Chapter 441: Anya Found Out About Maxi
Chapter 441: Anya Found Out About Maxi
At first, nobody heard the low growl that rumbled from Maxi’s throat like a feral creature until she bared her teeth at Anya, causing her to jump in surprise.
"Don’t you ever touch him!" Maxi snarled, unable to contain the possessive fury that arose within her. Isaac belonged to her and no one was allowed to touch what was hers.
The dangerous, rabid look in Maxi’s eyes and her aggressive behavior caught Anya off guard. She didn’t dare respond with a sharp retort as expected. Instead, she swallowed nervously and took a step back from Isaac.
"Good." Maxi was pleased with Anya’s reaction, her voice still a low growl. "Now you can talk."
Kayla and Oma exchanged confused glances, but soon understanding dawned on Oma, bringing along its concerns. Isaac and Maxi were mates, and their bond caused a primal, feral possessiveness. In time, they would learn to control it. Unfortunately, Maxi was still new to this, and Anya had threatened her place in Isaac’s life. This situation was destined to end poorly.
"I’m afraid I need some space to talk to Isaac," Anya managed to say through gritted teeth.
"You won’t be doing that," Maxi retorted.
Anya narrowed her gaze at Maxi. "You have no control over Isaac. He is his own person and makes his own decisions. Don’t tell me you’re the controlling type -"
"Anya!" Oma interrupted Anya’s escalating argument, keeping an eye on Maxi, who had become still like a volcano about to erupt.
Anya turned to Oma with frustration, throwing her hands in the air. "Are you seriously condoning this, Oma? You, of all people?! This Fae..." she pointed at Maxi, "is controlling your son as if he’s some puppet who can’t make his own decisions. I thought you of all people would understand!"
As all of this unfolded, Isaac kept a watchful eye on Maxi. He didn’t want to leave with Anya, but he was also curious about what she wanted to tell him privately. At the same time, he didn’t want to hurt Maxi.
So when he sensed Maxi’s control snap and his mate looked like she was about to bite off Anya’s finger that she was pointing in her face, Issac stepped in. All it took him was just a step and he took Maxi’s face in his palms then closed his lips over hers.
Maxi let out a startled gasp, the kiss taking her by surpise and clearing the red haze that blinded her vision, the anger dissipating from her body. She had been so close to losing her and this time no one would have stopped her from ending Anya for good.
But now Issac was kissing her and nothing was more important than that, even killing Anya. Issac shoved his tongue into her mouth and she moaned. By the gods, this felt so good. About killing Anya. Wait a minute, what was she planning about Anya again? Her anger was doused out completely and her brain was fried so she couldn’t think straight. All she wanted to feel was Issac. His lips on her. His hard body on hers. His hand in her hair. All she wanted was Issac.
And Issac sure did not fail her expectation. He kissed her over and over and over until darkness dotted across her vision from the lack of air in her lungs. Only then did they break apart from the kiss and Maxi felt peace like no other as she stared into his glittering eyes until she remembered Anya. That peace shattered.
She was just about to turn when Issac grabbed her chin and focused her attention on him. He leaned in and took her lips in a kiss that was so soft, so gentle, so loving that Maxi literally melted into him. At that moment she felt like Islinda’s pampered Wrry cat, Prince Wayne. Maxi was contented with the affection Issac showered on her and relished every moment.
After licking her lips, Isaac whispered into Maxi’s ear, "It won’t take long, Maxi, just a quick conversation."
Maxi’s eyes flew open as she realized Isaac’s intentions. He was trying to bribe her, similar to how Aldric’s servants coaxed her horse form into the stable after a day in the open. However, this form of bribery wasn’t so bad. Yet, the topic of discussion still centered around Anya. That vixen!
"Do you trust me?" Isaac whispered, his breath gently caressing her pointed ears, causing her throat to tighten. Alright, she would give in to Isaac. Her shy Fae was no longer just shy. It was time to change his nickname.
"Fine," she grumbled reluctantly, rubbing her face against his and inhaling his calming scent. Maxi never thought she would be the jealous type, but ever since she met Isaac, so much had changed within her.
"Go then," she nudged him away.
While Kayla looked on in awe and Oma blushed slightly in embarrassment, watching her son shamelessly deep kiss a female before her eyes was slightly uncomfortable especially with someone as reserved as her, the same couldn’t be said for Anya.
Anya looked disgusted, even traumatized. Even when Isaac had fooled around with other females, he hadn’t kissed them with such passion and adoration. Not even with her. Their night together had been rushed, his actions sloppy from the drug, and he couldn’t even remember her name. If they hadn’t woken up next to each other that morning, Anya was certain he wouldn’t have remembered anything about their encounter.
This filled Anya with anger and jealousy. She should be the one he looked at with enraptured eyes, not Maxi, whom Anya believed had stolen what rightfully belonged to her. Fine, once she told Isaac the truth about her, he would surely let her go.
Upon Isaac’s approach, Anya confidently said, "Let’s go." However, the fear Maxi had instilled in her earlier prevented Anya from touching Isaac again. Instead, she followed him upstairs, smug in the knowledge that they would be alone in his room.
"No, not there," Isaac suddenly said.
"What?" Anya was startled.
"Outside, Anya. We’ll talk outside." Isaac didn’t feel comfortable taking her to his room where he had been with Maxi. It felt sacred now, and he didn’t want Anya’s presence to taint it.
"But..." Anya began to argue, but Isaac had already moved on, leaving her behind. She glanced back at Maxi, with a venomous look in her eyes. Maxi smirked, and Anya clenched her fists. Fine, Maxi wouldn’t be laughing for long.
Anya stormed after Isaac, and once they were outside, she confronted him.
"Do you realize what a huge mistake you’re making here, Isaac? Do you even know what I found out about Maxi?"
Isaac’s heart skipped a beat. No, it couldn’t be. Anya couldn’t possibly know that Maxi was a dark Fae.
