Mated To The Cruel Prince
Chapter 595: Choose Your Poison

Chapter 595: Choose Your Poison

For the second time, Islinda found herself at a loss for words. She looked fiercely at the Fae, sputtering over her words. "Y—yo—you don’t understand! There’s this.... He has this feud with his brother. He’s probably doing this out of spite!"

"Interesting," the Fae said, stroking her chin. "You were together with his brother?"

"It’s her fiancé," Islinda gestured to Elena not far away, then added immediately, "Not that he was at the time."

For once, it was satisfying to see the Fae gobsmacked and not the other way around.

"Now that is a hot mess considering she’s now going after your fiancé," the Fae said.

"It is," Islinda concurred until she realized what the Fae just said. She protested, "No, he’s not my...." She sighed, realizing the Fae was still toying with her.

"Cut it out," she told her, "You can now see reasons why I can’t trust his kindness."

"Indeed. I’m trying to understand why anyone would care out of spite."

"What?"

The Fae looked at her with eyes full of centuries of experience, then her gaze to the coat around her. "Do you even know what creature the pelt of this coat is made from?"

Islinda shook her head. She had no idea.

"It is the Frostfang Lupusaris, a species of what your kind call wolves. They are extremely aggressive, and there are enough records of Fae meeting their demise trying to hunt it down. Thanks to that, its pelt is extremely expensive, and only a limited number of high Fae can boast of possessing it. It’s seen as an honor to even own one because its pelt shields against the harshest of winter. And yet, he simply gave it to you without telling you its worth? As if it’s nothing compared to your overall well-being."

Islinda’s heart began to beat fast. What was the Fae trying to say? That Aldric truly liked her and this was not his twisted game or something?

She chuckled and continued, "I also believe that if he had ulterior motives for giving you that, he’d probably tell you its worth, so you can feel indebted and as well touched by his kindness. That way, he has you where he wants you. I wonder if you know that whoever plans to seduce should be careful, lest be seduced as well." The Fae finalized her words with a naughty wink in her direction.

Islinda was dumbstruck, her heart beating so fast at the possibility of what the Fae was insinuating. No, it can’t be possible. Aldric only wants her body, for the pleasure she can provide him. Not to mention, he’s mildly obsessed with her. Who was she kidding? He would never let her go. For all she knows, Aldric was merely preserving her knowing how valuable she is to him.

As if the Fae could sense the warring thoughts in her head, she said with a sigh, "But then what do I know? I might be wrong. However...." She suddenly fixed Islinda with a gravelly stern stare that sent shivers up her spine, "I’ve seen enough humans owned by high Fae, and none of them are treated as well as you are. They are nothing more than playthings. Their lives are considered useless and worthless. Human life means nothing here; your kind is snuffed out for sport, labor, and mostly to satisfy the basest desires of their Fae lords."

A trickle of fear crept up Islinda’s spine as she imagined Aldric doing all this to her. She had heard of the brutal nature of the Fae and what they did to humans, using them as a source of entertainment without care for their well-being. This fear had made her wary of Valerie until he proved her wrong. But when Aldric took her, she had been certain that would be her fate. Yet he had other, more seductive ideas.

Aldric had never forced himself on her, unlike her beloved Valerie, whom she had trusted so much yet who had attempted to. Aldric would only "coax" or "persuade," but he would never do anything she didn’t want to. Each seduction was one her base form had truly enjoyed. By the gods, Islinda realized how lucky she was.

The Fae continued speaking, the pressure Islinda felt easing as the female straightened up. "Unfortunately, I will not apologize for my kind’s antics. It is our way of life, valuing casual brutality and amoral pursuit of pleasure. We are not humans, after all, and our resilience to change is evident. Unlike your kind, with their short lifespan and ever-growing technology, we remain consistent in our culture. The strongest of the fittest rule, as it makes sense that the predator rules the prey."

She leaned closer to Islinda, whispering directly into her ears, "I am not trying to belittle your race or force you to make a decision, but this is just a little advice." She paused for effect before continuing, "There are not many high Fae in our realm with that amount of kindness. No, we are not kind at all. You are right to fear he has a motive. Hardly anything we do for humans is free of charge. We are poison to humans. But if I were you, I would choose my poison carefully."

Islinda shivered involuntarily, watching as the Fae leaned back with a creepy smile on her face, making her begin to question if she had been right to trust this seemingly innocent older Fae. But then nothing was ever harmless in Astaria. However, Islinda did not think she had given her anything to be used against her. She had not even revealed Aldric’s identity.

As the Fae stood up gracefully with her empty plate, her gaze went over to where Aldric stayed with the younglings. She smirked at Islinda and said, "If you still don’t want him, simply recommend me to him."

"What?" Islinda’s jaw dropped to the ground.

The Fae gestured to her face, "Don’t mind my appearance; I’m still quite flexible in bed."

Islinda’s face went scarlet red while The Fae burst into laughter and left Islinda behind.

Damn the shameless Fae!
