Chapter 565: A Clash Of Princes — 1

The sun blazed hotter that afternoon as Valerie, the Summer Fae prince, and Aldric, the Dark Fae prince, faced each other with smoldering intensity. The air crackled with energy, a palpable tension that promised an imminent clash of powers.

Valerie stood tall and regal, his long red hair shimmering in the hot afternoon sun. His eyes, a striking shade of golden, blazed with righteous fury as he summoned the essence of summer around him, the air humming with the energy of life and prepared to face his formidable opponent.

Aldric, his cloak billowing around him like a shadowy shroud, exuded an aura of darkness that seemed to swallow the very light around him. His midnight-blue hair framed his chiseled features, and his piercing blue eyes gleamed with a feral intensity. Dark shadows coiled around him like serpents, pulsating with ominous power, ready to strike at his command.

The two princes launched themselves into battle as soon as Islinda got out of the way, their powers colliding in a spectacular display of light and darkness.

Valerie launched the first attack, still reeling from the punch from Aldric, summoning forth a wave of scorching heat, illuminating the scene with bursts of golden light that caused Islinda to shield her eyes from the blinding sunlight.

He sent the barrage of fiery projectiles hurtling towards Aldric, wielding it with grace and precision. But Aldric was quick to respond, conjuring a wall of swirling darkness to deflect the onslaught. The flames licked at the edges of the shadowy barrier, but Aldric remained unscathed.

With a wicked grin, Aldric retaliated, unleashing a torrent of shadowy tendrils that lashed out towards Valerie with deadly precision. Valerie danced nimbly between the dark tendrils, evading each strike.

The ground trembled beneath their feet as they traded blows, each strike sending shockwaves rippling through the air. Valerie’s flames blazed and stuttered out in the face of Aldric’s darkness, while Aldric’s shadows recoiled from the searing intensity of Valerie’s summer magic.

Valerie and Aldric circled each other like predators, their eyes locked in a fierce battle of wills. Valerie fought with all his strength, his heart ablaze with determination to protect his kingdom from his brother’s darkness that threatened to consume it.

He summoned forth the power of the sun, unleashing torrents of searing light that seared through the shadows with blinding intensity. But Aldric was relentless, his chilling laughter piercing through the air. Islinda could tell from the hysterical laughter alone that Aldric was having fun unlike his brother’s serious nature.

He was taunting and goading Valerie, which was shown in the way he countered Valerie’s attacks with waves of darkness, like an adult teaching a sulking child a lesson. Valerie must have sensed it because he gritted his teeth, his own attack becoming more potent than the last.

But with each passing moment, the fight intensified, fueled by the raw emotion coursing through their veins. Even Islinda was no longer safe as she avoided the stray attacks, sparks flying, holes punching through walls and the air crackling with pent-up energy as they fought with all the fury and determination of two opposing forces of nature.

But even as the clash reached its climax, neither Valerie nor Aldric showed any sign of yielding. In the end, only one of them would emerge victorious. So amid the chaos and destruction, each was determined to emerge triumphant in the battle for supremacy.

With a final surge of power, Valerie and Aldric unleashed their most devastating attacks yet, a blinding explosion of light and darkness that engulfed them both in its brilliance. Islinda screamed, shielding her face with her arm as the shock seem to ripple through the very earth.

As the dust settled and the echoes of their clash began to fade slowly, Valerie and Aldric stood amidst the wreckage, battered and bruised yet up on their feet. They were evenly matched, two sides of the same coin, destined to clash for eternity. Or so it seemed because Valerie suddenly bent over, throwing up a mouthful of blood.

Islinda screamed Valerie’s name, horrified at the scene. In the end, Aldric proved he was a force to be reckoned with, a harbinger of chaos and destruction. And "death" was the first thought that came to Islinda’s mind when she saw the chilling smile that graced Aldric’s features. He was going to end his own brother. For in the realm of Fae, only power reigned supremacy. But Islinda would not let that happen.

Before Aldric could launch another attack, Islinda had already ran into the scene, blocking Valerie with her body. "Don’t you dare!" She warned Aldric, a blazing intensity in her eyes.

Aldric stumbled back, reading meaning into her gesture. His lips pulled back in a sneer, "Of course, you would always defend him over me. Sometimes I wonder where your affection is, Islinda."

Islinda clenched her hands into fists, her expression grave. She said, "This is not about where my heart is, Aldric! After you kill Valerie, a crown prince, do you stop to think about the repercussions of your actions or do you fool yourself into thinking you would be let off easily? I thought you were smarter than this."

"Islinda is right." Valerie said easily, straightening up and pulling Islinda to his side.

Aldric bared his teeth at him at the gesture. He could not stand his mate being touched by others, most especially Valerie. Aldric was being possessive and at this rate, the others would figure out he and Islinda’s connection alone from his reaction. Although it would be pretty impossible to imagine the dark Fae prince had a mate.

Islinda stepped away from him, uncomfortable with Valerie’s touch. The summer Fae did not show he was hurt by her action as he continued, "You would not go scott free for touching a hair on my body."

Aldric laughed cruelly, "I didn’t take you for a coward that runs from a fight."

"No, I am not backing down," Valerie declared, her voice firm and resolute as she stepped forward, her features hardening into a mask of determination. "Let’s settle this once and for all. A duel to the death. That way, neither of us will be held accountable for the outcome." He challenged, with unwavering conviction.
