The crane-haired elder was followed by two burly bodyguards.

Xiao Mengyi’s eyes were bloodshot as she stared at the crane-haired elder and said, "Long Family Steward, please go back! I will not marry into the Chen Family."

The Long Family Steward’s brows furrowed as he spoke in a cold voice, "Miss, Chen Kun has been established as the heir. By marrying him, you would become the Chen Family’s young madam, the future mistress of a top family in the provincial city."

Xiao Mengyi shook her head, a defiant look on her face, "The Xiao Family isn’t lacking unmarried girls besides me. Whoever wants to marry can go ahead, but I refuse!"

The Long Family Steward’s expression gradually turned colder, "Since the old master has sent me to bring you back, there’s no room for discussion. Please, Miss, don’t make this difficult for me."

After finishing his words, he waved his hand and ordered, "Please bring Miss back home!"

"Yes!"

The two bodyguards, one on the left and one on the right, moved towards Xiao Mengyi.

Qin Chuan answered truthfully, "I’m currently unemployed."

Qin Nian had been seriously injured and in a coma, and to take care of his sister, he had given up his job.

The Long Family Steward continued to inquire, "How many people are in your family, and what do they do?"

Qin Chuan frowned but still replied, "I’m an orphan, living with my grandfather and sister, depending on each other for survival."

The Long Family Steward let out a mocking laugh and said with a sneer, "I thought you were some young master from a wealthy family. Turns out you are just a freeloader."

Qin Chuan’s eyebrows knitted together, the other’s undisguised contempt making him very angry.

Mengyi quickly defended, "Long Family Steward, don’t spout nonsense, Qin Chuan is not that kind of person!"

The Long Family Steward sneered, "I’ll prove it to you!"

After speaking, he took out a check, swiftly wrote a few strokes, and then tossed it at Qin Chuan’s feet like trash, speaking coldly, "This is a check for one million, redeemable at any time in the Provincial City Bank. Take the money and scram!"

Qin Chuan’s face grew completely dark, still tightly holding Mengyi’s hand, with not the slightest intention of letting go.

"Hmm?"

The Long Family Steward was somewhat surprised to see Qin Chuan not even give the check a glance.

As he spoke, he wrote another check and threw it over.

After finishing, he looked at Qin Chuan and said, "Boy, just fill in the number quickly and then scram!"

Mengyi looked at Qin Chuan in surprise, could it be that he was really giving up?

The Long Family Steward issued a mocking laugh, glanced at Mengyi as if to say, this is reality!
