Mated To The Cruel Prince
Chapter 434: Consequences Of His Actions

Chapter 434: Consequences Of His Actions

Queen Maeve’s anguish reverberated throughout the room, causing her maidservant to jump at every loud noise. The Queen’s quarters were in disarray, with broken items scattered about from her violent display of anger.

The upholstery was torn in two, and furniture lay overturned. Smoke lingered from a corner of the room, a result of the fire she had ignited in her tantrum, which had to be extinguished. This was not the first time the maidservants had seen Queen Maeve react violently, but this was the first time she seemed truly enraged.

Queen Maeve’s chest heaved as she struggled to catch her breath. Her pupils were dilated and wild, like those of a feral animal. Her eyes gleamed with fury and violence, her claws exposed, while her blood coursed with the desire to end the life of a certain Fae named Aldric.

How dare he?!

How dare he humiliate her in front of her court?!

It wasn’t enough that her husband, King Oberon, had disregarded her authority by abruptly ending the matchmaking party she had put so much effort into. Now, his wretched son dared to make a fool of her in front of everyone.

It was the feeling of helplessness that fueled her rage. She had been unable to defend herself when his shadows descended, cutting her off from reality. Before she could regain control of herself, Valerie had already led her out of the room.

Now, the Faeries of Astaria would say that she had fled with her tail between her legs, like a coward. But she was no coward but queen, the ruler of this palace, and this kingdom! She was supposed to be feared, second only to her husband the king, and yet a mere prince was able to threaten her!

Queen Maeve was boiling with anger, feeling as though she could explode. The empty fireplace at the corner erupted in flames as she exhaled, evidence of her power. Her maidservant shrieked and recoiled from the intense heat. Eventually, the flames subsided, leaving the wood burning steadily.

But it still wasn’t enough. Queen Maeve was consumed by a bloodthirsty rage. She wanted to release the overwhelming heat inside of her and reduce this wretched palace to ashes. However, what kind of queen would that make her? Innocent lives would be lost, while those she truly wished dead would remain unharmed. Her reputation would be ruined, and her co-wife Nirvana would surely seize the opportunity to take her place.

She knew that Nirvana had been lurking like a shark, waiting for a chance to strike and destroy her. Queen Maeve would not give her that chance. So, as furious as she was, she had to contain it. Destroying objects in her room was the only way to vent her frustration. She had become quite skilled at holding her emotions in check over the centuries.

Suddenly, the door swung open and a royal guard entered the room, hesitating at the sight of the destruction. He quickly averted his gaze, pretending not to have witnessed anything. He knelt before her.

"Your Majesty, Fae Queen Maeve."

Finally, Queen Maeve turned, her hands clenched at her sides, her eyes still burning with anger. However, her expression softened at the sight of the guard, only to harden once more when she noticed his empty hands.

"Where is she?" Her voice was low and threatening.

The guard swallowed nervously, then lifted his face, flinching at the look in her eyes. The Queen’s face was a twisted mask of fury, ready to explode.

He opened his mouth to speak, but his throat felt constricted. He stumbled over his words, stammering, "Y-your Majesty, I—I... I can’t find the girl!"

Queen Maeve froze. Dead silence filled the room. The maidservant held her breath, petrified by the imminent explosion. She feared for the guard’s life at that moment.

Queen Maeve strode towards him, each step echoing impending doom. She stopped in front of him and waited, the silence unbearable. Then, she grabbed the soldier’s chin, forcing his face upwards to meet her gaze. She spoke in a low, menacing voice, "What do you mean you can’t find the girl?"

"Y—your Majesty, I entered her room and she wasn’t there. I even asked the guards outside her door, and they said she hadn’t returned... aaah!"

The guard screamed in pain as his flesh began to burn, her hand searing it. But to Queen Maeve, his screams were like music, and she cackled as his flesh sizzled. The guard could only endure the pain, knowing he couldn’t fight against royalty.

Queen Maeve wore a cold, cruel expression as she said, "Do you think I am interested in your excuses?"

The guard’s screams filled the air, although the Queen paid no attention to his suffering. Her maidservant stood frozen with fear. She knew Queen Maeve had a capacity for cruelty, but witnessing it firsthand was another matter entirely.

Finally, the Queen released her hold on the guard, who writhed on the floor in agony. With a snap of her fingers, she commanded, "Get up!"

The guard, in his condition, hastily rose to his feet, his body spasming from the pain. Almost half of his face was burned, and Queen Maeve stared at her handiwork with a twisted satisfaction.

Queen Maeve lifted her head high and ordered, "I don’t care how you do it, but find the girl. Now leave my sight."

"Yes, my Queen." The guard bowed, then quickly exited the room. He would have to find a healer to tend to his injuries and then locate the human by any means necessary.

Queen Maeve felt considerably better, as if she had released some of her pent-up anger on the unfortunate guard. But she knew she would feel even more satisfied once she had the human in her grasp.

Aldric thought he could trample upon her like this and escape unscathed. No, she would teach him a lesson through the human. Queen Maeve planned to torture Islinda before finally ending her life slowly. Then, she would dismember her and send the pieces to Aldric in boxes once he was free.

She cared naught for her husband’s desire to protect Islinda. His son should have known better than to force her hand! This was the consequences of his actions.
