Mated To The Dead Prince -
Chapter 30
Chapter 30: Chapter 30
Cassius didn’t like it.
The way his body was reacting to Rose alarmed him.
He wasn’t supposed to feel that way about her yet he felt himself losing control over her.
First, he wasn’t supposed to have sex with a human, but he’d done it anyway. He thought it’d just be that, sex, but it wasn’t, he would feel himself getting addicted to her voice, to her touch, to her body, to her scent, and he couldn’t imagine how it would feel when he had a taste of her blood.
Humans were not trustworthy, and he had a valid reason for not trusting them, he wasn’t about to let history repeat itself, never.
Rose was a slave. And he intended to keep her as his slave forever. He wasn’t stupid; he knew his body craved her, and she might just be the only woman who’d ever entice him; she had something about her that charmed him, and he always got what he wanted, but he never let her get what she wanted.
He stepped into his room in a black bathrobe and sniffed the scent in the room.
It was her scent, mixed with the scent of the rose flower she’d brought him, just that her scent was sweeter and more enticing than the flowers.
He was going to have a meeting with the so-called council to change some stupid rules they’d made in his kingdom.
Nonpure blood should never attend Krevborne; it was his rule, and it’s been that way since the rule of his father and his. So changing it suddenly to benefit the half-bloods wasn’t something he wasn’t ready to accept or change.
Downstairs, Dabmond was already waiting at the door of the red-carpeted stairs; he saw Cassius walking down in a silky red shirt and midnight black pants and thought he was dressed quite stylish and out of character.
He wondered if someone informed him about the surprise he had for him, but he doubted if he knew, he would have asked him to cancel it.
Cassius was unusually in an all-black attire; what was with the extra charm and allure of his red shirt? He even had his hair, which was usually left free, styled into a smooth, low pony.
But he dared not comment on it; he still wanted his head on his shoulder.
Maybe Damien and Damien might be bold enough to comment but not him.
"Brother," Dabmond bowed as Cassius stopped in front of him.
"Are they gathered?" Cassius asked, his green eyes searched his brother carefully.
Dabmond nodded, "Yes, brother. Uncle has already assembled everyone in the great hall," He informed.
Cassius paused, "Jaroslav?" He questioned with a hint of darkness.
Davmond cleared his throat, "Yes." He replies.
"Mm," Cassius nodded and marched out of the blood castle.
Dabmond sighed quietly and followed him out.
The moon had an orange hue as usual; the shadows of the trees stretched into the long veranda, and owls could be heard hooting not far away.
Cassius marched elegantly to the smaller building beside the blood castle, that’s where he had different types of halls for different occasions.
He walked up the short stairs and stood beside the door; not long after, Dabmond walked forward and opened the door for him.
Cassius marched into a very large hall, he used that hall for celebrations, but he wasn’t sure the kingdom was going to celebrate anything any time soon.
He moved forward, his feet sounding gently on the sturdy wood of the floor.
"They’re right in here, brother," Dabmond bowed and pointed him to the door at the darker corner of the hall.
Cassius didn’t stop moving; he went on, and the door slowly opened by itself; slowly, he stepped into a dark room.
The flickering candles on the floor surrounding the round table were the only source of light in the room; it wasn’t even as if they needed it.
The elders seated at the table stood the moment Cassius walked into the room, their heads bowed in respect.
Cassius strode with his intimidating aura toward the center of the table where he had a high-throned chair shaped like a bat.
"Welcome back to the circle, Master," The elders chanted.
Cassius stood in front of the chair and watched them, they all still had their heads bowed, waiting for his order to sit.
Dabmond was standing beside him; he didn’t sit, because he wasn’t qualified to sit with the elders yet.
He might be pure blood but rules were rules, and traditions had to be maintained.
His place was beside his brother, where he stood and observed and only input his opinion if permitted.
"Sit," His smooth, eerie voice rang out in the quiet hall.
The elders quietly lowered themselves to their seats and kept their eyes locked on the smooth brown table before them; they could feel the unspoken anger from their master, so they were scared to be the first to speak.
Cassius turned his face to the side and looked at the slim man beside him; the man’s grey hair was neatly combed behind him, his face shaven and smooth.
"Jaroslav," Cassius called.
"Yes, Master," Jaroslav answered, his hands properly placed on his thighs.
"Remind us once again, the rules regarding Krevborne," Cassius didn’t move his eyes away from Jaroslav.
He was still standing, making him more daunting and intimidating to the elders.
Jaroslav quietly cleared his throat before he bowed his head, "Yes, Master," He replied.
"Only purebloods are to attend. If given a pass as a half-blood, going through the institution will never make you a pureblood. Every student must put the institution’s image first before their own..."
Jaroslav continued the long list of rules and Cassius quietly listened, waiting for him to finish.

"Hurry, eat up, Rose; you have to serve them at the great hall," Cornelia reminded Rose, who was sitting on her bed eating the food she’d made for her.
She pitied the poor girl, but she couldn’t help her unless she wanted both of them to die.
Rose sniffed and wiped her silent tears, "Great hall?" She asked in a hoarse voice.
Cornelia nodded and paced a cup of water on the floor beside Rose.
"Yes, Rose. He’s having a meeting with the elders, and it’s the first one he’s had since you woke him; it’s ritual they drink blood on this meeting," Cornelia informed.
She knew Roae was sad, angry even. The poor girl had just lost her Virginity to an unfeeling Vampire, and she knew it wasn’t about to get any better; she just hoped Rose wouldn’t give her heart to Cassius, for vampires were masters of seduction but were cruel in love.
She knew Rose wanted to talk about her experience with Cassius but it wasn’t allowed. What the master did was his business, she or anyone else had no right to speak about it.
"Am I allowed in there?" Rose asked.
She didn’t want to go where she wasn’t wanted.
If there’s anything she knew about vampire elders, they were more ruthless and more traditional than the younger ones.
If she, a human, suddenly walked into their sacred presence, the elders could easily coerce Cassius I to kill her for disrupting their meeting.
"You’re the only one fit for it, Rose, you’re the master’s slave, and you already have his scent, no one darts to hurt you," Cornelia informed.
"What?" Rose asked, looking at Cornelia in shock, "I have his scent?" Her voice was quiet.
Cornelia smiled and nodded, "Don’t worry, no one’s going to stare at you weirdly. It just showed that both of you have been together, and only pureblood vampires can leave their scents on their mates or women," She said.
"I’m neither..." ’So why did he leave his scent on me?’ She thought the last part to herself.
"Well, I don’t have any explanation for it, maybe you can ask him yourself," Cornelia took the empty plate from Rose, picked the water from the floor, and pushed it into her hand.
"Yeah, I can ask him, and just get myself killed," Rose muttered.
Cornelia chuckled and shook her head, she found Rose to be very funny despite her efforts to look sad.
"Come on, don’t keep them waiting, or you’ll be getting yourself killed for real this time," She said to Roae and motioned for her to stand up with her hands.
Rose sighed and gulped down the water.
"Thanks for the food, Cornelia, I’d have starved all day," Rose appreciated.
"You’re welcome, come on, let’s go," Cornelia led Rose to the kitchen and gave her a round tray, then she proceeded to line up glasses on the tray.
"This is his," She placed the biggest shinier glass apart.
Rose bit her lips and nodded.
"Here’s the blood jug; remember, never fill a glass to the brim; only half of it is what they require," She warned Rose.
Rise stared at her and slowly nodded, "Understood."
"Come on, I’ll show you the way," Cornelia said and left the kitchen.
Rose carefully followed her out of the castle, staring around as they walked along the Varenda to get to the smaller house beside it.
She followed the woman into the big hall and paused when the woman stopped in front of a door.
"Right in there, Rose. Go," Cornelia gently pushed the door open and nodded at Rose.
Rose took a deep breath and slowly walked into the room.
