Mercenary’s War -
Chapter 1343 - 1326: Challenging the Establishment
Chapter 1343: Chapter 1326: Challenging the Establishment
When Gao Yang said he was going to challenge the gym, everyone who should and shouldn’t come showed up.
After all, he had to cross the entire America, so the flight arrived at midnight. As soon as the flight landed, a bunch of troublemakers gathered, and a plan to challenge the gym was quickly formulated.
Challenging the gym is simple, but the complexity lies in avoiding being caught by the police, which means tactical planning is required, just like going to war.
The next day, while Gao Yang was still dreaming, someone knocked heavily on his door. Morgan shouted loudly from outside, "Wake up! We need to leave!"
Sleepily awakened, Gao Yang rubbed his eyes and looked at his watch, noticing it was already past eight in the morning. He resignedly shouted, "Coming! Stop knocking on the door."
Glolov’s whole family showed up, so Gao Yang had the regrettable experience of sleeping alone.
Gao Yang hurriedly washed his face, dressed, and opened the door to find a big group already gathered outside.
Seeing Gao Yang come out, Natalia raised her fist and waved it vigorously, then excitedly exclaimed, "Gao, go beat those bastards!"
Gao Yang had always suspected his mother-in-law might be more belligerent than his father-in-law; otherwise, why would Natalia have heard he was going to challenge the gym and become even more excited than Glolov?
Morgan, looking displeased, said, "Hurry up, everyone is waiting for you."
Gao Yang quickly put on his jacket and asked urgently, "Is everyone ready?"
"We’re ready!"
"Just waiting for you, hurry up!"
"I can’t wait any longer; can you be quicker?"
Gao Yang put on his jacket, smoothed his hair, grabbed Yelena’s hand, and waved, "Villains lead the way, we’re off, hurry up."
In no time, more than a dozen people split into several cars and began heading towards Hollywood Boulevard.
The first target was called Zhendao Gym, right on Hollywood Boulevard. It was the first Taekwondo gym established by master Jin Jizhe in America, and unfortunately, it had become Gao Yang’s target.
A group of people noisily got into their cars, as if heading to a party. Albert, having been a police officer in Los Angeles for many years, was the perfect person to lead them.
When six cars stopped neatly in the parking lot of a grand-looking Taekwondo gym, Albert got out of the front car and ran over to Gao Yang’s car. After opening the car door for Gao Yang like a lackey, he pointed to the big sign behind him and shouted, "It’s this one!"
Albert wore big sunglasses and a baggy pullover, looking much like a street thug. This outfit suited the image of someone going to challenge the gym like a little punk, except Albert was more of a big thug than a small one.
Gao Yang first put on sunglasses, then a hat. When he got out of the car, he realized everyone in the group was also wearing large sunglasses, covering half their faces, and either a baseball cap or pullover. As they got out and shut the car doors simultaneously, it looked like they were gangsters about to rob a store.
Gao Yang felt their group looked more like a band of store-robbing thugs than martial arts experts challenging a gym.
Morgan was the most amusing. He didn’t want to be recognized, so he dressed like an old gangster. In order to watch the commotion firsthand, he went all out.
With a wave of his hand, Gao Yang led the formidable group into the Taekwondo gym without saying a word.
Their aura was too strong, and they immediately attracted everyone’s attention as soon as they entered, clearly looking like no-gooders.
Though called a Taekwondo gym, it resembled a fitness club. The people watching Gao Yang’s group were bewildered, and Gao Yang’s group was equally confused, since everyone inside was either black or white, with no Asian faces to be found.
"May I ask what you want to do?"
Until a girl at the front desk timidly spoke up, Gao Yang stopped and stood before the service counter, trying to muster his emotions. After thinking for a moment but faltering on words, Gao Yang slapped his hand on the counter, full of energy, and loudly proclaimed, "Challenge the gym!"
With this explosive shout, Eileen stepped forward, slapped the table, and loudly demanded, "Get Jin Jizhe out here!"
The girl at the counter was close to tears. She stood up, nervously pointing to a door behind Gao Yang’s group, and trembled, "We’re a fitness club; that’s where Zhendao Gym is."
"Sorry."
With a glance, Gao Yang quickly lowered his head, covered his face, and rushed out, followed by the once imposing but now crestfallen group trailing behind him.
"So embarrassing!"
"Boss, can you look a bit more carefully!"
Failing before the first move was not due to battle. It’s common for martial arts gyms and fitness clubs to be side by side; Gao Yang simply didn’t take a close look upon entering.
Amidst the complaints, Gao Yang was too embarrassed to rebut, quickly stepping to the correct door. Albert, ever the dutiful lackey, reached out to open the door.
Eager to wash away the shame, as soon as Gao Yang entered, seeing an Asian face and hearing the shouts from training inside, he couldn’t wait to shout, "Challenge the gym!"
The roar ended, and a woman who was registering something with a pen looked up in surprise at Gao Yang. Luckily, the woman had squinty eyes and a big round face, clearly untouched by surgery, a real tomboy.
Gao Yang and his group were in a rather roomy cubicle. To the left was a changing room, and ahead was a closed door, from behind which shouting could be heard. Inside the cubicle was the registration and payment area, and four or five people were looking at him.
Eileen stepped forward again, slammed the table, and shouted at the woman, "Where is Jin Jizhe! Get him out here!"
"You... what do you want?"
Eileen yelled angrily, "Didn’t you hear? We’re here to challenge the dojo! Challenge... the dojo!"
Albert exclaimed excitedly, "Stop wasting time with her. Do you need to make an appointment for a dojo challenge? Just find Jin Jizhe directly!"
After saying that, Albert reached out and pulled open the door from which the shouting was coming, and immediately shouted inside, "Dojo challenge! Jin Jizhe, come out to me!"
Gao Yang stepped forward at the right moment, and then there was silence both inside and outside the door.
Inside the door were over twenty children, the oldest looking about fourteen or fifteen, the youngest just four or five. They all stared blankly at Gao Yang and Albert.
Gao Yang opened his mouth, then shouted loudly, "Who’s the coach? Come out to me!"
A middle-aged man wearing a taekwondo uniform, about in his forties, walked out from a corner Gao Yang couldn’t see. After standing in front of Gao Yang, he looked him up and down, then said with a puzzled face, "I am the coach here. Can I help you?"
Gao Yang looked at the coach in front of him and said impatiently, "I’m not interested in you, get Jin Jizhe out here!"
"I’m sorry, Master Jin is not here. You can talk to me if you have anything."
Gao Yang looked at the coach again, frowned, and said, "Black belt fifth dan?"
"Yes."
"I’m not interested in you, I’m looking for Jin Jizhe. Get him out here!"
"I am in charge here. Master Jin is not here. May I ask what do you want from Master Jin? Maybe you can talk to me."
Gao Yang said helplessly, "I’m not interested in you, I’m looking for Jin Jizhe, I... forget it, let’s go."
Gao Yang was really not interested because standing in front of him was a white man. What’s the point of challenging a dojo and ending up facing a white fifth-dan black belt, especially in front of a group of kids? Gao Yang couldn’t afford to lose face like that.
He was too lazy to even call out for a challenge, so Gao Yang turned his head and left, and a group of people followed, crestfallen. Just then, the coach behind Gao Yang shouted, "You want to challenge the dojo? Why are you leaving in such a hurry? Don’t go, we can have a sparring match."
Gao Yang stopped but then shook his head again, sighed, and said, "Fighting you would just embarrass me; forget it."
"What, are you afraid?"
Gao Yang felt humiliated, so he was walking with his head down, but after hearing what the coach said behind him, he immediately stopped, turned around, and said, "My target is Jin Jizhe, not because he’s strong, but because he’s despicable and shameless. That’s why I want to teach him a lesson. You’re not qualified to be my opponent, and I don’t want to bully you. So, mind your words, or else you’ll get hit and then end up calling the police saying you were attacked or something."
"Call the police? No, it’s just a friendly sparring match. As long as you can accept defeat, no one will call the police."
Gao Yang immediately turned and said, "Great, teach him a lesson!"
Four or five people rushed over with a loud clang, each eager to make a move. Dealing with a fifth-dan black belt, it should not be too easy.
They stared at each other unwilling to back down. They came to watch but couldn’t miss the rare chance to take action themselves.
At this moment, Eileen stepped forward, said softly, "Gentlemen, ladies first."
The crowd retreated, and Eileen stepped into the arena. The coach bowed to Eileen first, then started bouncing in place, while Eileen looked puzzled at the spectators and said, "Has it started? I mean, can we begin?"
A boy about fourteen or fifteen years old, who seemed aggressive, shouted, "It’s started! Get ready for a beating, you stupid woman..."
Hearing that it started, Eileen took a step toward her opponent. As the coach tried a spinning side kick toward Eileen’s face, Eileen also sidestepped. But she awkwardly stopped her movement, blocked the coach’s leg with her arms, pushed forward, and then grabbed the coach’s belt directly.
With a roar, Eileen lifted the coach into the air and slammed him down heavily.
"Hiss!"
The group gasped in unison, their breaths taken away as the coach lay twisting on the ground.
The same move Eileen used when she first met Gao Yang, except Gao Yang wasn’t slammed to the ground, while this coach was. That’s the difference.
With one move, the coach started rolling his eyes. Eileen approached the kid who had spoken rudely, put her hand on the child’s head, and said with a fierce expression, "Hey kid, watch your mouth next time, or you’ll get beaten! Got it?"
