Chapter 583: Strip Her Title As Fae Queen.

"So this has been your plan all along?" Queen Maeve questioned, her voice dripping with venom.

King Oberon regarded her with an incredulous look. "What are you implying?"

"I wouldn’t be surprised if you orchestrated this from the beginning," Maeve accused, her tone sharp with bitterness. "When Valerie was injured, you sent Aldric after him instead of your best soldiers. You must have taught Aldric how to taunt and goad my son until he got into this predicament." Her eyes bore into his, filled with accusation.

"You believe I orchestrated this? That I conspired with Aldric to harm Valerie?" King Oberon’s voice was laced with indignation. "How dare you? How dare you accuse me of such treachery? To suggest that I would jeopardize the lives of my own sons?!" His anger flared, his gaze hardening as he rebuked her accusation.

But even as tension crackled between them and the temperature plummeted, Maeve remained unyielding, her defiance unshaken. "Just confess the truth, Oberon," she challenged, her voice sharp. "Admit that you’ve always harbored a soft spot for the boy. You couldn’t bring yourself to kill him, despite the threat he posed to our realm. Why? Because he was Nova’s child. Your mate’s son whom you failed to protect—!"

Before Maeve could finish her accusation, King Oberon’s hand lashed out, striking her across the face with a resounding crack. But that was not the end of it. He seized her forcefully, his icy touch enveloping her, causing frost to spread rapidly over her form. This time, there was a murderous intent in his eyes.

"How dare you?!" Oberon hissed through clenched teeth as he continued to freeze her, his rage boiling over. Veins bulged on his face and neck, his eyes wide and dark with fury as he exacted his final punishment.

Blinded by the red haze of anger, Oberon’s vision narrowed to a pinpoint focus on Maeve. She had crossed a line, and all semblance of restraint vanished as he grappled with her audacity.

"How dare you bring up Nova’s name with those wretched lips of yours after what you’ve done?!" His voice thundered, reverberating off the icy walls of the room. "You took her from me, and yet you dare to accuse me of being partial in the way I treated my son? How dare you question my dedication and responsibility to my sons? Aldric has never received half the love I showered on Valerie! And yet you still blame him for the failings of your weak son, Valerie?! You expect me to kill what’s left of Nova after you tore her away from me?!"

His words echoed in the frozen chamber, the intensity of his fury shaking the very air around them.

Queen Maeve’s breath hitched as the coldness gripped her, stealing the air from her lungs. Frost crept up her body, reaching her neck, as she met Oberon’s furious gaze head-on. Despite the impending threat of death, Maeve found herself chuckling.

"Fine, kill me," she taunted, her voice tinged with defiance. "I’m sure the people of Astaria would be delighted to learn that their beloved queen met her end at the hands of her own husband, and that you’ve undone everything you’ve worked for over the years."

Her words hung heavy in the frigid air, a stark reminder of the consequences of Oberon’s actions. Yet that confidence in her tone taunted and pissed off Oberon, and he was determined to go through with his plan of murdering her.

As the frost encroached upon her, Maeve’s bravado faltered, replaced by a flicker of fear in her eyes. She saw the madness lurking within Oberon, a darkness that mirrored his son Aldric’s, and for the first time, she admitted the resemblance between Aldric and Oberon

She opened her eyes to scream and ask him what the hell he was doing. Amid her taunts, she was certainly not thinking of dying here or if Oberon preferred a slow death, ending up as one of the frozen statues for forever. She couldn’t imagine the thought of her nemesis Queen Nirvana coming in here and laughing at her statue.

By the gods, Valerie couldn’t see her like this. Her pride wouldn’t even allow it. Worse, would Oberon even have a befitting burial for her? What if he reveals her crime of what she did to Nova and she’s cast away as a reject. The only reason he hadn’t made her crime public was because of the power she wielded in the summer court and what his nefarious son Aldric might do. In his rage, he hooks destroy eveything that they’ve worked for so far.

As the frost closed in, Queen Maeve’s mind raced with countless thoughts, until one of her eyes was frozen over.

"No... Oberon!" she attempted to cry out, but it was too late, and then there was nothing.

Darkness enveloped Maeve’s vision, convincing her that this was surely the end. Suddenly, the ice was blasted away, and she collapsed to the floor, gasping for breath. As she struggled to regain her composure, she gazed up at the figure before her, who regarded her with an indifferent expression.

She rasped, "Why didn’t you do it? Why didn’t you kill me?"

King Oberon looked at her coldly as he answered, "A power vacuum in the Summer court would serve me no purpose right now. Besides, I’m certain Valerie wouldn’t want me to act out of rage and end his mother’s life. But make no mistake, Maeve, my hesitation doesn’t indicate weakness. From this moment on, I strip you of your title as Fae Queen.

Enjoy your new role as my ordinary wife."

"No, no, no, you wouldn’t dare..." Queen Maeve attempted to rise, only to stumble and fall to the floor, weakened by his attack.

Desperate for his attention, Maeve summoned her summer power and tried to attack him from behind, but the flame faltered, overwhelmed by the cold of the ice room. She had forgotten how powerful how Oberon was.

"Oberon!" she screamed, "Don’t leave me here. Oberon!"

But he never glanced back.
