Mated To The Cruel Prince -
Chapter 327: A Tale To Be Told
Chapter 327: A Tale To Be Told
"Cover me." Those were the words Islinda told Rosalind after she handed the small bottle containing the drug to her.
Rosalind subtly nodded and walked ahead of her yet lingered, pretending to be supervising the food when she was tactically hiding Islinda from view with her bigger body.
The kitchen staff had decreased in numbers since they were practically done cooking the most difficult foods and it was mostly side dishes now.
"Wow, all of this for Prince Aldric!" Islinda exclaimed, walking and trailing her hand along the table, her eyes full of awe when in reality she was nervous as hell.
She stopped, her heart pounding against her ribcage as she scanned the Fae who were doing their own thing. A few others had scattered off to gossip again while others were busy making the food.
Islinda lifted the lid used to cover the Akara, her eyes connecting with Rosalind who stood taller at that moment, shielding her from others.
"I can’t believe that I made this," Islinda was still speaking when she produced the small bottle and poured the colorless liquid on the Akara balls knowing this was a dish Aldric would not resist. He had liked it in the human realm and she had specifically made it for him. There was no getting out of it.
Once she had poured the substance, Islinda hid the bottle in her palm and closed the lid, speaking louder than usual for show, "I can’t wait for the prince to have this. He would be ecstatic." To others, they would assume she was ecstatic after preparing a meal for her lover and would not suspect a thing.
She tamped down the nervousness and did not give anything away. There was no way anyone saw her, she assured herself. She had even used the lid to block her action for added protection. Everything was going to go well, Islinda rubbed her clammy hands down her pants after hiding the bottle of course.
Her eyes met with Rosalind and she affirmed she had drugged the food. As long as no one stole one of the Akara balls before it was served to the prince and dropped unconscious, there should be no problem.
Islinda did not leave immediately else her movements seemed suspicious to any Fae with keen eyes. Aside from Rosalind, no one was on her side and would sell her out.
"I should go prepare for dinner," Islinda announced after the time was right, "I had a good time with you all today and I pray this won’t be the last," She thanked them.
"We enjoyed your company too, young miss." They gushed over her with praises.
"I should escort you back to your room and see that you’re prepared timely for dinner. You’ve wasted enough of it already." Rosalind told her to the hearing of everyone.
"Sure, that would be nice." Islinda accepted her help and the both of them walked out of the kitchen with the Faeries waving after them.
"Don’t you think it would have been a nice idea to stay back and see if anyone caught me?" Islinda spoke in a hushed tone since they walked into the hallway.
"Trust me, nobody saw you. So you should stop being nervous before Aldric smells that on you." Rosalind warned her.
"Fine." Islinda breathed deeply, ending the conversation between them since it made her more nervous. Also, the walls had ears.
In a twinkle of an eye everything had become so serious and Islinda finally understood one mistake would send everything crumbling down.
"Young miss," There were already two Fae in her room waiting for her arrival, slightly startling her and Rosalind.
Islinda cast a nervous look at Rosalind and before she took a step forward, placed the bottle in Rosalind’s palm and the Fae closed her hand around it without drawing attention to the careful exchange.
"In that case, I’ll leave Miss Islinda." Rosalind bowed her head and retreated without even sparing a look over her shoulder.
Once Rosalind left, Islinda turned to face the Faeries and their stoic faces left her wondering what they were thinking. In one word, her room was as quiet as a graveyard.
Islinda threw her hands in the air with a sigh, "Well, here we are. Just the three of us and this is me. You can do whatever you want with me. I give you permission." She rambled.
Both Fae exchanged strange looks, wondering what was wrong with the human. She wasn’t usually like this.
"You know what? Just dress me up!" Islinda snapped, drawing their attention.
And they did just that.
Although the fancy dress was not tight enough to have the bones of the corset digging into her sides, Islinda could not breathe. This plan had to work else she was doomed. Really doomed. Islinda had not realized the repercussions until now.
"Fine, it’s just dinner. You’ve had plenty of dinners with him. What’s the worst that can happen? Just be natural. You can do this." Islinda psyched herself, drawing deep, long to calm the nerves.
Islinda straightened up with her head held high, "Now, we leave." She announced to the two Fae who still couldn’t understand what was wrong with the young miss tonight.
More Fae’s were outside her door to inform her that it was time and walked her to the dinner hall. Islinda had an expressionless look the entire time, the nerves now a faint buzz in her belly. All she had to do was act for a few hours and everything would be over. Rosalind would help her return to the human realm and with time, she would forget all about this place – And Eli. And Aldric.
She would forget Eli and Aldric. The dark Fae prince would be a story tale she would hopefully tell her children – not her husband – one day. Islinda already had her mind prepared and pushed the double doors open, stepping in with style.
However, both the nerves and confidence failed Islinda as soon as she set her eyes on Eli and their guest...?
