Chapter 1230: Chapter One Thousand One Hundred Thirteen: Absolutely Cannot Tolerate
Gao Yang was furious.
Yelena felt quite confused. Besides, she thought that Gao Yang, who had always kept a low profile and tried to avoid drawing attention no matter what, would actually be happy about a chance to better conceal his identity.
“Dear, what’s wrong? I thought you’d be happy.”
Gao Yang paced angrily around the room and shouted, “Happy my ass! I’ve become a Korean. Oh, wait—this ‘I’ is Li Er, the one who wrote the Dao De Jing, not me. Confucius became a Korean, Xi Shi became a Korean, Li Shizhen became a Korean, the Dragon Boat Festival is Korean, Chinese characters were invented by Koreans, and movable-type printing was invented by Koreans!”
Yelena exclaimed in shock, “They’re Korean? Impossible! I know all the people you just mentioned. You can’t learn Chinese without knowing them. How could they be Korean? What are you saying? Also, Chinese characters—how could those be invented by Koreans? You must be joking!”
Gao Yang stopped pacing, waved his hand forcefully, and shouted, “You still don’t get it? Now I’ve become Korean too! Don’t you understand? Okay, this time, ‘I’ really means me. Ugh! Do you understand now?”
Gao Yang was speaking in Chinese, switching between two meanings of ‘I,’ which left Yelena baffled. After some thought, she suddenly caught on and exclaimed, “This is outrageous!”
Gao Yang nodded furiously, breathing heavily. “This is unbearable. Absolutely unbearable. Those damned dead historical figures being randomly claimed as ancestors by Koreans—I could let that slide. But I’m still alive! And now they dare turn me into a Korean too! This is absolutely unacceptable! And I use Tan Leg, which they claim is Taekwondo—F**k! If Li Jinfang finds out, he’ll be furious too. This is absolutely and utterly intolerable!”
Yelena was indignant and said, “What are you planning to do?”
Gao Yang immediately walked back to his bed, dressing quickly as he loudly announced, “I’m calling Rafael. I need to make sure everyone knows that I’m a Huaxia person and that I use Tan Leg!”
Just as Gao Yang was getting dressed, his satellite phone rang. He grabbed the phone without even looking and answered sharply, “Who is it!”
“It’s Eileen, Boss. You were amazing last night,” came the reply.
Gao Yang blurted out, “How do you know?”
As soon as he said it, he realized it was a pointless question. Of course Eileen would know—she must have seen it on TV.
“I saw you on TV. I recognized you immediately. What, you didn’t know you’re on TV? Turn it on quickly; almost every news channel is showing your heroic display. You’re famous now, Boss.”
Gao Yang said begrudgingly, “I know now. We’ll talk later. I’m busy going to confront those Koreans.”
“Alright, Boss. I didn’t realize you were calling Rafael. Since you’re in Italy, come to Germany next. I’ll be waiting for you. Talk later.”
Gao Yang hung up the phone, but Yelena sighed helplessly and said, “So what’s your plan? You can’t just hold a press conference to clarify your identity, can you?”
Gao Yang paused but then waved his hand. “A press conference is impossible. Forget about all that for now. I’ll call Rafael over first to see if he has any ideas. One way or another, I’m not letting this slide. I’d rather die than be considered a Korean!”
While Gao Yang was speaking, his phone rang again. He answered, and on the other end, Cui Bo yelled urgently, “Curtis! Brother Yang, you’ve become a Korean! Do you even know? Quick, check your phone—CNN! Or get online and look at YouTube. Curtis! Check it now!”
“I’m already watching. We’ll talk later!”
Gao Yang hung up the phone, stormed out, and pounded on Rafael’s door next door. From inside, Rafael asked cautiously, “Who is it?”
“It’s me! Come to my room, and hurry!”
Not long after, Rafael quickly dressed and rushed over to Gao Yang’s room, asking, “What’s going on? What happened?”
Gao Yang grabbed the remote, flipped through several channels, and stopped at one showing a news clip. He shouted, “See for yourself.”
“Oh! Damn! F**k! You actually made it on TV! Whoa, Boss, you look so dashing! But wait…you can’t really see your face clearly, so it should be fine, right?”
Gao Yang roared furiously, “This news is being broadcast worldwide! But that’s not the point. The point is that I’ve been turned into a Korean. My leg technique is being called Taekwondo. I can’t tolerate this. People need to know that I’m not Korean, and I absolutely don’t use Taekwondo!”
Rafael was stunned. “Something like this happened? Boss, what’s your plan?”
Gao Yang fumed but admitted helplessly, “I don’t know. I want to avoid revealing my identity, but I absolutely can’t be mistaken as a Korean. Even if it means exposure, I won’t accept it. Somehow, I need to expose those Koreans. F**k! If they don’t get a lesson, I’m going to be furious to death!”
Rafael looked at Yelena in shock and asked, “What’s gotten into Boss? What’s made him so angry? How did Koreans get involved again?”
Yelena helplessly replied, “The news about this is everywhere—it’s very sensational. But a lot of Koreans are saying Gao uses Taekwondo, and since that’s the case, he must be Korean. Right now, almost everyone believes it.”
Rafael shrugged, thought for a moment, and suddenly said, “Boss, how about this: last night, we were arrested along with over thirty others. Filet also got caught. Why don’t we have Filet issue a statement? He can reveal your identity—it would be fake, of course—but as long as he says you’re Huaxia, and that you use Huaxia Kung Fu, that should do. You wouldn’t need to personally step out, right?”
Gao Yang thought about it and realized Rafael’s plan might actually work. He immediately nodded and said, “Fine. Go to the police station and find Filet. Tell him what to say. As for the name, it’ll be Gao Jinbo—an ethnic Chinese Italian who uses Huaxia Kung Fu. Hmm, let’s call it Shaolin Kung Fu. And the specific technique—it’ll be Power King Kong Leg. The rest, feel free to make up as you go along.”
Rafael chuckled and said, “Fake names won’t work. If we use a fake name, it’ll be easy to check and find there’s no such person. It’s better not to use any names—just emphasize you’re Huaxia and that your Kung Fu is Shaolin. By the way, what was the name of the technique again?”
“Power King Kong Leg! Remember, it’s Power King Kong Leg!”
Rafael nodded seriously and said, “Got it. Power King Kong Leg. Boss, don’t step out yourself. I’ll head to the police station. I can easily meet the ones who weren’t detained. As long as we get them all to stick to the same story, it’ll work. Since reporters are very interested in this, they’ll definitely go to the station for interviews. Our people usually never do interviews, but this time’s different. Don’t worry—it won’t go wrong.”
Rafael left in a hurry, while Gao Yang, still seething with anger, paced the room a couple of times before shouting furiously, “No! Just this won’t cut it—I can’t swallow this rage!” (To be continued. If you enjoy this work, please visit Qidian (qidian.com) to vote for recommendations and monthly tickets.
