Mated To The Cruel Prince -
Chapter 325: Drug All Of Them
Chapter 325: Drug All Of Them
It was ridiculous how sex could make her so giddy as if she were on top of the world and nothing could touch her, and at the same time, she was so embarrassed she wanted to hide away for the rest of her life.
Islinda was currently in the kitchen and it was as awkward as hell. The Fae who had walked in on them in the library was there too and she was tempted to ask Aurelia to send her away because she was embarrassed to death. However, Islinda knew doing so would only draw attention and in no time, the news would spread. The servants in this castle were not exactly good at keeping their mouths shut.
So Islinda was left with no other choice but to pretend nothing was wrong. She waved her hand across the table, "Is this all?"
Aurelia stepped closer, "It was hard to procure the ingredients but I followed the list. You can check them to make sure none is missing."
Islinda nodded her head, her eyes roving across the ingredients laid out on the table before stepping closer and checking them one by one.
Apart from Aurelia, there were a handful of Fae including Rosalind who was a constant reminder of what was about to go down tonight. The kitchen was so spacious it did not feel one bit congested and Islinda was a bit proud the Faeries were interested in learning her recipe.
"I believe everything is complete. However, the first step is soaking the black-eyed peas for about thirty minutes or till the skin swells. How do I –"
"Me! Me!"
A Fae stepped out with her hand raised high and looking so excited Islinda had to point at her, intrigued, "You can do it?"
"Even faster," The Fae declared, "Give me fifteen minutes at the latest,"
Islinda snorted, ready to tell the Fae that it was impossible to get the task accomplished in that amount of time only for her jaw to drop to the ground the next minute.
"By the gods...." Islinda stared at the scene in awe, finally understanding why Aldric prevented her from working in the kitchen. It was for her own safety.
The Fae who Islinda now confirmed to be a winter Faerie simply poured a bowl of water into the peas.
"Chaer," She called out to another Fae, "Help me out here,"
"Sure."
The winter Fae then frost the content while the Autumn Fae named Chaer levitated the frozen load in the air. Islinda watched with round eyes as the winter Fae began to melt away the ingredients so the outermost was still frozen while the peas were free and oscillated with the help of the water within the frozen covering. Both Faerie worked in perfect symphony as if they had somehow practiced this move beforehand.
"What in the Fae...." Islinda could not believe it. Her own method had been to soak the peas in water until the skin came off. But this was faster – and the Fae were big show-offs. The kitchen was supposed to be the place where she showed off her cooking skills but reality just slapped her harshly on the face. Islinda had never felt this useless.
"Is there anything else that needs to be prepared? We should work on it now," Aurelia inquired of the flustered Islinda who now felt a bit out of place.
"Urm.. Yes," It took a lot of effort for Islinda to get herself together and continue from where she had stopped. The Faeries just gave her a reality check and she began to doubt Eli’s feelings for her. How could he ignore all these amazing Faeries with breathtaking abilities and choose her, a human with no ability other than to get into trouble? It suddenly didn’t make sense to her. Whatever feelings Eli had for her couldn’t be real.
She directed the other Faeries on what to do and they went about their duties. The beans were successfully peeled off with their magic of course. The winter and autumn Fae simply used the water molecules to split the beans from its skin. Islinda was no longer shocked, having opened her mind to their numerous capabilities.
She had them blend the peeled beans
peppers, crayfish, salt, and bouillon powder. Thankfully, the blending process involved the use of grinding machinery and their magic, Islinda would have run crazy from the shock. How could their ability ground beans? It was impossible. However, Islinda knew deep down if she pushed them too far, they might find a way somehow. No, she has had enough shock already.
"It’s very important to be mindful of the texture of the Akara batter. Try not to blend too smoothly, otherwise, the Akara will not form enough tiny air pockets which will result in dense Akara," Islinda instructed them as they used their magic to beat the batter till it became airy and fluffy.
Following her instructions, Rosalind heated oil in a heavy-bottomed pot over medium-high heat, their eyes connecting knowingly as she scooped the mixture by spoonfuls into the pan. It was not time yet. The food would be drugged when the food was about to be served for dinner, she signaled Rosalind and she subtly nodded.
The balls were fried till golden brown and the result was fluffy fritters perfect for pairing with bread, dipping in hot sauce, served with salad, or eaten as it is.
"Here," Islinda gave them a demonstration as she took one of the Akara balls and placed it between a small loaf of bread, and ate it like a sandwich.
"Mmm," Islinda moaned in between a bite, "It tastes as good as I remember. You should have a bite." she urged the Faeries who watched her with anticipation.
The Faeries did not obey at first, casting anxious looks at Aurelia as if they weren’t used to eating food exclusively cooked for the prince.
"Didn’t you hear the young miss speak?" She commanded and they didn’t waste any minute digging into the food, following Islinda’s step and complimenting how good it tasted.
Although Islinda smiled and responded to their flattery, she couldn’t help but wonder how nice it would have been to drug all of them and get away from this prison. Unfortunately, Eli needed his staff to serve him.
