Chapter 597: Snowball Kiss

Chapter 597: Snowball Kiss

Islinda soon learned Fae children were drawn to fun like a magnet and they couldn’t resist the allure like a moth to the flame. As the snowball fight ensued between Islinda, Aldric, and the children, laughter filled the air, blending with the sounds of gleeful shouts and playful banter. With the children teaming up against them, Islinda and Aldric found themselves reluctantly joining forces, their competitive spirits giving way to cooperation.

Islinda scooped up snow in her palm while Aldric effortlessly conjured snowballs in his hands, hurling them at the children with precision. Despite their best efforts, they were outnumbered, and Islinda soon realized just how playful and competitive the children could be.

Using their winter powers, the children unleashed a barrage of snowballs, forcing Aldric to play both defense and offense. He raised a protective shield of ice to block the attacks while also launching snowballs back at them. Although Aldric could easily overpower the children, he deliberately held back, allowing the children and himself to enjoy the game to its fullest.

However, the children proved to be more mischievous than expected. One of them created a hidden hound of snow, causing Islinda to lose her footing and tumble forward with an undignified yelp. Before she could brace herself, she crashed into Aldric, and the force of her fall sent them both sprawling onto the ground in a tangle of limbs.

As they lay there, stunned and tangled together, their eyes met, and a moment of silence passed between them. Islinda found herself captivated by Aldric’s mesmerizing blue eyes. They seemed to hold a depth of emotion that she couldn’t quite comprehend, drawing her in with their intensity. Her gaze involuntarily flickered down to his lips, full and inviting, tempting her to lean in for a kiss. The desire pulsing through her veins urged her to close the gap between them, her heart racing with anticipation.

Aldric’s eyes met hers, and for a moment, they seemed to communicate without words. Islinda felt a rush of emotions swirling within her, unsure of what to do next. It was as if he was waiting for her to make the first move, to bridge the gap between them. Instead she hesitated, breaking the spell they were under.

A surge of panic washed over Islinda as she realized the gravity of their close proximity. Finally, she attempted to lift herself off him, bracing herself on her elbow. However, her hand slipped on the snow, causing her to lose her balance. In an unfortunate twist of fate, her mouth landed on Aldric’s in an unexpected kiss, leaving both of them stunned by the sudden turn of events.

Islinda stilled on top of Aldric, the sensation of their lips touching sending a jolt of warmth coursing through her veins. She froze, wondering what Aldric must think of her now. She had been the one to start the "no touching" rule and had promised to equally keep her hands off him. What would he think now?

But Islinda’s worries faded away as Aldric slid his hand around her neck, gently fisting it in her hair and deepening the kiss. In that moment, time seemed to stand still, the laughter and chaos of the snowball fight fading into the background. Their hearts pounded in sync with the rush of adrenaline from the playful snowball fight, consumed by the electrifying connection between them.

By the gods... Islinda moaned as Aldric thrust his tongue into her mouth, his hand holding her head as he dominated her with his kiss. In that moment, Islinda felt the power he held over her, a power she feared. She was afraid of falling for Aldric so deeply that she would blindly follow him, even if it meant compromising her morals. She wanted to be able to challenge him at every turn, to stand up to him if he hurt someone she cared about for his own goals. And she wanted the freedom to leave him if things ever became unbearable.

But then, how could she ever leave him when he ignited a fire within her with just one touch? When there was this constant ache in her chest, a feeling of emptiness, whenever he was far away. The worst had come to pass — she was hopelessly in love with him. No matter how hard she tried to push him away, no matter how much she told herself that this was a bad idea and that she would only end up getting hurt in the end.

However, she had to keep trying. To shield her heart from Aldric — the ultimate weapon that he needed. So she would start fighting in three ... two.... Oh, wait, they were not done yet. Islinda couldn’t resist him. Aldric continued kissing her, their tongues entwined in a slow, sensual dance. It was an intoxicating feeling, as if they were the only two people in the world. He devoured her as if he were famished, and Islinda surrendered herself to him completely until she couldn’t distinguish up from down anymore.

It wasn’t until the sound of laughter surrounded them that they broke apart. It was the winter Faeries, chuckling as they watched the scene play out. But their amusement didn’t stop there; others teased them about the apparent romance blossoming between the two of them.

Flushed with embarrassment, Islinda scrambled to her feet, offering a hand to Aldric to help him up. But as he reached out to grasp her hand, Aldric playfully attempted to pull her back down with him, a mischievous glint in his eyes.

However, Islinda, swiftly sidestepped his playful advance, narrowly avoiding an awkward collision again. She brushed the snow off her coat and cast a pointed glance at Aldric, silently warning him to behave.

"This was beyond our control, we had no idea this would happen," Islinda quickly made up an excuse for the unexpected kiss, feeling the need to downplay the significance of the moment.

"Mmmhmm, if you say so," Aldric responded with a hint of skepticism, though he decided to let it slide for now. Despite Islinda’s attempt to rationalize it, he couldn’t deny the thrill he felt from their kiss. It was a small victory for him in their ongoing game of wills. A step closer to breaking down Islinda’s resistance to their undeniable chemistry bond.

Aldric’s smile warmed Islinda’s heart, reassuring her that they were both on good terms again and she was glad for his understanding. But Islinda noticed Elena watching them from the corner of her eye with a death glare. Islinda turned to face her, meeting her glare with a steely gaze of her own

Islinda might not have been the best judge of character, but there was something off about Elena, and she was determined to uncover her intentions. For now, however, she held the upper hand, knowing she had Aldric’s attention and perhaps even his affection.
