Chapter 451: Chapter 266: Responding to Kindness with Kindness

No matter where one engages in finance, "endorsement" is an indispensable thing.

Chen Cheng’s endorsement came from Jin Baogen, and Chen Cheng guessed that Jin Baogen’s backer was Cao Yue’s father, Cao Bofeng.

Regarding the imminent meeting with this influential figure, Chen Cheng did not have much confidence in his heart.

The biggest reason was because of Cao Yue’s unyielding character; he did not know how the agreement he had reached with him would be viewed by the older generation.

Da Lao soon arrived at the State Guesthouse. Before the car came to a stop, among a crowd of red flags, Audis, and Volkswagens, Chen Cheng spotted the red Q5.

"Xiao Hai, take the car out later, don’t stop here."

"Okay, Mr. Chen."

After getting out of the car, Chen Cheng straightened his tie. Just as he took a step, he was halted by a familiar voice.

"Xiao Chen."

Chen Cheng turned his head to look. Chu Qin had gotten off the Q5, apparently waiting specifically for him.

"Sister-in-law," Chen Cheng greeted with a smile.

Chu Qin still wore a low-key demeanor, carrying a bag worth no more than a few hundred yuan, she approached Chen Cheng, "How was it? Was there any traffic jam on the way here?"

"Not too bad, just a little congestion."

Chu Qin nodded, her eyes falling on his meticulously tied tie, she said, "Xiao Chen, today is a family banquet, no need to be so formal, take off the tie."

Knowing that listening to advice is the way to get by, Chen Cheng understood.

Since Chu Qin had spoken, he smiled and took off his tie, stuffing it into his pocket, "It’s still the sister-in-law who is thoughtful. I was so nervous that I forgot."

Watching his somewhat awkward movements, Chu Qin smiled gently, "It’s okay, it’s normal to be nervous. But you don’t have to worry, my father, although he looks stern, he’s actually very kind."

"En, Mr. Jin also told me," Chen Cheng followed up the conversation.

"Alright, with spirits high, let’s go in," Chu Qin led the way.

Chen Cheng grew up in Beijing, but this was his first time at the State Guesthouse. Walking through the ornately carved archway, he suddenly found himself in a clear opening, as if entering a royal garden.

The beauty of lakes and mountains was all in view. On the shimmering surface of the lake, a few waterfowls drifted leisurely, while in the distance, rocky hills loomed, with pavilions and towers nestled amidst the green pines and cypresses, ancient and enchanting, too beautiful for words.

Chen Cheng walked along, looking around, feeling overwhelmed by the sights.

Compared to the noise of the modern metropolis outside, this place seemed like another world, tranquil, serene, and filled with a sense of historical weight.

"How does it feel? It’s your first time here?" Chu Qin noticed his expression and smiled as she asked.

"Uh-huh, I’ve only seen it on TV before, I didn’t expect it to be even more beautiful than on TV," Chen Cheng sighed sincerely.

"Yes, every plant and tile here has witnessed the tumultuous changes of history."

Chu Qin reflected, "Back in the day, numerous country leaders and foreign heads of state have stayed here, it feels incredible to think about it."

While speaking, they arrived at an independent two-story building.

The building was a typical Chinese architectural style, with green bricks, grey tiles, carved beams and painted rafters, simple and elegant.

Two tall ginkgo trees stood in front of the door, lush and leafy, like two loyal guards, safeguarding the ancient construction.

"This is it," Chu Qin said, "Father met with foreign guests today, so we’ll just use this place to meet with you."

Chen Cheng’s eyebrows rose; watching the vermillion door being opened, he was very clear that he was about to face an important moment in his life.

As he walked into the brightly lit front hall, Chen Cheng smelled a faint scent of sandalwood.

Chu Qin glanced around, "Dad?"

"Over here."

A resonant reply came not far away. Chu Qin nodded at Chen Cheng, and they quickened their steps.

Crossing the corridor, Chen Cheng finally saw Cao Bofeng.

His back turned towards the entrance, he stood in front of a huge landscape painting, quietly admiring.

Even from the back, one could feel an aura of authority that required no anger to assert itself.

Hearing footsteps, Cao Bofeng slowly turned around.

In that instant, Chen Cheng felt an invisible pressure that almost left him breathless.

Cao Bofeng, about sixty years old, tall and upright, dressed in a simple black Zhongshan suit, could not conceal the aura of someone accustomed to being in a high position.

His face had distinct features; under a pair of thick eyebrows, sharp eyes seemed to see through everything. Although the years had left marks on his face, they added a bit more majesty and wisdom.

"Father, Xiao Chen is here," Chu Qin said with a smile, walking forward.

"Hello, Uncle." Chen Cheng stepped forward, greeting respectfully.

Cao Bofeng’s gaze fell on Chen Cheng, sizing him up, his expression deep and inscrutable.

"Hmm." After some time, he nodded slightly in acknowledgement.

The brief response held an immense force, making Chen Cheng’s heartbeat involuntarily quicken.

"Father, Xiao Chen has helped Cao Yue a lot. The two of them really hit it off."

Chu Qin was laying groundwork for Chen Cheng; Cao Bofeng’s gaze shifted from Chen Cheng to Chu Qin, not avoiding Chen Cheng, he directly commented:

"Doesn’t he usually act high and mighty? He can also hit it off with others?"

"Father, Cao Yue is just a bit stubborn, actually, he is always thinking about coming back to take care of you."

Chu Qin hurriedly explained on behalf of Cao Yue, "Also, this time, it really was thanks to Xiao Chen that the project could be set up so quickly over there."

Cao Bofeng looked at Chen Cheng again, "It’s good for young people to have drive, but you must also understand your limitations and not be overly ambitious."
