Chapter 7: Chapter 7

Rose was beyond shocked as she stared at her boss, whom she had just confessed her feelings a few hours ago, in his car.

From the looks of things, it even seemed like he was also respected in this realm because she noticed the creatures bowing their heads to him and making way for him to pass as he came forward.

She couldn’t believe that she was still sane with all the strange incidents that had been happening to her, maybe that fall really did a number or two on her because there was nothing here that was making sense any longer.

She eyed Elliot with an unreadable expression, in that moment, she lost trust in everything and everyone.

She slowly took a deep breath to calm herself down; at least, the beast behind her had been temporarily distracted from puncturing her neck with his sharp, prolonged nails.

She would patiently wait and find a good time to escape when he gets distracted.

"Athan!" Cassius hissed dangerously at Elliot as he approached the stage.

"Cassius," Elliot called, standing below the stage, looking up at Cassius’s darkened eyes, purposely avoiding Rose’s eyes that were staring incredulously at him.

"Everyone is dismissed, leave!" Felonious ordered the curious crowd.

Rose saw everyone immediately start to leave the hall and her heart started beating frantically again.

What were they going to do to her with everyone gone? No! She wasn’t just going to stand still and wait for them to decide her fate.

Elliot noticed that the crowd was speedily reducing inside the hall, he decided that it was now safe to talk to Cassius about Rose.

"We need to talk, Cassiu- Rose!!" Elliot’s voice boomed as he saw Rose jump off the high stage, instantly moving forward to catch her, but, in the blink of an eye, Cassius easily caught her midair in his arms, and slowly lowered himself down in front of Elliot.

Rose was utterly disappointed. How could she forget that her captor was a vampire who could fly and float in the air?

She had wanted to fall off the stage just like she had fallen off the cliff; maybe that was the crack code to all this drama. Since she got here by falling off a cliff, maybe she’ll return to her world by applying the same method that brought her here; even if it wasn’t a cliff, at least it was high enough to cause damage to her.

She didn’t care if she died and never returned to her world, as long as she didn’t get to stay here with these maniacs, she was fine with death.

But, no! The fucking vampire suddenly decided that he didn’t want her dead anymore and was now holding her safely in his arms as he lowered himself to the floor like a landing parachute.

"Let me go!" Rose screamed.

"Pathetic, Athan, pathetic," Cassius said in a bored tone as he released Rose from his arms but swiftly resumed his hold around her neck.

He was mocking Elliot for falling for a human. It has never happened in the history of their kingdom, and it was written that whoever breaks the law shall be banished into the human world without any opportunity of coming back into the Darkonis kingdom, all portals shall be shut for the defaulter.

"It’s been a long time, my friend," Elliot said cautiously as he stared at Cassius’s hand around Rose’s slim neck.

He was deeply worried about Rose, but he knew better than to act rashly in front of Cassius; he was very aware that vampires fed on people’s emotions and used them against them, and Cassius was the master of the act.

"You brought a human into my kingdom, Athan, it’s a punishable act, my dear friend," Cassius raised his hand and slowly petted Rose’s hair, looking Elliot right in the eyes as he did so, gauging his reaction.

Rose felt disgusted by his touch, she felt her skin crawl as she felt his hand on her hair. She wished she had a dagger to drive through his heart.

"Let’s talk about this in your castle, Prince Cassius," Elliot decided to address Cassius properly to show him that he was willing to negotiate. At any cost.

Cassius regarded Elliot with narrowed eyes, he knew Elliot hardly used his title when talking to him, and when he did, it meant he was in dire need of something from him.

"I-"

"Let go!" Rose suddenly raised her elbow and hit Cassius directly on the chest, making a run for it when she felt his hand slightly loosen around her neck, she didn’t care if her actions didn’t cause any hurtful impact on him, the fact that she took him unaware was her goal.

"Rose! Stop!" Elliot said urgently behind her as he noticed the blood stains trailing behind her as she ran.

"Oh no!" Rose fell to the floor as her legs went weak in fear when the vampire suddenly appeared in front of her, his eyes bloodshot red, and his fangs protruded, it was even longer and sharper than she remembered it to be.

"Blood..." Cassius hissed as he slowly approached Rose, "human blood," He licked his lips with the tip of his tongue.

"Cassius, stop!" Elliot instantly appeared between Rose and Cassius, blocking her from him.

But he knew his obstruction wouldn’t do much, he needed to stop Rose from bleeding before Cassius would be able to calm down.

He was a little taken aback because he knew Cassius never liked human blood, he always said that humans weren’t worthy to get fed on by him and he had never reacted to human blood like he was doing with Rose’s, but he blamed it on his awakening, it caused a ravenous appetite in vampires and brought about great changes their attributes too.

Maybe drinking human blood was one of his new attributes, but he wasn’t about to allow him to drink from Rose.

Rose couldn’t still find the strength to stand up and run, she kept shifting back with her buttocks sliding over the slippery floor.

"Move, Athan," Cassius warned and speedily knocked Elliot out of the way, in the next second, he had Rose in his arms, her struggles seeming to fill his hunger as it made her blood pump faster through her veins.

"No! Please! No!" Rose screamed and fought helplessly in his hold on her remained ironclad.

Elliot quickly recovered from hitting his head on the wall and creating a dent on it from his impact and the moment he saw Cassius lowering his fangs to Rose’s neck, he immediately released the beast in him.

Growl!!!

Thud!

Rose landed on the wall at the far corner of the hall, her head throbbing painfully with chronic pain, and this time, her vision went completely dark.

But she struggled to open her eyes and know what was happening around her; the growl she heard before she was pushed out of Cassius’s hold sounded so wild and dangerous; she wanted to know what it was, and... She wanted to see if Cassius was still alive, well...dead alive.

In her blurry vision, she hardly made out Felonious’s figure speeding toward her, and behind him, Cassius stood unafraid and confident in front of a huge and wild creature. He didn’t look one bit like he was bothered by the monstrous creature in front of him.

Rose internally laughed at herself; of course, he can’t be bothered by it; he’s way more lethal than the creature in front of him.

Rose knew what that creature was; even if she were to go blind, she would still be able to identify a Lycan when she saw or heard one; she had read about them all her life, not being able to identify them when faced with one would be a disgrace to the fantasy fan club.

The last thing she remembered was Felonious’s voice calling out to her as once again, unnatural sleep instantly overtook her body.

"You have to be careful, Gracia," Rose felt the voices speaking inside her head as if she was in a dream or some kind of trance.

Rose furrowed her brows, trying to make the voices go away so she could enjoy her sleep, but she strangely felt a deja vu in her actions and in the next second, "No!" She immediately sat up from the bed, hoping she had somehow managed to escape the nightmare she was having.

"Shh, relax, young lady, your heart is still beating... For now," A middle-aged woman said in the dark room.

"Who are you? A-and what do you mean for now?" Rose asked, squinting her eyes in the darkness to see who was talking to her.

"I must say, you’re too inquisitive for your condition, young lady, no wonder you almost got killed," The lady said again.

Rose heard a clicking sound and the light bulbs in the room instantly came on.

Rose was surprised to see herself in a modern-looking room, but thinking back, she had been too scared to the bones to notice the chandelier and the new-tech designs back at the common hall.

She was getting to realize that the people of this world must have moved on with the real world in terms of science and technology.

"How are you feeling?" Rose suddenly jerked backward as she felt a very cold hand against her forehead.

That’s when she realized that she’d let herself get carried away by the modern decor of the room and had forgotten to look at the owner of the voice who had been talking in the room with her.

She looked beside her to find a very beautiful woman with white hair, not grey due to age or stress, but just pure white like the snow. The hair complimented her white skin and contrasted with her yellow eyes.

Rose couldn’t help it, she was unaware that her jaw had dropped as she kept her eyes locked on the beautiful yet strange woman in front of her.

She imagined how the silky fabric of the lady’s loose orange gown would feel in her hands. She was a lover of good-quality fabrics.

"You’re feeling better, I suppose?" The lady chuckled lightly at Rose’s obvious stare of admiration.

"Uh, ahem, yes, ma’am. I’m feeling quite okay, for now," Rose replied, looking the woman up and down.

She knew without being told that the lady was a vampire, and she knew vampires were majestic and beautiful creatures, but, not in her wildest dreams had she ever imagined a vampire to look this angelic, contrary to their dark nature.

"My name is Cornelia, young lady," Cornelia informed with a small smile.
