Mated To The Cruel Prince -
Chapter 469: I Will Kill You
Chapter 469: I Will Kill You
"He touched you?" Aldric sniffed the air, his eyes flashing red as she approached him. Islinda intentionally ignored his tantrum because she had nothing to say to him, but that only seemed to provoke him further.
"Does Aldre think having the protection of the royal family means I’m not going to keep up my promise of killing him if he dares to—"
"Alright, you hot-tempered bullhead, hold it right there." Islinda stepped in his way when he tried to stride past her.
"Andre did not touch me."
He scrunched his nose and sniffed her, his eyes flashing as he accused her, "You lie!"
"Well, unfortunately for you and fortunately for me, Andre did not touch me. I was the one who hugged him." She added, "And for the love of the gods, could you stop sniffing me out like some animal? It’s quite creepy."
Aldric looked at her with shock in his eyes, "You want to date Andre too?" However, realization dawned on him and he swallowed numbly, "Don’t tell me you started a harem like my father, and I have been manipulated into joining."
"Ugh! For the love of the gods," Islinda groaned, throwing her hands upwards, "Could you men have a bit of trust in me? Just because I have a complicated relationship with Valerie doesn’t mean I am going to fall in love with any Fae that comes my way. I am not some whore."
"Define a whore exactly, does it involve kissing me and my alter ego and then playing Valerie at the same time?" Aldric asked with a menacing grin.
Islinda gave him a death glare for a few minutes before shaking her head with a grim expression. She declared, "I am done with you."
Then she strode ahead while Aldric laughed after her. Although he did feel guilty afterward, there was no way in hell he was apologizing to her. He had spoken the truth.
"That is not even the right way!" Aldric shouted after her, not that she bothered to listen. She was furious at him.
By a stroke of luck, Islinda was able to find the right way while Aldric lingered behind her. Perhaps it was the deadly look on her face, but the Fae guards at the entrance did not even ask any questions and quickly let her out of the hell hole of a palace. Islinda knew deep down that unless she had no choice, she was never coming back to this place.
There was a carriage parked outside, probably for them, but Islinda was in no mood to ride with Aldric. No, she couldn’t even stand sharing the same air with him, not to mention seeing his ridiculously annoying handsome face. If only he was ugly, then getting rid of her attraction for him would have been easier.
However, just because he had a handsome face doesn’t mean he was excused for bad behavior — even if he was kind of the villain. By the gods, of all the Fae she had to like, it had to be a morally gray one. Good work, Islinda, she mentally berated herself over and over. No wonder her stepmother thought she was dumb.
"Where are you going?" Aldric was the one asking now when she kept on walking ahead. News must have reached the people that the dark Fae prince was out of prison because there was not a soul in sight. Yes, the Faeries of Astaria were dramatic.
Islinda ignored him, and that did get on his nerves. He had been entertaining her "little tantrum," thinking she would get over it soon, but it was time to go home, and she certainly wouldn’t trek the way back home.
Heck, she didn’t even know the direction home. A few miles, and she would be lost like a child on her first day out. Nor were his people kind to humans. If another Fae were to assume she was an unclaimed human, they would capture her and do whatever they wanted with her. Aldric squeezed his eyes shut, not wanting to imagine it. He would give anyone who laid a hand on her a brutal death.
So with an annoyed huff, he went after her, muttering under his breath. This was why he hated humans. They were so emotional, unpredictable, and annoying as bugs.
"You know that you can’t keep this up forever?!" Aldric tried once more, hoping to change her mind.
But Islinda huffed under her breath. He hadn’t seen anything yet. Sure, her protest was a little childish, but who said she had to make things easy for him? He called her a whore. A fucking whore! How dare he?! As if he was any better! He could sleep with anybody with no strings attached, and then when it came to her, just one kiss and he called her a whore. Islinda was not forgiving him!
She had no idea where she was going, and all she could see was an empty street with shut stalls. Even the houses had their windows down and doors shut. Islinda had expected the capital to be lively, especially the streets closest to the palace, but it seemed like a graveyard instead. Was there a national holiday or something? It didn’t cross her mind that Aldric was the reason the streets had turned into a ghost town.
"Alright, this is enough!" Aldric decided. "You are coming with me this instant." He started towards her.
Islinda turned around just in time to brandish her small dagger at him. She said, "You are taking me nowhere."
Aldric frowned, "Since when did you start playing with weapons?"
"Since I was almost..." Islinda trailed off upon realizing she almost spilled the secret. Shit! Even when he wasn’t trying hard, the bastard nearly tricked her into telling the truth.
Aldric’s eyebrows lifted above his hairline now, "Well, you were saying?"
"Since I realized bastards like you are the reason humans like me grow white hair fast. This is for my protection..." She swung the dagger towards him experimentally, "And I am not afraid to use it. Especially on you."
"Did Andre give it to you?"
"Yes."
"So you’re now at the gifting stage?"
"What? That is ridiculous. Do you know right now you sound like a jealous lover, Aldric?" She said to him with the dagger still pointed at him.
"Well, let me show you how a jealous lover reacts when another male gifts his female." He threatened.
Before Islinda could protect herself against his threat, his shadow crept up on her without her knowing it and plucked the dagger from her hand. Then it wrapped around her leg and lifted her off her feet, upside down, and began walking her back to the carriage.
"Aldric!" Islinda screamed at the top of her lungs, flapping her arms as if trying to anchor herself to something, but her hands only went through the shadows.
"Yes, darling?"
"I will kill you!"
"Sure, darling."
He did not believe her.
This was the most humiliating day of her life.
