Mated To The Dead Prince -
Chapter 48
Chapter 48: Chapter 48
Rose stepped out of the bedroom and found Cassius standing in front of the window he had found her earlier.
He drew open the curtains and even opened the windows, the cool early morning wind causing her to shiver as it caressed her body.
His transparent silk white shirt was gently flying around as the wind entered the room.
The fading moon freely illuminated the room, making the place look cozy for the first time.
"Come here," Cassius spoke without looking back at her.
Rose hugged herself and walked over to him.
"I’m here," She replied behind him.
Cassius slowly turned, staring at her naked body, "Wear this." He went behind her and made her put her hand into the same kind of shirt he was wearing; hers reached her Mid-thigh, covering her ass cheeks but still leaving nothing to his imagination due to the transparency.
Rose sighed as she felt a little warmth from the shirt, "Thank you," She said and was about to button her shirt but Cassius caught her hands.
"Let me," he whispered beside her face.
Rose shivered and lowered her hands beside her, her eyes went down, following Cassius’ hand as he slowly buttoned her up from the last button.
She bit her lips when his knuckles grazed her skin as he buttoned up her shirt.
She already knew that everything about Cassius was beautiful, including his slim, strong, and long fingers. Everything about him was seductive on its own, his aura forced people to want him without him having to do anything.
"I know you’re thinking about something right now, but I can’t read your mind. Why did you block me out?" He asked as he buttoned the second button on her chest.
Rose blinked, she was surprised, "You can’t hear my thoughts anymore?" She asked, kind of happy.
Cassius hummed, he left the last button open and slid his hand inside her shirt, cupping her breast and sighing, "I can’t, Rose, since the party, you’re pulling away from me, my little human... don’t do that," He transferred his hand to her other breast, drawing in a sharp breath as he felt the smooth, plump flesh on her chest.
"It’s not intentional," Rose whispered, her body failing her by slowly starting to respond to Cassius’ touch, her nipples hardening.
"Then open your mind to me, Rose; it’s uncomfortable not knowing what my little human wants," He kissed the side of her neck.
"Ahh..." Rose moaned softly, his wet mouth on her neck and his fingers strumming her nipple made her drowsy in lust.
’My mind is opened, Cassius,’ She spoke through the mind link.
Cassius heard it, followed by a low vibration that silently shot through his body. He’d never said it, but each time he heard Rose’s voice in his head, it weakened him to the bones. Unconsciously, it softened a part of him for her, and by the time he realized it, it might be too late for him; the damage might be too deep to repair.
He gently turned Rose around, "Sleep with me," he said.
Rose nodded and was about to turn her back for him but he stopped her by holding her shoulder.
"Not that... I meant sleeping, little human. Look, the sun is almost out, not good for me." He pointed out to the golden sky.
"Oh, then let me return to the -"
"No." Cassius sighed.
He closed the windows and the curtains, and then slowly turned to face Rose.
"You’re staying here with me this morning, Rose. Are we clear?" He touched her face.
"Is it allowed? For a slave to see you at your weakest? A human?" She asked quietly.
"I can return to the quarters if you have no use for me anymore, I’d prefer to go, Master," She said, looking away from him.
She felt rejected, she had thought that Cassius was going to have sex with her before dawn, but it seemed like he had his full with his elven slave and wasn’t in the mood for anyone else.
But then, why did she want him?
Shouldn’t she be happy that he doesn’t want her at the moment? After all, that was the reason why she told him to get other slaves so that she could have some breathing space; however, now that she got the breathing space, she didn’t seem to be at peace with it.
She wanted him.
"You’d prefer to leave? You’re not willing to stay with me? Is this your way of pointing out my inability to walk under the sun?" Cassius looked forlorn as he walked over to his bed and lowered himself by the edge.
"I’m not mocking you, M-"
"Cassius. Whenever you’re here with me you can call me by my name," He said, without looking at Rose.
"Okay..." She looked over at him and sighed.
She walked over and sat beside him, "You don’t want to have sex with me?" She placed a hand on his thigh.
Cassius frowned, "Is that the only reason you think I’d want you here?" He questioned.
Rose chuckled, "Yes. I’m your sex slave, what other purpose do I serve for you?" She asked quietly.
Cassius couldn’t answer her question; she was right, and he was wrong for asking her to stay back. Slaves were never meant to sleep in their master’s chambers, and it’s never been heard in the history of vampires that a king let a slave sleep in his chamber.
It was dangerous, too; letting a slave see you at your weakest was an unthinkable act; that was a vampire’s most vulnerable moment, and Rose had stated that she hated him; still, he wanted her to be beside him when the sun rose in the kingdom.
He should send her away immediately, but he didn’t. He was angry at himself for wanting an enemy close; again, he knew that it was the mate bond that Felonious had mentioned that was trying to keep them together by all means, but if he was being brutally honest with himself, he’d realize that the choice he made at that moment was a hundred percent his, he craved her presence.
"Then I order you as your master to spend a night with me. What do you take me for? A sex maniac?" He clenched his fist and glared at Rose.
Rose stared at him for a while, "Then I shall sleep with you, Master," She shook her head, stood, and walked over to the other side of the bed, gently getting on it and sticking to her side.
Cassius turned and noticed how Rose was almost falling off the bed because she didn’t want to get close to him. He comfortably lay on the bed and watched her stare at the closed window.
"I don’t hear your thoughts again," He said in a soft voice.
Rose shrugged very slightly, "It’s not my fault," She replied.
’I can finally have my privacy.’
Cassius frowned, "Are you so afraid of me that your mind is blocking me out to protect you?" He questioned.
Rose grazed her fingers over the smooth, velvet bed cover, "I don’t know, Cassius." She kept staring at the closed window.
"Come here," He gently tapped the space beside him.
Rose looked at him, he looked calm, but she knew that a refusal from her would remove that calm demeanor from him.
She took a deep breath and shifted over to him.
Cassius easily drew Rose into his arms and held up her face, "Do you miss the sun?" He asked, looking into her blue eyes.
Rose nodded, "Yes." She simply replied.
Cassius’ face was unreadable, "Athan can walk under the sun... I cannot," He reminded.
Rose bit her lips, getting an idea where their conversation was going, "I know that," She said cautiously.
Cassius gave her a bitter smile, "Then you’d rather be with him?" He leaned closer to her face.
Rose smiled sadly; she looked into his green eyes and replied to him, "I’d rather be by myself, Cassius. I don’t want anything or anyone, I just want my life back," She muttered the last part.
His arm tightened around her, "You want to leave me?" His voice was low, brewing anger.
Rose gulped, "I do, but I can’t. You’re holding me hostage, my freedom is yours. It’s only but wishful thinking," She thought of the best diplomatic reply.
"You see yourself as only my hostage?" He frowned, searching her beautiful face.
Rose sighed and suddenly kissed him, "Good morning, Cassius," She comfortably placed her head on the pillow beside him and closed her eyes.
’What else should I see myself as?’
Perhaps, mornings really brought out different sides to a vampire because she couldn’t come up with any other reason why Cassius has been acting strange since after he left his elven slave.
She knew he was staring at her, but tiredness won; she drifted off to sleep, unconsciously aware that she was still lying with an enemy.
Cassius was confused; he, too, didn’t know what was wrong with him. All he knew was that the little human in front of him was somehow managing to reach something within him, something he couldn’t identify yet, and until he identified what it was, he was never letting her go.
He gathered Rose in his arms and placed her head on his chest, "You’re trouble, little human, a trouble I can’t let go of..." He sighed and closed his eyes, feeling a sense of tranquility within him as he slowly lulled himself to sleep with the sound of Rose’s steady heartbeat.
