Mercenary’s War
Chapter 1140 - 1140 One Thousand Two Hundred Twenty-Three Real Battle Test

1140: Chapter One Thousand Two Hundred Twenty-Three: Real Battle Test 1140: Chapter One Thousand Two Hundred Twenty-Three: Real Battle Test Gao Yang felt that the Rebel Army would not launch any more attacks, as it had been proven that their tactics were ineffective.

If there were any smart people within the Rebel Army, they would realize that continuing to fight would only result in more casualties.

However, not only did the Rebel Army not prepare to retreat, but they also began to deploy infantry forward.

Their tactics were rigid, command was in disarray, and individual quality could only be described as miserable.

Nonetheless, the soldiers in the Rebel Army were indeed fearless.

“Will the enemy attack again?”

“Yes, and they’re planning to use infantry to launch an attack, it’s uncertain if it’s to cover for suicide trucks or for tanks to cover the infantry as they approach.”

The question was posed by Eileen, and Gao Yang responded.

After checking the monitors, Gao Yang answered Eileen’s question, and soon, soldiers in the prison expansion area began to disperse and form skirmish lines as they advanced toward the prison.

“If the enemy attacks from the north, our field of fire here will be relatively small.

Officer, I request a change of position; I want to go there.”

Eileen, who looked just as hearty as usual, pointed to the Tristar Building on the north side of the prison which offered a better field of fire.

Gao Yang was not in command of the prison guards, but Satan was also not under Saidev’s command.

Satan’s freedom on the battlefield was high; they could go wherever the situation demanded or wherever they wanted to go.

Gao Yang also thought about moving positions since the main direction of the Rebel Army’s attack was not the expected west side.

Staying in the southern building of the prison was somewhat a waste of their firepower.

It’d be better to repel the enemy’s assault sooner so everyone could get back to watching movies or chatting.

“Your request is approved.

Who else wants to go?”

Li Jinfang thought for a moment and said, “If we’re going, let’s all go.

It’s pointless to stay here.

It’s better to repel the enemy and rest sooner.”

Eileen laughed heartily and said, “Toad, you’re just eager to go back and continue watching movies, aren’t you?

How about it, my movies aren’t bad, right?”

Li Jinfang coughed lightly and said, “Don’t talk nonsense.”

Rafael, full of admiration, gave Eileen a thumbs up and loudly said, “Eileen, apart from admiration, I don’t know how else to describe my awe of you.”

Eileen laughed heartily, her face full of pride.

Only Gao Yang felt uneasy, not seeing any sincerity in Eileen’s words and actions, though she seemed no different from usual.

Nevertheless, Gao Yang always felt something was off with Eileen’s demeanor.

Waving his hand, Gao Yang said in a deep voice, “Let’s go together then.”

The group quickly ran down the stairs and entered the Tristar’s prison building.

It was the first time Gao Yang saw prisoners being held in cells; they ran past iron bars crammed full of prisoners on both sides, viewed by the annoyed spectators and also watching those prisoners themselves.

Many cells suitable for fire points had been cleared out, prisoners were transferred to other cells, and the guards used the vacated cells as fire points.

With many cells vacated, the remaining cells housing prisoners were insufficient and naturally, those old cells holding excess prisoners were very crowded.

If the Rebel Army conquered the prison, at least half of the prisoners here would be immediately executed, and from the rest, many would likely join the Rebel Army instantly—all due to faction issues.

The prison guards also made distinctions in their treatment of prisoners; those who would be immediately terminated by the Rebel Army could be somewhat lax, not needing to meticulously guard against any extreme actions from them.

Some of these prisoners could be selected to help fortify works, dig trenches, etc.

As for those whose sentences had ended or were about to end, if willing, they could even be given guns to join the guard forces.

The remaining part had to be closely monitored to prevent them from causing any trouble in the prison.

Since Gao Yang and his company’s appearance and dress differed from the guards’, it was not surprising that they drew attention.

Gao Yang felt uncomfortable under the prisoners’ stares.

Some prisoners, those who would die if the Rebel Army came, looked at them with hopeful gazes, while others even shouted encouraging them to defeat the Rebel Army.

However, another part, the prisoners who needed to be carefully guarded even during the Rebel Army’s attack, glared with hatred, unabashedly so.

Eileen, holding her rifle and running at the front, with Gao Yang right behind her, was about to leave the heavily guarded area when suddenly she stopped, turned to look at a cell on her right, took a couple of steps forward, raised her rifle, and slammed the butt into the face of a prisoner who was muttering something.

With a loud bang, Big Beard, clutching the iron railing, was smashed in the face by Eileen and fell heavily backward onto the ground.

Eileen was furious, shouting at Big Beard whom she had just hit: “Your family will end up as slaves, you’re doomed to only clean up your own mess for life!

You idiot with only dog shit for brains!

I’m not going to hell, and you’ll certainly not go to heaven!”

The prisoner was muttering curses under his breath, which Eileen overheard.

Gao Yang didn’t want any distractions; they were in the middle of a battle.

He turned to Eileen and said sternly, “We can talk after the fight.”

After giving the prisoner a hateful look, Eileen ran again, and even when she reached the top floor where Glolov and the others were positioned, she still appeared visibly upset.

Indeed, it was strange for Eileen.

Normally, if a wretch cursed her, she would either kill him on the spot or just laugh it off.

She wouldn’t let the words of a wretch bother her and make her sulk.

When Gao Yang and his group got to their battle positions, the Rebel Army’s attack began.

Instead of tanks and armored vehicles covering the infantry, it was the infantry covering bomb-laden trucks.

For the Rebel Army, tanks were valuable assets hard to come by, far more precious than dispensable lives.

Saidev was commanding here, holding an AKM and intently looking outside.

When he saw Gao Yang and his group arrive, Saidev stood up, turned his head, and called out, “General.”

Gao Yang nodded and asked, “Major, what’s the situation?”

Saidev looked a bit grave.

“The situation is okay after taking out their tanks, but the enemy hasn’t used tanks before and I’m worried it might become the norm for them.

Also, General, I’ve contacted our allies to the north.

If the situation worsens, they will provide us with artillery support.”

Without moving his right hand, Gao Yang readied his shot with his left hand, positioned his rifle by the window, and smiled: “Good, with artillery support, our defensive pressure will be greatly reduced.”

Saidev nodded and said, “Yes, but I want to request the artillery from our allies only at a critical moment.

The situation isn’t too dangerous now.

If we expose our artillery too early, it could lead to unfavorable changes.”

“No need to call for artillery support yet; our firepower is sufficient to drive the enemy back.

Powerful assets, preserve them as long as we can.

Alright, now fire, and drive the enemy back.”

“I want to go out and enjoy the world, but you sons of bitches have trapped me in this damn jail; go to hell!”

Gao Yang was quite concerned about Eileen, so he heard her murmuring something not far from him.

Then Eileen started firing continuously, venting her anger at the Rebel Army.

Gao Yang shifted his gaze back to the scope, fired several shots, and killed several from the Rebel Army.

There was nothing particularly surprising about it, but Saidev seemed to witness something extraordinary, he walked behind Gao Yang and silently watched him shoot.

Gao Yang found it boring.

Although he was using his left hand, the targets were too easy to hit; at a distance of three to four hundred meters, the slow-moving enemies were practically just providing him with targets.

Using her 7.62mm SA751, Eileen could hit each target accurately; if Gao Yang couldn’t hit them, that would be a real problem.

Gao Yang simply stopped shooting and watched to see how well others could perform with their 7.62mm rifles, treating this as a practical test of their training results.

Eileen could also play the role of a marksman.

She was a very accurate shooter; because of the close distance, her shots almost always hit their mark, which was excellent.

Li Jinfang’s mid-range shooting was a bit worse than Eileen’s.

He wielded the Modified Type 81, doing quite colorfully, just missing a bit more than Eileen.

But for a pure assault soldier, Li Jinfang’s mid-range shooting was also excellent.

Rafael’s mid-range shooting was not bad either, on the same level as Li Jinfang, just slightly worse than Eileen, but still remarkable.

He came from mountain troops accustomed to mid-and close-range shooting training, so mid-range shooting was important to him, and Gao Yang also gave Rafael an excellent rating.

As for Andy He, his mid-range shooting was somewhat lacking.

Despite using a scoped, medium-caliber rifle, Andy He’s performance was inadequate.

Andy He’s close-range shooting was excellent, hitting exactly where pointed within two hundred meters, but beyond three hundred meters, his hit rate dropped significantly.

This was related to his shooting habits and his familiarity with the FAMAS Rifle.

Basically, managing to hit one target after four or five shots at distances beyond three hundred meters was already good.

Of course, saying Andy He wasn’t good enough depends on the comparison and who is judging.

In Saidev’s eyes, Rafael’s shooting was so excellent it was unmatched.

Missing enemies after shooting hundreds or thousands of bullets was fairly normal, like Andy He being able to take down one with four or five shots was impressive, but Gao Yang didn’t think much of it, giving Rafael just a passable rating at best.

After all, having received specialized training, and using a special medium-long range rifle, plus the fact that the targets were no more challenging than fixed ones, giving Andy He a passable rating was already pretty good.
