Chapter 443: Aldric Is On His Own

The ride back to Aldric’s place was filled with an awkward silence. It wasn’t a unnerving type of silence, just one that felt out of place. Aldric knew that Maxi typically enjoyed these rides and would use them as an opportunity to engage in naughty behavior in the carriage. Since leaving his mother’s place, they had engaged in small talk and jokes, but it all felt forced, as if they were just avoiding the inevitable. Issac was eagerly waiting for Maxi to ask about Anya’s assault on him.

He should have expected that his family wouldn’t give him privacy, especially when they knew the conversation was important. They had eavesdropped on his conversation, and he suspected it was Kayla’s idea, with the others following suit. It had taken a lot of pleading to stop his mother from storming over to Anya’s place and confronting her about the assault.

Issac contemplated his relationship with Anya over the years. He was doing her one last favor, knowing that the Faeries of Astaria would not be lenient once they found out what she had done. Issac’s family was somewhat famous in the city, thanks to his father’s legacy, and Anya had possibly ruined her chances of finding a life partner. R*pe was despised in the Fae realm. The idea of having one’s will forcibly taken away was greatly frowned upon considering their society revolved around negotiations and deal brokering.

"Are you not going to ask?" Issac finally decided to break the strange silence. He preferred Maxi’s bubbly personality over her current quietness. It felt unusual and out of character.

"Ask about what?" Maxi responded innocently.

Issac knew she was pretending to be oblivious to what he was talking about, but he persisted. "You know, about the assault?"

"What do you want me to say, Issac?"

"I don’t know," Issac shrugged, "You know anything except this silence and also to get this over with."

Maxi turned to him, her expression suddenly chilling, causing him to swallow nervously. With a cruel curl of her lips, she replied, "Trust me, I don’t need to talk because I’m thinking of a million ways to make Anya wish she was dead instead of alive. So forgive me if I’m not into speaking, I prefer taking action."

Issac stared at Maxi wide-eyed. Although her words were terrifying, they also excited him. He didn’t expect to enjoy having a woman fight for him, though he didn’t wish for Anya to be killed or for Maxi to get into trouble.

A smile appeared on Issac’s face as he gently moved Maxi’s hand out of the way, causing her concentration to falter. He laid his head on her lap, looking up at her with adoration in his eyes.

"Have I ever told you that your violent side strangely turns me on?" he said playfully.

Maxi’s eyes softened and a smirk formed on her lips. This was a conversation worth her attention.

"Careful, Issac, or Oma will blame me for corrupting her son," she teased him.

Issac flirted back, "I think my soul has already been tainted. You’ve dug your claws deep, Maxi."

Maxi leaned in, "What if I clawed deeper right now."Her eyes traveled suggestively to his crotch.

Issac became serious. "No, Maxi. That’s not happening again."

"But you enjoy my darkness," she persisted.

"Don’t worry, we’ll have plenty of time to appreciate your darkness at home, just not here," Issac stood his ground.

Maxi whined, "But you’re going to love it, my corrupted Fae."

Issac paused, contemplating her words. "Is that my new nickname?"

She grinned mischievously, "You’re not so innocent anymore, are you?"

"Whatever you say," Issac huffed, pretending to be annoyed, though inwardly he was pleased.

"So..." Maxi leaned in even closer, her voice sultry, "shall we?"

"No," Issac firmly stated.

"Please," Maxi pleaded, adding the word ’please’ as a rare gesture.

"No," Issac repeated.

"I even used the word ’please,’ something I don’t typically do," she whined.

"No," Issac remained steadfast.

"Issac...." Maxi’s voice suddenly turned sultry, sending shivers down Issac’s spine. He knew she had upped her game, and anticipation filled him. He shouldn’t encourage this, but he couldn’t resist.

"Please..." Maxi purred in his ear, kissing the tip of his pointed ear. He shuddered, feeling a bulge forming in his pants, causing his face to turn red. Why couldn’t he resist her?

Breathlessly, he said, "You’re not playing fair, Maxi."

"I’m anything but fair. And remember, all’s fair in love and war," Maxi said smugly, now kissing his neck delicately. She loved the fact that he was laying down, seemingly at her mercy. She had the upper hand, quite literally.

"So, yes or no?" she asked seductively.

"No," Issac still had the power to resist.

Maxi hummed and continued kissing his neck, using her hand to trace the bulge.

"By the gods!" Issac jerked up, almost colliding his head with Maxi’s. This time when he rose, it was to guide the horses away from the main road, taking a detour through a forest route.

Once they stopped, Issac pounced on Maxi. She may have started this, but he would be the one to finish it. Outside, guttural moans and grunts could be heard, and if anyone happened to pass by, they would witness the carriage bouncing violently as Maxi and Issac indulged in their passion.

Due to their "distraction," they arrived at the castle much later than expected. Maxi sensed that Aldric should have been back by now, so the quietness of the castle concerned her.

"Something isn’t right here," she pointed out.

Suddenly, someone appeared, and Maxi instinctively prepared to attack, with Issac ready to cover her, until they recognized the familiar face.

"You’re finally back," Aurelia greeted them. She was finally back on her feet.

"What’s going on? Where’s Prince Aldric?" Maxi asked anxiously.

"I’m afraid I have bad news," Aurelia began, recounting the information they had received from their acquaintances in the palace.

"Where do you think you’re going?!" Issac grabbed Maxi’s arm as she tried to leave.

"I have to go to the palace!" she exclaimed. "That idiot Aldric may need my help."

"And how exactly will you help? In what form?" Issac protested, concerned for her safety. "You’ll only get into trouble, and I won’t risk losing you."

His eyes softened as he added, "I’m afraid Aldric is on his own this time."
