Mated To The Cruel Prince -
Chapter 359: Males And Their Ego
Chapter 359: Males And Their Ego
"You silly Fae, how did you survive your previous relationships?"
Maxi was both shocked and amused at the same time that she gave him a long look, "You seriously didn’t think your mother wouldn’t want to know details about how we met? I mean, that’s my future mother-in-law we’re talking about here, and trust me when I say that this is an examination to check if I’m worthy of her son or not."
"Oh, is that so?" Issac scratched the back of his head with an awkward smile, this was obviously out of his league. He then explained to Maxi, "I never had a stable relationship, it was just flings and none of the females were worthy enough to be taken home to my mother."
"Hmmm," Maxi locked her fingers together and placed her chin on it, staring at him smugly, "So does that mean that I’m worthy enough to be taken to your mother?"
Issac was caught unaware by the question and knew this was a test by the dark Fae horse shifter. He broke away from the gaze, his heart racing faster as he answered nervously, unable to lie, "You do know that I have no choice but to present you to my mother, otherwise, this is just a —"
He was cut off when Maxi pressed a finger against his lips and he stopped talking else he ruined the whole thing. Maxi looked at him and said, "Don’t jinx our luck." Her expression softened, "At least you didn’t say I’m a dark Fae I would have kicked you out of this carriage by now. There’s only so much I can take from a racist and I don’t pamper a male who doesn’t know what he wants."
Oh, is that the case?
Issac slowly let out the breath that he had been holding onto. He had thought that Maxi would be mad that he wasn’t taking her to his mother because of his dying love for her. Sure, he liked Maxi, but he wasn’t so sure they had gotten to the loving stage.
She was more understanding than he thought and his affection for her grew. Issac was not exactly a fan of clingy females and Maxi was exactly everything he wanted in a mate — except she was dark Fae. Although she being one of the dark Faeries didn’t bother him so much as the first time, having dropped his prejudiced view and realized some myths about her kind were exaggerated.
Sure, they had the darkness inside that corrupted their soul, Issac had already gotten a preview of how vicious Maxi could be with Rosalind’s case, but it didn’t mean she went about recklessly taking lives — as what they claimed their kind does. Killing was their nature. Maxi did not let that control her.
However, just because he knew what Maxi was capable of, doesn’t mean others had the same knowledge. Dark Fae were still feared and hunted down like animals. It was a miracle Maxi’s cover hadn’t been blown and she was alive to date. In one word, anything long-term for both of them was a bit overstretched and difficult. Issac was risking not only his life but reputation by dating her. Both of them cannot predict what will happen in the future and their relationship might be over before then. But for now, Issac was not letting go.
Roused from his thinking by the feel of her finger on his lips, Issac opened his mouth and took her finger inside. He then licked, sucked, and grazed her finger with his teeth all the while holding her gaze which was so erotic wetness pooled between her legs. Maxi’s eyes darkened and she snatched her finger at once.
With her heart racing, she warned him, "Don’t start what you cannot finish, Issac, else the public might really kick us off the road," Her eyes glinted with the promise, her lips curling up, "And to think you had it in you. My lessons seemed to be working and you’re a fast learner, my naughty Fae." Maxi lifted her hand and smoothed his hair.
"I am not your student, female," Issac bristled at the notion that she trained him in the matters of.... a—hem! You know what he’s talking about. He was already doing well before she arrived. Maxi was merely overly responsive and a bit competitive in bed. Otherwise, he had the power and the knowledge; she could not steal his glory.
If only they weren’t on the road he would teach her a lesson or two till she’s pleading for mercy, of which he will not grant. She has grown so arrogant he wanted to clip her pride a little bit. He was not as tamed as he looks. Issac did not realize Maxi was beginning to occupy his mind like an obsession.
"Fine, whatever you say," Maxi stroked his ego, but inwardly, she did not concede one bit. The dark Fae horse shifter already knew where to touch and she would turn him to putty in her hands. Males and their ego, she will let him enjoy it this time.
"You should let me come up with a story of how we first met, I’m a good storyteller," Maxi said, still running her hand through his hair, returning the favor in the form of a head rub from earlier. Also, she could easily convince him this way — without him realizing.
Issac sighed, relishing the sensation with his eyes closed, "I still don’t think my mother will hassle you with such unnecessary questions. She just wants to see you and apologize for my rude behavior and then we’d be out of their hair."
"Mmhmmm," Maxi nodded her head, but she didn’t wholeheartedly believe any of his words. Issac was really dumb and ignorant if he thought he’d introduce her to his mother as his fiancée and then, wham-bam! They’re out of there! It was Impossible, Maxi knew that and made no effort to correct him.
If anything, she continued with a gleam in her eyes, "So in one word, I should spin the story of our first meeting?"
Issac opened half of his closed eyes, a moan ripping from his lips when Maxi’s hand dug into a nice spot on his scalp, "Do whatever you want. I’m not much of a storyteller anyway.... Yes there, that feels so good, Maxi." He got carried away with the pleasure.
