Chapter 1299: Chapter One Thousand Two Hundred Eighty-Two: The Beautiful Green

Gao Yang and Number Thirteen sat on the cable car with Krulney. As the cable car approached their destination, Gao Yang couldn’t help but glance at the place he and Rafael had previously scouted.

Noticing Gao Yang’s gaze, Krulney couldn’t help but say, “You’re not planning to have someone take action against Suharitan here, are you?”

Gao Yang didn’t see anything unusual. After hearing Krulney’s question, he withdrew his gaze and smiled, “Of course not. I’m not planning to immediately eliminate Prince Suharitan, so I wouldn’t place people here just yet.”

Krulney’s expression turned grim as he said, “I hope you’re not lying to me, Ram. If you make a move against Prince Suharitan here, I’m as good as dead. Although I don’t think you’d actually do it here, I have this nagging feeling that you’re capable of anything. So, even if you’ve set up people here in ambush, I wouldn’t be too surprised.”

Gao Yang shrugged and replied, “I certainly haven’t placed anyone here.”

Krulney exhaled in relief, saying, “Alright, I’ll believe you.”

Gao Yang lied. Krulney had guessed right; he had indeed placed people here. Before meeting Krulney, Rafael, acting as the commander for this mountain warfare team, had already led his men toward Saint Anton. So, as Gao Yang spoke with Krulney, Satan’s non-specialized mountain warfare unit was already in position as per the plan.

Gao Yang wasn’t guarding against Suharitan but against Krulney, so there was no way he would tell Krulney the truth.

Of course, Rafael’s team might not have executed the ambush properly. After all, silently riding a cable car during broad daylight with guns, disembarking not far from Prince Suharitan’s resort, and then covertly moving to an ambush site was exceedingly difficult. What’s more, three members of the four-person team had no prior mountain warfare experience.

Gao Yang wasn’t even sure if Rafael’s team had successfully deployed, as time was extremely tight. Rafael wouldn’t arrive much earlier than Gao Yang and the others. Besides, when meeting Prince Suharitan, whether or not they would actually see him face-to-face, everyone would have to be searched, and no communication devices were allowed. Consequently, Gao Yang hadn’t brought any communication equipment, adhering strictly to the role of a bodyguard with no unauthorized items on him.

Now, Gao Yang could only hope Rafael’s team had indeed deployed successfully. However, even if they failed to get close to Suharitan’s resort, it wouldn’t matter much, since Gao Yang didn’t perceive a significant risk. The arrangements were simply precautionary.

After disembarking from the cable car, Number Thirteen walked with remarkable steadiness, showing no signs of his serious injury.

Having visited before, Krulney easily greeted the people at the entrance and was subsequently escorted to a temporary gatehouse for inspection.

Krulney underwent a body search, and his briefcase and personal belongings were thoroughly checked. Even his phone had to be left at the gatehouse.

Gao Yang and Number Thirteen were cast as Krulney’s bodyguards, each carrying a handgun—the kind picked randomly just for show. Once inside, they voluntarily handed in their weapons before undergoing detailed body searches.

This wasn’t Gao Yang’s first visit, and he strongly doubted he’d meet Suharitan in person. This trip was primarily about accompanying Krulney to fetch money. However, the real goal was for Number Thirteen to scout in person, making it easier to execute a future plan against Suharitan.

After all three had been searched, Krulney waved his hand and said in a low voice, “You two wait here for me.”

Krulney had barely finished speaking when a man resembling a butler smiled and said, “It’s fine, you can bring them with you. They can help carry your things.”

Krulney paused, looking puzzled. “Things? What things?”

The butler shrugged, made a gesture of rubbing his fingers together, and smiled, “What else could it be?”

Krulney suddenly understood and chuckled, “Alright, let’s have them come with me.”

The butler nodded and motioned for them to follow, leading the group ahead. While walking behind the butler, Krulney turned his head to look at Gao Yang, shook his head, and silently mouthed the words: “No problem, cash.”

Gao Yang gave a slight nod, but a sense of unease crept into his heart. Something felt off—this situation clearly wasn’t normal. Why would a prominent figure meet with a minor one and even allow the minor figure’s bodyguards to tag along?

Despite his suspicions, Gao Yang couldn’t act impulsively. The situation wasn’t fully understood yet. It was possible he was overthinking things. Perhaps Suharitan had many previous transactions involving large cash payments.

Exchanging a vigilant look with Number Thirteen, the two followed silently behind Krulney until the butler knocked on a thick, heavy door and announced loudly, “Your Highness, Mr. Krulney has arrived.”

“Let him in.”

A deep voice answered from within. The butler opened the door and gestured for them to enter.

The room was spacious and warm, with logs burning in the fireplace. Opposite the fireplace sat an elderly man on a sofa, wearing a checkered headscarf, a white robe, and slippers, his face marked by age spots but his demeanor energetic. Behind him stood two men in suits with checkered headscarves on their heads.

The old man glanced up at Krulney and said in a deep voice, “You’re here. Is everything settled this time?”

Krulney’s face broke into a flattering smile as he responded, “Yes, my esteemed Prince. Everything is settled this time. The Angel Mercenary Corps was completely annihilated—not a single one escaped.”

With those words, Krulney took out a folder filled with photographs from his briefcase and held it up to the old man, saying, “Your Highness, please take a look.”

The old man waved his hand, and Krulney handed the folder to him. He opened it briefly, then shut it again with a look of disdain, tossing it onto the adjacent sofa carelessly and saying indifferently, “Good. You’ve finally done everything you were supposed to do.”

After speaking, the old man turned to one of the men behind him and said lazily, “Go bring the money.”

The man behind him immediately left the room. Gao Yang’s body tensed entirely; if anything went wrong, he was prepared to leap toward the Prince Suharitan standing just four meters away.

After two minutes, the door opened again, and a group of people entered, each carrying two large bags. They placed the bags in front of Krulney and unzipped them before stepping aside.

Gao Yang’s eyes widened—each bag was packed tightly with banknotes, all green, stunningly beautiful green, dazzling green—the green of US dollars.

Prince Suharitan waved his hand and said in his indifferent tone, “Cash, 150 million dollars. It’s yours now.” (To be continued.
