make decisions for Shava, nor do I have the right to teach you what to do. But can you make decisions for Shava and tell them what to do then?"

The middle-aged man was left speechless, as Gao Yang looked around again and said sternly, "You are all key members of the White Shark Gang, but have you decided who will replace Shava to command the entire gang? Or are you planning to lead your own group and fight separately? None of you can decide the fate of the entire White Shark Gang for Shava. Before you seek revenge, at least think about what’s the right way to do it—also, Shava isn’t dead yet!"

Alyosha exhaled and said in a deep voice, "That’s right, Shava isn’t dead yet. Peter is right, we should wait and see what happens when Shava wakes up."

Gao Yang glanced at his watch and said in a deep voice, "Since Shava hasn’t died by now, he won’t die. Moreover, since his carotid artery wasn’t ruptured and the hospital treatment was timely, he won’t become a vegetable either. So, there’s no need to rush. When he wakes up, you’ll naturally know what to do."

Afterward, Gao Yang waved his hand and said loudly, "Now, go back and gather your people, reassure them, and tell them Shava’s fine to prevent them from overthinking. Meanwhile, put on a show of preparing for revenge. Make a big enough display of it, and that will be enough for now. Additionally, let me remind you, I’m not a member of the White Shark Gang. From an outsider’s perspective, if any of you act without permission and disrupt the situation, I’ll consider them a traitor who has defected to Mogilevich. Okay, now you can decide who stays."

Alyosha said in a deep voice, "I’ll stay here to look after Shava. Yarmolenko, you stay here with your people too. We need more people to protect Shava."

The fierce-looking young man frowned and said, "Alright, I’ll stay here with you."

Gao Yang walked away, waiting as the group stayed in place to discuss in low voices for a while. After most people left, Gao Yang called out loudly to Alyosha, "Buddy, come here for a second."

Alyosha was the person Shava trusted the most. They had grown up together and were relatives, having conquered territory side by side. Gao Yang knew this because some matters had to be handled by members of the White Shark Gang, so he had no choice but to trust Alyosha.

After Alyosha walked over to Gao Yang, Gao Yang leaned closer and whispered, "Your gang is actually quite loose, and it’s too easy to buy off a few people. In the current situation, if the White Shark Gang doesn’t have any of Mogilevich’s spies, that would be an insult to my intelligence, don’t you think?"

Alyosha gave Gao Yang a puzzled look, thought for a moment, then nodded, "Yes, there are a lot of us, and it’s too easy to buy a few, especially for Mogilevich."

Gao Yang said solemnly, "Shava trusts you the most, so I trust you too. There are some things that only you can do."

Alyosha replied in a low voice, "I trust you too. Whatever it is, just say it, I’ll handle it."

"Do you have people whose loyalty can be assured?"

Alyosha pondered for a long time and then said quietly, "Yes, but not many. There are a few people who, no matter what, would never betray Shava or us. They’d rather die than betray."

Gao Yang whispered, "They can’t be conspicuous within the White Shark Gang. They must be able to ensure loyalty."

Alyosha scratched his head, thought for a moment, and then nodded, "Yes, but there are very few. What do you have in mind?"

Gao Yang said in a serious tone, "The coming period will be very dangerous for Shava. If he doesn’t die and is saved, you’ll have to take the people you trust and move Shava to a place no one knows about, and hide well. No matter what happens outside, unless I inform you, you absolutely must not contact anyone to avoid exposing Shava’s whereabouts. Can you do that?"

Alyosha exhaled and said in a deep voice, "I can, but what will you do?"

Gao Yang smiled and said in a deep voice, "Don’t worry about what I’m going to do; I’ll help you move Shava to a safe place. After that, you don’t need to worry about anything. Remember, wait for my notification. Until you receive my message, hide well with Shava." (To be continued.
