Chapter 319: Made Romantic Words Sound So Scary
Chapter 319: Made Romantic Words Sound So Scary
"I’m not going to have sex with you!" Islinda blurted out, crossing her arms against her chest as she gave him an intense accusatory look.
At first, Eli was taken aback by her statement before his lips curled, a gleam in his eyes as he stared straight at her, "Naughty princess, is that all you have been thinking since my arrival?"
"W-what?" Islinda nearly choked on her saliva seeing how the table was suddenly turned, an embarrassing flush rising to her cheeks.
"N–no way! Listen, no t–that is n–not..." Islinda spluttered, her eyes wide.
"You don’t need to pretend, Princess, I know that you are crazy about me. It’s nothing to be ashamed of. After all, I love me too." Eli was smug, running his hand through his hair, and blew a kiss at her.
By the gods, Islinda was left dumbfounded at his narcissistic display. What’s with the sudden turn of events? She was the innocent one here yet that cunny Fae made it seem like he was the victim of her wicked ways. However, was she truly innocent considering she had inappropriate thoughts about him?
Noooo, Islinda groaned, realizing she could never outwit a Fae like him. She was about to bang her head against the table when Eli quickly slipped his hand and she hit his palm instead, his hand softening the impact.
She glanced up at him, noticing the way he watched her with such fascination in his eyes. "What?" Islinda pouted, feeling a bit aggrieved. She was not in the mood for his games.
Eli smiled, "Have I told you how easy it is to tease you, Princess? You look so adorable right now. And It makes me want to put you in a bottle so only I could stare at you for the rest of your life."
The Lord bless her soul, Islinda gasped slightly. How could he make such romantic words sound so scary?
Islinda shuddered, shaking her head in the end, "You are one weird Fae. "
"I’d say the same of you, Princess. You are not...." He trailed off, thinking of the word to use, "easy to comprehend. Quite unpredictable. It’s hard to read your mind." Eli told her, all the while holding her gaze.
The more Islinda stared into his eyes, the further she was sucked in like an endless abyss, absorbed and lost in the sight of his mesmerizing blue orbs. He was so beautiful she wanted to protect and keep him away from the world and its cruelty. Which was a joke because Eli did not need any protection from her and it was the other way round.
"Which brings me to the question," Eli said, and like a quick dose of water sprayed on her, it roused Islinda to reality, "Why are you here when you should be resting, princess? Usually, it’s either you couldn’t hold back your curiosity or...." His predatory eyes darkened a shade, "You are plotting my demise."
Islinda’s mouth fell open from shock and her heart skipped a beat as she slightly panicked, thinking that Eli had somehow gotten hold of her plan. Had Rosalind double-crossed her by chance? No, the Fae was intent on kicking her out of here and already got her hands on the drugs. Not to mention, she was accomplished and Aldric was not exactly known for forgiving.
She willed her pounding heart to be steady, reminding herself that she was dealing with a crafty Fae right now. For all Islinda knew this might be a test. So she pushed the fear away and picked the courage to say, "Tell me, which of the personalities am I speaking with right now? Eli calls me ’princess’ but the suspicion in those eyes belongs to Aldric. Did I do something wrong?"
Silence ensued for a moment as no response came from Eli and Islinda’s stomach churned, a feeling of dread washing over her. If Aldric was back so soon, then she was truly fucked.
Suddenly, Eli released his signature affectionate smile and Islinda let out the breath that she had been holding in. That was so close. No, she nearly died there.
"Calm down, princess," He chuckled at her dramatic reaction, "I was only concerned. You shouldn’t be in here, but in bed resting. So tell me, princess, what is bothering you?" He added quickly as soon as she opened her mouth, "And don’t say it’s nothing. I have become so familiar with your lies, that I think I might have developed an ability to tell them apart."
Islinda swallowed at his words, that can’t be good at all. However, she covered up her nervousness and told him, "I’m curious about the dark Fae."
"Huh?" Eli was mildly surprised, "You want to know about the dark Fae."
Islinda nodded, "To be precise, how did dark Fae come about and why are they so loathed? I just can’t understand it. Back in the human realm, we were taught to believe all Faerie were evil and the winter Fae were the most vile of all courts. However, I come over here and it turns out that there is a greater evil and everything isn’t black and white. Why are other fae referred to as the light Faerie and the dark Fae as monsters? What is the history? Why can’t the other courts give them a chance? Are your kind really as evil as they are called?" She peppered him with questions.
Eli searched Islinda’s face as if finding it hard to believe that she was interested in learning about his kind and seeing from his perspective. His expression was blank so Islinda couldn’t tell what he was thinking.
Suddenly, he reached for her hand and intertwined it with his on the table, his once blank face lightening up as if she had given him a gift.
"Finally, princess, I was beginning to wonder when you were going to ask that and I’ll be so delighted to properly educate you. However, before we dive into that, you need to first know about the Seelie and Unseelie Faeries. The problem of the Faeries began from that discord."
