Mated To The Cruel Prince
Chapter 81: Given Up On Her Life

Chapter 81: Given Up On Her Life

Islinda had a bad dream.

In that dream, she killed somebody. Not exactly somebody, but her sister Remy and Valerie walked in on her trying to bury the body. She could not forget the look on his face, the vivid disgust with which he stared at her. She tried to explain to him why she did it, but he wouldn’t even listen and just when she was about to go to him, someone grabbed her.

It was Aldric.

"I see the same darkness in you, Islinda. You belong with me." He said, beginning to tug on her arm.

"No, no, no," She shook her head frantically, "Valerie....!" Islinda screamed his name. She begged him for help, but he turned his back on her.

"Valerie....!" Islinda screamed, startled awake.

She was breathing heavily and beads of sweat formed on her forehead. Islinda forced herself into a sitting position and the world whirled around her. The dream had left an unpleasant aftertaste such that her head spun and her stomach twisted in knots.

She must be sick, Islinda thought as she leaned across the bed, dangling dangerously at the edge, and sucked in a lungful of air until she felt better. Thankfully, she didn’t throw up, that would have been messy.

Islinda closed her eyes to rest a bit only to realize her surroundings were unfamiliar and her eyes narrowed at once. Where was she? The bed was soft, extremely soft - the softest she has ever lain in to be precise. Then the memories hit her and she jumped from the bed as if it hurt her.

That bastard!

He brought her here! Where was here?! What does he plan to do with her here?! How was she going to get out of here?!

Islinda was confused and had no idea what to do. But anger was very much running through her veins and she intended to bring it down on him. It was said that hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, Aldric was about to get it from her. Only death would stop their wretched fate.

Without further ado, Islinda stomped over to the door and turned the knob and as expected, it was locked. That son of a devil was going to get it from her.

"Aldric, open the door this instant! You cannot keep me here forever! I am not your slave and I refuse to be one! Let me out now!" She pounded her fists on the door.

When there was no response, she resorted to threatening him, "If you don’t let me out of here, I’m going to kill myself." She cackled like a witch, "You have plans for me, right? Well, I’m going to ruin that!"

Islinda turned around as she spoke, searching for a weapon to fulfill her threat but her room seemed bare of one. The room contained the large bed she had slept on, a hearth, an armoire, a chair, and a study table and yet there was still enough space left.

No, her room alone was almost the size of her cottage back at home. The walls were decorated with an aesthetic tapestry and Islinda had no doubt the sun and moon drawings had cultural representation for the Fae. The room was luxurious.

But if this was a bribe to buy her over, It. Was. Not. Going. To. Work.

"You bastard!" Islinda screamed at the top of her voice. No, she was losing her mind. Was this his plan all along, to break her with the silence?

She huffed as if she was going to stay still.

Having made up her mind, Islinda took several steps back. She planned to break down the door. Sucking a deep breath, she narrowed her gaze on the target, then released it and dashed forward with a war cry.

Seconds away from throwing her entire weight on the target, the door swung open but Islinda could not control her momentum anymore. The Fae stepped out of the way with a shocked expression and Islinda ran through the passageway, crashing into the wall.

"Oww," She groaned on the floor, cradling her right arm as tears stung her eyes. Why was all of this happening to her?

"My lady!" The Fae panicked and came to her aid, hovering over her with concern and Islinda was rendered speechless.

The Fae was beautiful. Breathtakingly beautiful with her long silver hair that flowed down to her waist and lavender eyes. Yes, she had lavender eyes. It was suddenly laughable to think that Valerie had fallen in love with her. An ordinary human. There was nothing spectacular about her looks. She couldn’t even best this Fae in looks - and she was the first female Fae she has seen.

Islinda suddenly felt insecure.

"Oh, my Fae!" The woman exclaimed, helping her to her feet.

Islinda wobbled a bit but gained her footing in the end, only to jerk from the Fae’s grasp when she had only been helping her. And by the gods, the Fae was taller now she stood.

The Fae did not point out her attitude, rather she smiled kindly and introduced herself, "My lady, I am Aurelia, the head staff and the one in charge of your needs for the entirety of your stay here,"

"Aurelia..." Islinda tasted the name on her lips and strangely enough, it fitted her.

Aurelia went on to say, "For the moment, we need to get you dressed up for dinner with Master Aldric."

And there, the name alone was enough to dampen her mood. Islinda’s expression changed and she faced Aurelia,

"Since we are on the matter, I need to speak with your master. Take me to him."

"Yes, I would take you to him once you’re decent." Aurelia said with an amiable expression even though her gaze took her in with disdain.

Islinda had forgotten about the blood, but it was not her priority.

"No..." Islinda pinched the bridge of her nose, "You don’t understand, I need to meet him now!" She demanded.

"I’m sorry, my lady, but I can’t disobey the master’s order. Trust me, you don’t want to either."

Islinda scoffed, "Trust me, I’ve already given up on my life. I’m intentionally asking for death," She explained, hoping that the fae would understand.

Instead Aurelia’s expression suddenly turned chilly, her lips pressing into a thin line. Without a response to her, she clapped her hands twice and two other Fae appeared at her side before Islinda could blink.

She instructed, "Give the lady a bath."
