Mercenary’s War

Chapter 1348: Chapter 1331: Diffusion Period

Gradually, people started entering Gao Yang’s room, so hoping for some peace and quiet was out of the question.

The video was sent by Jansen and others in the middle of the night, and now it’s morning. News has a spreading period, and what has passed is not yet the most sensational time. Therefore, it’s still hard to gauge how severe the subsequent reactions might be.

Logically speaking, a group of mercenaries should act low-key and not stir up trouble everywhere, but unfortunately, as mercenaries, there are few afraid of causing issues.

After mingling with the crowd for a while, Gao Yang clapped his hands and shouted, “Alright, everyone go back to your own rooms, I’ve got things to attend to.”

After saying that, Gao Yang grumbled discontentedly, “You bunch of bastards, none of you are willing to handle serious business, but you’re all thrilled by these petty matters.”

Gao Yang indeed had plenty to do; to be exact, there’s a multitude of things that urgently need handling.

Finding a lawyer, the person from Solar System Company responsible for daily affairs, collecting the inheritance Federer left for him, contacting a company that organizes exhibitions, getting the office setup for the company headquarters in Houston—which doesn’t even have an office yet—that needs to be expedited, and dealing with matters in Ukraine and Somalia.

Gao Yang thinks he’ll become a frequent flyer, constantly jetting around the world as part of his daily life, and when he ponders the global travel issue, he remembers he needs to complete the formalities with Morgan, to fully transfer the private jet now essentially under his use.

Frustrated, Gao Yang shooed away the crowd, then dialed the number Morgan had given him. The process was fairly smooth, arranging a time to meet with the big-shot lawyer Morgan introduced; they will discuss specifics at the time and sign a cooperation agreement. He’d officially have a personal lawyer.

Hanging up the phone, Gao Yang looked at Yelena with a pained expression and said, “Darling, you know? I’m starting to think being a mercenary is better than being a businessman. What I’m dealing with right now—honestly, I don’t want to do any of it.”

Yelena hurriedly said, “I really want to support you in living the life you desire, but if I had to choose between you being a mercenary and being a businessman, I’d still hope you’d try doing business rather than being a mercenary.”

Gao Yang chuckled bitterly, “I knew you’d say that. Ah, it’s such trouble. I really wish I could find a few assistants, but ones who are trustworthy and capable—where am I supposed to find such people? Those bastards! They get all excited at the mention of war, but when it’s time for them to handle company affairs, they hide faster than anyone else. Hmph, if they push me too far, I won’t bother with this mess.”

Yelena laughed, “You can’t complain; you’re their boss. They follow you and trust you, so you have to bear the burden for them.”

Gao Yang exhaled and said, “I need to call Little Donnie and summon him back to America. We can’t do without him here; compared to Ukraine, he’s more needed in America.”

While dialing the phone, Gao Yang smiled at Yelena, “Don’t worry about my safety; you know, we’re not fighting in Ukraine.”

Yelena had already come to terms with this reality and said helplessly, “At the very least, wait until your injury is completely healed before heading off to Ukraine, alright?”

Gao Yang raised his hand, indicated to Yelena that the call connected, and smiled, “Hey, buddy. How’s it over there?”

“Things are pretty good; the path has been almost fully scouted, just missing one practical run. Before we actually make the trip, I can’t guarantee there won’t be issues with the route. Oh, and one more thing: I just received a call; your bulletproof vests are ready for delivery. I’ll have the manufacturer mail them to my place; once they arrive, you can pick them up from my home.”

Gao Yang sounded frustrated, “F**k, finally they arrived. If they’d been here earlier, I wouldn’t have had to take bullets. Anyway, it’s good news; how long till they arrive?”

“Fastest shipping method; from Canada to New York, two days at most.”

“Great, once we have the bulletproof vests, we should head to Ukraine. Let’s prepare for this in the next few days. You can catch our flight back; there’s no need for you to stay in Ukraine.”

Little Donnie sounded surprised, “What’s going on? Did something happen?”

Gao Yang chuckled bitterly, “Yes, too many things. Listen, our company is already established, which I’ve told you before, but I haven’t mentioned that I’ve completed the registration in Houston. Hmm, you need to return to America to manage things here, recruit staff; in short, you’ve got to come back.”

“Moving pretty fast. Alright, once you get here, I can head back. Right now, there are plenty of things I can’t handle over here. Things here are like this: I’ve been getting along decently with the White Shark Gang, plus I’ve got my eyes on an ammo depot and an armory—both not very large, but should be feasible to acquire. The cargo ship negotiation is ongoing; there isn’t an appropriate ship yet, but from the current progress, there shouldn’t be any delays in delivering to the Skull Gang.”

Gao Yang said seriously, “Perfect, do we need to bring anything when we go?”

“Oh, there’s a lot needed. Liquor, Jensen Family’s liquor, bring plenty. Bring luxury items, of course, mainly cash. I don’t know specifically how much is needed, but the more, the better. Nothing else is needed; gotta wait till I’m back in America to handle. It’s like this: I need to hurry back to America to take care of a batch of fake passports and visas or something.”

Gao Yang asked seriously, “What use is that?”

“Very useful. I’ve had brief contact with some Ukrainian officials; they’re willing to sell us the resources they control. Aside from money, they want to leave Ukraine for other countries, and America is a highly desired destination. As long as we hand over money and supply passports, trust me, there’s no deal that can’t be fixed, and offering passports gives us a huge advantage over competitors.”

Gao Yang smiled with satisfaction, “Great, very good. You indeed hit the key point. Think carefully about what’s needed; later, text or email me, and I’ll try to bring everything when I go.”

After chatting a bit with Little Donnie, Gao Yang hung up the phone and smiled at Yelena, “See? A lot of things can be that simple; once you’ve found the right person, many problems can be solved easily.”

Yelena laughed, “Is this still the same person who was complaining loudly just now?”

Gao Yang smiled sheepishly and waved his hand, “You know I’m emotional. Alright, darling, stay here for a bit; I need to talk with Taylor.”

Gao Yang felt it was time to get back to work and sort some things out.

Knocking on Taylor’s door, Gao Yang entered to find Taylor sitting in front of the computer watching footage of him crashing the party.

Seeing Gao Yang, Taylor smiled and pointed at the computer, “If you show your face, you’d be a celebrity.”

Gao Yang laughed, “Not really, this time wasn’t much. Compared to when I made the news last time, this was far less. Last time it was a major international sensation.”

Sitting down on the sofa, Gao Yang waved his hand and said, “Taylor, I’ve got some things to talk with you about.”

Taylor turned off the computer’s audio, swivelled his chair to face Gao Yang, “Go ahead.”

Gao Yang was silent for a moment, then lifted his head and said seriously, “Taylor, you joined us to avenge Test Tube, and now that our revenge is temporarily on hold, we should pursue our dreams and future. So, I think you need to formally make a decision; do you want to officially join us, or temporarily leave the team, joining us again when we resume action for Test Tube’s revenge?”

Taylor’s situation was somewhat awkward; he joined Satan to avenge Bruce, even sacrificing his promotion opportunity, and only managed to join Satan by quitting the Air Force and taking a self-inflicted wound. But although he had always acted with Satan, and no one treated him as an outsider, Taylor had still not formally joined Satan.

Gao Yang decided to put an end to Taylor’s ambiguous situation. Whether Taylor chooses to stay or leave, there should be a clear decision.

Taylor thought for a moment before lifting his head, saying, “Honestly, I’ve been contemplating this lately. Comparatively, being a mercenary isn’t my first choice; serving the country is.”

Gao Yang made a nonchalant gesture, but Taylor smiled and said, “But, I can’t return to the military now. My options are either go home or mix it up with you guys. I don’t want to go home. What can I do at home? So, I choose to mix with you guys. After our time together, I feel that the people of Satan fit my appetite well. I like Satan quite a bit, so I request to officially join Satan. That’s my answer.”

Gao Yang promptly nodded, “Excellent, welcome to officially join Satan, brother!”

Taylor said seriously, “I have one condition, the only condition.”

“Go ahead.”

Taylor spread his hands, “Truthfully, everyone in Satan is my brother, but my former brothers, are equally my brothers. My only condition is, if someday Satan clashes with the Air Force Control Group, I won’t participate.”

Gao Yang nodded, “No problem at all, I completely understand, plus we almost have no chance of clashing with your old comrades.”

Taylor smiled, “I think so too, but I’m not particularly worried about that issue.”

Gao Yang waved his hand, “You were helping for free before, but now that you officially joined Satan, any profits include your share. Moreover, do you need money now? If so, how much?”

Taylor shook his head, “I don’t need money, and you don’t need to give me money, I didn’t join Satan to make money.”

Gao Yang laughed, “Alright, no need to discuss that further. You get no pay for revenge, but I wouldn’t break the rules by not paying you as a mercenary.”

After saying that, Gao Yang stood up and extended his hand to Taylor, smiling, “Formally, let me say again, happy to have you join us, brother.” (. Mobile users please visit m.qidian.com to read.)
