Mercenary’s War
Chapter 1209 - 1209 One Thousand One Hundred and Ninety-Two Don't Underestimate the Medical Soldiers

1209: Chapter One Thousand One Hundred and Ninety-Two: Don’t Underestimate the Medical Soldiers 1209: Chapter One Thousand One Hundred and Ninety-Two: Don’t Underestimate the Medical Soldiers Albert hailed from the Golani Brigade of Israel, and while Gao Yang didn’t know the specifics of his combat unit, he didn’t plan to ask.

As the leading force among the three elite units of the Israeli National Defense Forces, the Golani Brigade was undoubtedly assigned the most dangerous and pivotal positions whenever there was a war.

The soldiers produced by the Golani Brigade would certainly be of guaranteed quality, but the Brigade had a famous trait of liking to recruit soldiers who were rejected by other units.

Note that these were soldiers who were rejected by other units, not those who were looked down upon and weeded out, which was a significant difference.

Whether they were naive hot-blooded youngsters who loved to fight and brawl, the furious type, socially awkward, or had strong military skills but a timid personality, if other units couldn’t tolerate them, couldn’t keep them, or refused to have them, the Golani Brigade welcomed them.

Other units would kick them out, and the Golani Brigade would open its doors to welcome them in.

This characteristic of the Golani Brigade was well-known, but the Brigade’s combat effectiveness was even more renowned.

Along with its combat power, the Brigade’s infamous history was also well-known.

The Golani Brigade had committed war crimes, like slaughtering prisoners of war, more than once.

The brigade was labeled both for its illustrious military achievements and lack of military discipline.

The most famous unit within the Golani Brigade was probably the Sayeret Golani Reconnaissance Company.

What did this company do?

They dispatched personnel to participate in the raid on Entebbe International Airport in Uganda.

Moreover, this company had at least one-tenth of its members being those who had been kicked out of other units.

Considering that there couldn’t have been a lot of soldiers expelled from their original units, it could be assumed that those who were problematic for other units became some of the strongest in combat throughout all of Israel.

That’s how it was.

The soldiers of the Golani Brigade indeed fought with a ferocity and resilience unmatched by other units.

During the Yom Kippur War, a Golani Brigade unit was tasked to recapture a strategic point in the Golan Heights.

They deployed a little over two hundred soldiers.

Fifty were killed, over a hundred were wounded, and most importantly, all the leading officers died.

The initial command was led by a captain.

When the captain was killed, it was passed on to a first lieutenant, and after the first lieutenant was killed, a second lieutenant took over.

Eventually, the strategic point was seized, and all the eleven officers leading the charge had perished.

A staff sergeant, the last one at that, led the battle until the end.

However, there was a saying that one second lieutenant who led the charge survived and was later resuscitated, but this was not the main point.

The main point was that the Golani Brigade demonstrated why they were considered Israel’s top elite brigade in that battle.

An army is composed of many, many soldiers, and the style of an army will affect each soldier.

Essentially, what the army is like, traces of it can be seen in the soldiers coming from that army.

Li Jinfang’s originating unit’s serial number must not be disclosed, but Li Jinfang perfectly embodied the influence he received from his unit, and he brought that influence to the Satan Mercenary Corps.

Ordinarily, nothing special stood out about Li Jinfang, but in combat, he exuded a certain energy — if an assault trooper was needed, it had to be him leading the charge.

There was no need for Li Jinfang to fight or compete; with him around, others couldn’t even dream of taking his place as the lead assault trooper.

Gao Yang had indeed seen many good assault troopers by now, but only on Li Jinfang could one see that kind of determination — once the order was given, he would follow through at all costs.

The primary battle summons me; victory is assured upon my action.

This was essentially the sentiment that Li Jinfang exemplified — a determination that spared no effort built upon a confidence founded on strength.

Li Jinfang’s old unit had gifted him the most precious qualities of a soldier.

The Golani Brigade’s style was also quite distinct — filled with notable military accomplishments and equally prominent incidents of misconduct.

Furthermore, since Albert was a problematic soldier welcomed by the Golani Brigade, Gao Yang had to clarify why exactly Albert had been kicked out of Brigade 202.

An army is a melting pot.

Once Albert joined the Golani Brigade, his will would be integrated into a collective and branded with the mark of the Brigade.

His character flaws could become valuable characteristics suited for the Brigade.

However, Satan was different; the Satan Mercenary Corps was small, no more than a dozen people, unable to sway Albert’s will like a larger unit could.

If Albert had character flaws that Satan could not accept, it would be very dangerous.

Being expelled from an original unit was a serious matter for a soldier.

Albert was fortunate to have been accepted by the Golani Brigade; otherwise, without any other unit willing to take him in, he would be facing military dismissal, the harshest form of military disciplinary action.

Only for severely grave mistakes or even crimes could Albert find himself in such a predicament.

Gao Yang needed to know what mistake Albert had made.

He could tolerate most things, but there were some he couldn’t, such as disobeying commands.

Gao Yang asked a serious question that Albert had to answer.

Without much hesitation, Albert responded with a wry smile, “Well, it’s a bit of a long story.”

Gao Yang said in a deep voice, “No matter, you can take your time explaining.”

Albert scratched his head and continued with a wry smile, “I was a medic and was often in contact with the medical corps, even when not injured.

You know, there are many female soldiers and young nurses in the military medical corps.”

Gao Yang nodded, “I know, go on.”

Albert grumbled and went on, “There was this beautiful nurse I got to know because I went there frequently.

Then, well, I began to pursue her, and we ended up together.

But there was this jerk, the medical officer of the medical corps.

He was the person in charge and held the rank of second lieutenant.

That jerk and I liked the same person, and he was close to winning her over until I came along, then he had no chance.

After futilely pestering my girlfriend, he had her transferred from her job hoping to reduce the chances of us meeting.”

Albert shrugged his shoulders with a look of helplessness and said, “We couldn’t meet during the day anymore, so later on, I would sneak out of the barracks at night to meet up with her.

One time, while we were happily together, that jerk appeared with a few men, and the consequences were severe.

I was disciplined and confined for three days.”

Albert sighed heavily, looking depressed as he said, “After I got out of solitary, I heard that my girlfriend was driven away.

Oh, she was about to complete her service term and wanted to turn civilian to stay in the army, so she could work in the military hospital.

But after our thing got exposed, she couldn’t stay any longer.

The main issue was that bastard, he was infuriated, and it was all because of him that my girlfriend couldn’t stay.”

Gao Yang took a deep breath and said, “I guessed it was something like this.

What did you do afterwards that they decided to kick you out?”

Albert, with a flash of anger, waved his fist and then said gloomily, “I was so pissed off.

The night I got out of solitary, I slipped past the sentries’ eyes, sneaked out of the barracks, and climbed into that military doctor’s quarters through a third-floor window.

Then I really gave him a beating!”

Having been to the 202nd Brigade, Gao Yang knew very well how tight the security at the soldiers’ barracks was.

Albert’s casual words actually masked something very difficult to accomplish.

To be able to sneak out of the barracks regularly to get to the medical office showed that Albert’s action skills were off the charts.

Hearing Albert’s story, Gao Yang sincerely praised, “You’re amazing!

Really amazing!”

Albert raised his eyebrows proudly, then said smugly, “Talent.

The women I set my sights on, as long as I put in the effort, there’s none I can’t win over!”

Gao Yang, with a forehead full of metaphorical black lines, gave a wry smile and said, “This time I meant it’s impressive that you could sneak to the medical office, not that you’re impressive at pursuing women.”

Albert spoke nonchalantly, “Oh, that.

It’s simple, just treat the sentinels as enemy guards, and stealthily get past them.

I’m skilled at that, don’t underestimate a medic; we’re combatants too.”

Gao Yang nodded and said, “Alright, you beat up a lieutenant, this time you’re definitely getting kicked out.

He is, after all, a lieutenant.

To be honest, I’m already surprised they didn’t lock you up in prison for two years and just kicked you out instead.”

Albert exhaled deeply, saying, “It wasn’t that serious really; at that time it wasn’t so severe, I was just put in solitary for half a month.”

Gao Yang looked at Albert in astonishment, then Albert, with a pained expression, continued, “Those half a month of solitary almost took my life, really, I almost died in that cell.

But after I was released, they still wanted me to apologize to that bastard in person.

I originally planned to apologize, I really couldn’t take another solitary confinement.”

Albert spread his hands with a grimace and said, “But when I was apologizing, that bastard had a mocking look on his face that I just couldn’t stand, really, I couldn’t bear it anymore, and then, I beat him up again, this time even worse.

One punch knocked out over a dozen of his teeth, and I beat him until he rolled on the ground, ending up in a hospital bed for a month.”

Gao Yang gave a thumbs up admiringly and said to Albert, “You’re ruthless, very impressive.

To beat up an officer a second time, and to the point he stayed in bed for a month, you’re formidable.”

Albert sighed and said, “This time, I really stirred up big trouble.

As you know, both my father and brother served in the 202nd Brigade, and they died in combat, but they had comrades.

Luckily, I was supposed to be thrown into military prison, but in the end, I was just sent back to solitary for another half a month.

They planned to keep me there for twenty days, but feared I might die inside, so they let me out early.”

After saying that, Albert took a long breath and then said with a smile, “There’s no way I could continue in the 202nd Brigade, but the Golani Brigade heard about my affair, and right after I was released from solitary they brought me into the Golani Brigade.

Afterward, I had quite a good time serving there.”

Albert, who hadn’t made a fundamental mistake and was a person whose initiative was explosive, Gao Yang, had he been the commander of the Golani Brigade, would have snatched him up too.

Gao Yang waved his hand and said, “Alright, I’ve got it.

Leave me your phone number, keep it on for twenty-four hours.

I have some things to deal with recently.

After I’m done, I’ll call you.

Use this time to sort out any personal matters.

It’s up to you whether you resign or not, but it should be within a month or so.

Wait for my call to tell you where and when to meet me.”

Albert, visibly thrilled, exclaimed loudly, “No problem, I’ll wait for your call anytime!

So am I a member of Satan now?”

Gao Yang shook his head and said, “Not yet, now tell me your phone number.”

After taking out his phone and noting down Albert’s number without looking up, Gao Yang continued, “Tell me a bank account.

Let’s get these things sorted in advance.

The next time you see me, there will start to be money in it.

Hmm, do you have a suitable account?

One where large amounts of money can be deposited without raising suspicion?”

Albert shook his head and said, “No, I don’t have a secure enough account.

I dare not deposit my extra income into a bank.”

Gao Yang shrugged and said, “Alright, then let me set up an account for you.

Just so you know, you can use your money freely because it’ll be safe.

So that’s settled, wait for my call, goodbye.”

Albert, grinning from ear to ear, anxiously said, “I’ll quickly get all my affairs in order, and I’ll be waiting for your call!

Please call me soon, goodbye boss, and thank you, boss!” (To be continued.
