Chapter 1377: Chapter One Thousand Three Hundred Sixty: An Inexhaustible Source
Why use US dollars instead of firing a gun? Because the power of US dollars is far greater than a gun, Gao Yang brandished green dollars all the way, invincible indeed.
Major Kucher personally came with the convoy, that’s the benefit of Gao Yang paying an extra one hundred thousand US dollars. One hundred thousand US dollars is not a small amount, most people in the world will never earn that much in a single go, but Gao Yang gave it away just as a greeting gift. For Morgan and Grand Ivan, this amount is nothing, but for many people, it’s enough to make them sell their lives, let alone merely make a trip in person.
After Kucher jumped out of the car, he first shook hands with Gao Yang and the others, then picked up the walkie-talkie and shouted: "Get moving quickly, take turns to load the car."
After giving instructions to his subordinates, Kucher, full of smiles, said to Gao Yang: "They’re all skilled lads, don’t worry, they have the skills and experience, I promise to deliver your goods safely to the ship."
Gao Yang chuckled and said, "Major, I have some small gifts here, kindly distribute them to the brothers."
Kucher waved his hand, laughed, and said, "Deliver your gifts yourself; I won’t intervene."
In the warehouse, soldiers have money to receive, and those transporting goods should also get a share. Gao Yang and his team are newcomers, trying to grab connections and channels from the older arms dealers, inevitably paying a price.
The driving soldiers got two hundred each plus a pack of cigarettes, however these two hundred weren’t two large bills; they were in denominations of ten, so handing them out created quite a stack, looking even better than two hundreds.
Here, Glolov was distributing money to the drivers, while over there missiles were already being hauled out from the warehouse. Forklifts transported missile boxes from the warehouse to the entrance, then soldiers lifted them onto trucks. With two hundred strong men loading simultaneously, several trucks could be filled in minutes. Later, as the goods in the warehouse got further from the entrance, even a dozen forklifts couldn’t keep up with the loading speed.
Gao Yang and his team watched at the entrance, then Kucher glanced inside the warehouse and suddenly asked, "How much stuff to transport?"
Kofupake casually said, "Altogether about a thousand boxes, all missiles, easy to load and move."
Kucher waved his hand, saying solemnly: "A thousand boxes? You don’t need so many trucks, for missiles, a bit less and twenty trucks will do. With so many trucks not loaded, what else can we load? Let your guys prepare quickly, I’ll send the trucks over to speed things up."
Kofupake looked at Gao Yang, smiled, and said, "Yeah, there’s a lot of spare capacity, what else do you want to haul?"
Apart from missiles, Kofupake didn’t have anything too valuable. Gao Yang pondered a bit, then said to Kofupake, "Rocket launchers then, let’s load rocket launchers."
Kofupake nodded, "Alright, load rocket launchers, I’ll get someone to open the warehouse door and spare hands will start loading them."
Kucher chuckled, "Load RPG-27, they’re the most expensive; after loading RPG-27, consider RPG-26 and RPG-7, but you’d better see what you need, some places RPG-27 aren’t as good as RPG-7 for selling."
After Kucher finished, Kofupake exclaimed in surprise, "There are RPG-27 here? I don’t think there are any 27s here."
Gao Yang believed Kofupake wasn’t planning to stash some goods away for private use, there’s no need for that, the most valuable missiles were sold already; not a few more one-time-use rocket launchers.
Looking at Kofupake’s surprised expression, Kucher casually said, "No one told you? The warehouses from 44 to 70 are filled with rocket launchers; I’ve hauled from here many times, how wouldn’t I know? Consider, how could the military supplies prepared for attacking the West lack anti-tank rocket launchers? Warehouse No. 66 afterward hasn’t been touched."
Kofupake, quite annoyed, said, "Why is it that as the person in charge here, I have things unknown to me yet known to you?"
Kucher laughed heartily and said, "That’s because your predecessor kept those things hidden; rocket launchers are in demand. About the allocation reported above, of course, a part ought to be left; it’s normal you don’t know, recently the arms market has been quiet. Get going, warehouses beyond No. 66 should certainly have rocket launchers. I remember back then, after clearing No. 65, the subsequent storerooms haven’t been touched, definitely still have goods."
Kofupake beckoned, spoke to one of his men: "Take people and check Warehouse No. 66, if there are rocket launchers, start moving them."
His subordinate saluted, turned around, quickly turned back again, and said to Kofupake, "Sir, there’s no key."
"Smash it open!"
The result was, after moving missiles, they started moving rocket launchers.
Rocket launchers came in boxes of two, one-time large caliber anti-tank rocket launchers. Kucher was right; being a strategic reserve for World War III, heavy anti-tank rocket launchers wouldn’t be lacking. Not listed doesn’t mean they’re absent from the storerooms. As for RPG-7 being listed, that’s because this item is outdated and not valuable.
Gao Yang didn’t know how many boxes were moved, anyway over forty trucks were fully loaded, but only a small portion near the warehouse entrance was moved.
Missiles, counted in the hundreds, whereas rocket launchers, if not counted in ten thousand, then the Soviet Union was somewhat pathetic.
Inexhaustible, this is Gao Yang’s feeling now. Finally, after more than four hours, the officer leading Kucher’s team came before Kucher, loudly saying, "Major, all vehicles have been fully loaded."
Kucher nodded, turned to Gao Yang and asked, "There will be someone receiving this batch in Odessa, or will you have people follow it over?"
Gao Yang smiled and said, "There’s no one over in Odessa, so we’ll follow from here."
Kucher waved his hand, saying, "Then let them depart."
Satan’s people wouldn’t all go to Odessa, as there were still many affairs in Kiev.
Glolov would accompany a few others to escort the convoy to Odessa, but escorting was essentially just following, preventing unnoticed accidents or dozens of boxes of missiles being offloaded without a place to reason.
Gao Yang walked a few steps, before Glolov and the others preparing to follow the convoy. Solemnly, he said, "Depart, be careful on the road; goods can be forsaken, but people cannot be harmed, this is the only principle." (To be continued.
