Mercenary’s War
Chapter 1050 - 1050 One thousand and thirty-four Experience Guiding the New

1050: Chapter One thousand and thirty-four: Experience Guiding the New 1050: Chapter One thousand and thirty-four: Experience Guiding the New Gao Yang’s orderly was Hasan, who spoke English.

It was said that Major Dani expended a lot of effort to find an English-speaking orderly just for Gao Yang.

In addition to an orderly, Gao Yang also now had four guards accompanying him.

Gao Yang found it quite amusing that as a mercenary, he was followed by four guards, but although he was just a mercenary, in Syria he held the rank of a colonel.

A colonel, no joke, was a high-ranking officer, and it was certainly appropriate for someone of that rank to have guards.

Gao Yang’s colonel rank was honorary, carrying no real power, meaning it was merely for show in terms of treatment and entitled him to higher standard provisions, so it was quite normal for Gao Yang to receive exceptionally good treatment.

Therefore, not only did Gao Yang gain an orderly, but also four guards, and now there were sentries standing outside his office.

Another week passed, and the prospects for combat seemed distant, but the intelligence gathering in this period was actually quite successful.

Regarding the training ground, the Military Intelligence Bureau had three people monitoring the vicinity, continuously passing information back to Gao Yang.

Unfortunately, they had no access inside the training ground to provide the most direct and intuitive intelligence.

The airport had now become not just a mere airport but a temporary command center for special operations.

Although it lacked any official status, Gao Yang was de facto the highest commander of this command center, so he was indeed very busy.

Now Gao Yang was not only responsible for Satan and the other mercenaries but also had to oversee the entire operation, taking charge of troops he was unfamiliar with but destined to lead into battle, devising combat plans based on their training and equipment conditions.

The Republic Guard Special Strike Force under Farouk’s command was the most attended to and valued unit, yet its actual combat ability was the worst, with many relearning to shoot all over again.

How to lead such a promising yet currently ragtag force into battle was always a big headache for Gao Yang.

The Military Intelligence Directorate’s Action Team, needless to say, was a well-trained and well-equipped unit with high morale, and formed the most combat-capable part of the three forces Gao Yang must lead into battle for commendable achievements.

However, the issue was that this unit was too proud; Gao Yang could command them, but whether each of his orders would be fully executed was another story.

An old acquaintance and a key player in establishing cooperation with Syria, Jihad also sent a group, who narrowly avoided being absorbed by Marshall but ultimately managed to keep their formation within the Third Infantry Brigade, independently grouped under the Directly Affiliated Investigation Brigade.

The people from the Third Infantry Brigade were selected from the finest infantry.

Jihad had high hopes for them and their combat capabilities were ensured.

However, for Gao Yang, using this group posed challenges.

These men from the Third Infantry Brigade were traditional infantry, familiar with conventional military tactics and warfare, accustomed to large formation operations, and coordinated with armored units.

However, to expect infantry used to paving their way with artillery fire and then advancing in skirmish lines against enemy positions to adjust to infiltrating enemy lines via helicopter for decapitation missions was a significant change.

All were units intended to perform on unsuitable battlefields.

How to coordinate their operations was giving Gao Yang a real headache.

Only by knowing both the enemy and oneself can one fight without danger in hundreds of battles.

These past few days, Gao Yang had been observing the Action Team from the Military Intelligence Directorate and the Directly Affiliated Investigation Brigade of the Third Infantry Brigade, analyzing their tactics to then formulate a combat plan that would ensure safe achievement of commendations and find a worthy but suitable opponent for them to engage.

In short, Gao Yang was very busy, but with collective wisdom and effort, he had finally established a battle plan.

Gao Yang’s plan was to begin exercises immediately, first getting Satan and the Military Intelligence Directorate’s Action Team to train together, to bring down the latter’s arrogance, thereby ensuring they would willingly follow his every command in battle.

For the Directly Affiliated Investigation Brigade of the Third Infantry Brigade, there was no need to worry about command issues, but it was necessary for Satan’s people to take them in tactical training exercises, to quickly familiarize them with new ways of conducting warfare and cooperation with Satan.

Gao Yang was now accustomed to thinking over a cup of tea and eating two pieces of overly sweet dessert.

Placing the empty cup on the table, Hasan quickly came forward to refill his cup with tea.

Gao Yang gestured and said, “Hasan, stop pouring.

Please ask Major Dani to come here.”

“Yes, sir.”

Hasan turned to leave and, after waiting for two minutes, he knocked on the door and said softly, “Sir, Major Dani has arrived.”

“Come in.”

After inviting Major Dani in, Gao Yang gestured, “Please take a seat.”

After asking Major Dani to sit down, Gao Yang waved his hand and sighed, “There’s something I need your cooperation with, Dani.

Do you really have to participate in the combat?”

Dani said with a laugh, “Of course.

If the Action Team is involved in the operation, I must personally be there.”

Gao Yang gave a bitter smile, “But brother, you’ve never had any military training.”

Dani also bitterness in his grin, “There’s no helping it.

Anyway, I need to make an appearance, don’t I?

Besides, you’re here.

You don’t need to worry about whether I’m around or not, just command as you normally would.

Treat me as if I’m invisible, I don’t mind.”

Gao Yang waved his hand, “Alright, then go give the orders.

Starting this afternoon, we’ll hold exercises with my men.

Ask the airport to give us a building; we’ll conduct indoor combat training exercises.”

Dani laughed heartily, “Is that it?”

Gao Yang curled his lips, “That’s it.

Frankly speaking, I’m somewhat uneasy about your men.

They’ve undergone strict training, but whether they’re willing to accept my command is still a question.

And it’s too time-consuming to have to pass my commands through you every time.

So, what I’m planning is to establish my authority in front of your men.

Right, the exercise is to strike at their confidence.

You better think it through.”

Dani waved his hand, “I suspected as much.

Alright, do as you wish.

I have only one request: victory, and…”

Dani leaned in close to Gao Yang and whispered, “Preferably an operation that involves only our men, and it must be an impressive victory.

Brother, I know this is asking for too much.

Just do your best, I won’t force it.”

Gao Yang smiled faintly, “That’s negotiable, but the key is to have a worthy and suitable opponent.

So, it all depends on the quality of your intelligence support.

If you can find a suitable opponent, I can deliver you a great victory.”

Dani laughed heartily, squeezed his eyes at Gao Yang, and whispered, “Good, I can surely find such an opponent, just wait until you’re ready to fight.”

Gao Yang looked surprised, “Oh?

You already have a suitable target?”

Dani chuckled, “Not yet, but the whole Military Intelligence Bureau is busy with this.

Rest assured, we’ll soon find a suitable target.”

The child is still one’s own flesh; the Military Intelligence Bureau would spare no effort to find targets for their own Action Team.

Gao Yang was busy with other matters and didn’t bother with pleasantries with Dani.

He immediately stood up and said with a smile, “Okay then, go back and tell your team, the exercises start in the afternoon, they can decide on the content themselves.

Let’s leave it at that.”

After sending Dani off, Gao Yang picked up the walkie-talkie and yelled, “Everyone, come here for a meeting.

Tyrannosaurus, no need for you to come over, just stick to your tasks.”

It didn’t take long for the crowd to arrive one after another.

Mercenaries are quite informal when together.

Gao Yang clapped his hands and loudly announced, “Two things.

You all know we need to go into battle with a bunch of rookies.

Don’t object because it’s pointless – I don’t want to lead a bunch of rookies into battle either.

The point now is, we need to help these rookies mature quickly, so starting this afternoon, we’ll begin the exercises.”

Ludwig grinned silently, licked his lips, and jestingly said, “Schooling the cute little rookies?

I love it.”

Gao Yang waved his hand, “It’s not just that.

The second thing, I need volunteers to train those rookies.

The main part of the training is to lead them in combat.

Who’s interested?”

Li Yunzhe frowned, “Train them and lead them in battle?

What do you mean?”

Gao Yang shrugged, “Meaning someone needs to act as their leading officer during combat.

Of course, the one in this role will get an extra five hundred dollars daily salary, and one thousand dollars extra for combat days.”

Old hands leading the newbies, it’s the sure-fire way to rapidly increase a new troop’s combat capability.

After thinking for a while, Ludwig raised his hand, “I can lead the rookies of the Third Infantry Brigade.”

After discussing among themselves, Alcohol raised his hand, “Boss, I have a question.

That rookie squad, I mean the one the Russians are training, does it need someone to lead?”

Gao Yang nodded, “Of course, someone needs to lead.

Are you willing?”

Alcohol scratched his head, “Not really, but whether we like it or not, those rookies need someone to lead them.

The Russian Guy isn’t going to hit the battlefield, so we might as well shoulder this burden.”

Gao Yang nodded, “The troops trained by the Russian Guy, four people won’t be enough.

Anyone else willing to take charge?

Li Yunzhe raised his hand, “Assign me a ten-man squad.”

Wild Man and his team discussed briefly before raising their hands as well, “We’ll participate too.”

Gao Yang smiled, “Great, now we’re only left with the intelligence unit’s Action Team.

I need someone to act as the liaison between me and the Intelligence Agency Action Team.

Who wants to take on this role?”

Everyone looked at Yake, who shrugged, “Alright, looks like it has to be me.”

Gao Yang clapped his hands, “Guys, let’s get moving.

We have lots to do starting this afternoon.”
