Mated To The Cruel Prince -
Chapter 316: Prospective Mother
Chapter 316: Prospective Mother
Islinda only sipped the tonic while Aurelia was speaking, and stiffened at the Fae’s disgusting words. She lifted her face, looking at the ignorant Fae with eyes darkened with rage.
"What did you just say?" Islinda asked, her voice as cold as ice.
Aurelia saw her hard gaze and realized that she had fucked up. She swallowed, her mouth opening and closing helplessly.
"Why are you not speaking, Aurelia? Did something happen to your tongue?" Islinda taunted her, icy gaze like a spear to the heart.
"I was only trying to point out that having a baby for Prince Aldric is not the best idea," Aurelia finally spoke up, trying to explain herself out of this situation she had brought upon herself.
"I didn’t realize you could speak this nicely or should I remind you that you were eliminating the chances of a damned dark Fae child running around," Islinda said with a saccharine tone that didn’t hide the anger burning inside of her.
Aurelia bowed her head, apologizing immediately, "I’m sorry for my careless words, young miss. It will not happen again."
Islinda stood up and though Aurelia was taller than her, she loomed over the Fae with her intimidating stance.
"Lift your face, Aurelia."
Aurelia did so. Albeit slowly.
"I don’t care about the history between the light Faeries and the dark ones, but next time, be considerate because I might not be so forgiving especially when I’m the damn dark Fae child’s prospective mother."
Right in front of her, Islinda took the tonic, finished what was left of it, and shoved the empty bowl at her,
"Also, I’m the one to decide whether to get pregnant or not, you’re eliminating nothing. I hope we have that part cleared out."
"Yes, Young miss Islinda," Aurelia bowed her head submissively.
"I’ll have the list of ingredients for dinner written down and sent to you. Leave now." Islinda gestured to the door.
"Of course, young miss." Aurelia walked over to the door and held it open. She looked over her shoulder, giving Islinda a long look as if she had something to say, only to step out and close the door behind her.
Islinda ran a hand through her hair, ruffling it out of frustration. She hated asserting her authority on the servants, especially knowing she was no better. She was a prisoner in this place and the only reason they treated her nicely was because Prince Aldric ordered it so. If he changed his mind one day, then she was at the bottom of the hierarchy and would suffer their cruelty.
But then, Aurelia’s words had triggered her. She understood that dark Faeries were the bad guys, but Islinda had been with Aldric, the prince of the dark Fae, and realized there were other sides to him. The pure disgust in Aurelia’s tone was what upset her the most. Aurelia made it seem like having a child for Aldric was an abomination.
Perhaps, it was her maternal instincts kicking in or just her protective nature. How could she look down on a child? She could already imagine the prejudice the child would go through all because he’s a dark Fae – that is if they let him live.
Aldric already told her his father the king let him live because he was a prince and to save his face. His father’s inability to protect his mother made him become a dark Fae. It was on him. And king Oberon made up for his mistake by letting him live. However, would such benevolence be extended to his offspring when his own existence was a hassle?
Everyone deserved to live and stereotyping a whole race was just not right. Not all dark Fae were evil, Maxi was one of them. But the other Fae Courts would not give them a chance to prove themselves. It was so much easier to get rid of the greater evil that way.
Islinda understood Aurelia’s fear, but one’s ignorance was the real enemy. She would not let her talk down her unexisting dark Fae baby that way! Curious now to know the history of the dark Faeries, Islinda wrote down the list and handed it to a Fae servant to give to Aurelia before dressing up in a pair of tunic and pants to head to the library. This way, Eli wouldn’t be able to get her out of her pants easily.
Perhaps, there was no book about the dark Faeries or it was high up the shelf and she couldn’t reach it without the help of a Faerie who could magically call to the book she needed because she searched for hours and couldn’t find it. Perhaps, it was banned. It was not uncommon for kingdoms to rid knowledge they deemed dangerous, especially from the public.
With an annoyed huff, Islinda simply picked a book and headed to the alcove. Islinda stopped short when she reached the recessed area, recalling running out of there when Issac and Maxi’s passion blazed and almost scorched her.
She narrowed her gaze at the table thinking hard. By chance, did they do it here? Suddenly, an image of Eli fucking her on the dining table crossed her mind and she couldn’t help but imagine Issac doing the same to Maxi.
"Oh no...." Islinda shuddered. That was gross.
With a grimace, she eased into the clean seat and willed her mind not to conjure nonsense thoughts anymore. She has had enough for today. Her eyes have seen enough. And her poor body has experienced enough.
It was a botanical textbook and though it wasn’t precisely what she wanted, Islinda found some of the information there interesting. That way, she wouldn’t carelessly touch a poisonous or human-eating plant. The Fae realm was indeed dangerous.
Islinda was so absorbed in her reading that she was startled out of her mind when a book suddenly fell off the shelf.
She groaned, rubbing the back of her neck, "Seriously, haven’t you guys had enough?"
Immediately, a head peeked out of the bookshelf with a grin, another Fae standing behind her, "Hello Islinda?"
Of course, it was her favorite couple.
Not again.
