Chapter 449: Chapter 265: Honey Peach Oolong
Two hours, to Yu Xinwei, felt both interminable and fleeting.
Interminable due to the nervousness and anticipation for what was about to happen, fleeting as she was immersed in the embrace and adoration of fans, time flying by.
Chen Donghai had already parked the car on time at the back door of the flagship store, same as when they had arrived.
After bidding farewell, Yu Xinwei hurried off and dove into the car.
Her own MPV had left earlier as a decoy move.
Throughout the ride, Yu Xinwei seemed somewhat distracted, occasionally straightening her collar and hair, then looking down at her Camellia uniform, hesitating whether to change it.
She looked at Chen Donghai, who was driving. Since Chen Cheng trusted him enough to send him for the pickup, and Chen Cheng had brought him along while in Qianzhou, it meant he must be the person Chen Cheng trusted the most and who understood Chen Cheng best.
"Brother... Brother Hai." Yu Xinwei leaned forward from the back seat, cautiously asking, "Can I ask you something?"
Chen Donghai didn’t turn around, his gaze didn’t even flicker towards the rearview mirror, "Miss Yu, please speak."
"It’s just... uh, what I mean..." Yu Xinwei didn’t know how to phrase it, hesitating for a long time before squeezing out, "What do they need to prepare when they are with Mr. Chen?"
Despite having had a first encounter, Yu Xinwei was still unsure about what to do for the upcoming moment.
It seemed that her last outfit didn’t really catch Chen Cheng’s interest much.
Chen Donghai saw Yu Xinwei’s uneasy manner in the rearview mirror, understanding what she was asking but pretending to be oblivious, "Miss Yu, what are you referring to? Do you need to prepare any documents or materials?"
Yu Xinwei stammered, "No... it’s not about work... it’s a personal... matter..."
Chen Donghai still kept his eyes on the road ahead, speaking calmly, "Every woman is different."
"Different... all different?" Yu Xinwei sounded surprised.
"Some are fiery, some are gentle, some are submissive, some are rebellious," Chen Donghai said, "But Mr. Chen doesn’t like complexity and pretentiousness. Natural is best."
"Natural... what is considered natural?"
"You don’t have to deliberately prepare anything. Just being your original self is the best."
Yu Xinwei wanted to say something else but stopped herself.
Chen Donghai seemingly read her mind, "Mr. Chen has seen many, but he’s yet to experience the uniform you’re wearing."
Yu Xinwei suddenly understood; the very thing she had thought to change was indeed the perfect answer.
"Thank you, Brother Hai."
"You’re welcome."
Da Lao soon arrived at Bulgari’s underground garage. Chen Donghai got out first, took out a shopping bag from the trunk, and handed it to Yu Xinwei in the car.
"Miss Yu, inside there is a mask, a hat, and sunglasses. Mr. Chen asked me to give them to you."
Yu Xinwei took the shopping bag, feeling a trace of warmth in her heart.
Chen Cheng’s thoughtfulness made her feel much more at ease.
She put on the mask and sunglasses, hiding most of her face, leaving only her delicate chin and fair neck visible. The black baseball cap, with its brim pulled down, added a touch of mystery.
"I will wait for you downstairs. After you have finished talking with Mr. Chen, I will take you away."
Yu Xinwei nodded, then got out of the car, holding the room card given by Chen Cheng, and took the elevator.
...
...
Half an hour later, the doorbell rang.
Yu Xinwei jogged over, peeked through the peephole, and then opened the door.
"Mr. Chen."
Chen Cheng glanced at her attire and strode into the room, "Still in your work clothes?"
"I..." Yu Xinwei found an excuse, "I left the store in a hurry and didn’t have my assistant put the clothes in your car."
Chen Cheng’s footsteps halted, he turned to look at her still by the door, "It’s quite nice this way."
With Chen Cheng’s affirmation, Yu Xinwei let out a sigh of relief.
She locked the door and quickly walked up to Chen Cheng, standing straight by his side.
Chen Cheng selected something to drink from the mini bar, "Would you like a drink?"
"Sure."
As soon as Yu Xinwei responded, Chen Cheng instead got a bottle of soda water and said with a smile, "Better to drink some water. Being alert will make it more memorable."
Yu Xinwei blushed slightly, taken aback.
She realized that Chen Cheng’s words were not about her being alert, but had a suggestive meaning.
She nodded softly, took the soda water, and sipped from it.
Chen Cheng got a bottle for himself and began drinking on the sofa, "What are you thinking about?"
He broke the silence.
Yu Xinwei placed down her soda water, her gaze flickered, "Nothing... nothing much."
"Nervous?"
Yu Xinwei bit her lip, not denying.
Chen Cheng patted the space next to him, and Yu Xinwei sat down.
"It was tough on you today, working there for two hours."
Yu Xinwei shook her head, "It’s not tough; I’m just doing what I should."
Chen Cheng’s lips curved upwards, "That uniform you’re wearing..."
His fingers grazed her collar, "It’s quite special and even has a scent."
Yu Xinwei shivered, "It might be the scent of milk tea? I spilled a cup while making it."
She pointed to the stain on the apron, speaking jumbledly, "I was in a bit of a mess, didn’t notice it then and only found out later..."
Chen Cheng’s gaze followed her finger to that light brown stain, his eyes revealing an almost imperceptible hint of amusement.
"Is that so? I thought it might have been your perfume."
Yu Xinwei’s face turned an even deeper red, knowing that Chen Cheng was teasing her, and, unable to respond, let the ambiguous atmosphere spread between them.
Chen Cheng took Yu Xinwei’s hand, "I’ve been quite busy since I got back too, that’s why I haven’t come to see you."
