Mated To The Cruel Prince
Chapter 293: Heal Her

Chapter 293: Heal Her

"Yes!" Islinda pumped her fist in the air, celebrating the breathtaking move Eli just flawlessly executed. He indeed caught it and was worthy to be called a high Fae!

"Go Eli!" She cheered him loudly, intending to motivate the dark Fae prince. Her face was flushed from the race and her breath was quick and shallow, but it was all worth it. She had put up a tough fight. However, that was where another problem came in.

Even with the baton in his hand, Eli stood at the spot and didn’t go after the other contender who was already making it to the finish line. The Fae had been the first to receive the baton and had a smooth run without interference from the other Faeries who were yet to receive their batons. But not anymore.

While Eli hesitated, two more others received their batons and took off while he stood at the spot, unmoving. Islinda threw her hands up in exasperation as she closed the distance between them.

"What in the Fae is wrong with you?!" She lashed out at him, "Is this because you don’t want me to have the Wrry cat? Really? You’re unbelievable. You should have told me that from the start and I wouldn’t have had to put in so much effort only to have it thrown in my face!" She didn’t want to believe Eli was doing this on purpose.

However, he ignored her ranting, snarling instead, "Who did that to you? Which of the Faeries?"

"Oh." Islinda finally understood the reason for his reluctance. He must have seen her horrible appearance and was concerned about her. But this was seriously not the time to act sweet and fiercely protective, not when the Wrry Cat was on the line and even the other contenders were close to the finishing line.

Moreover, why would she give him a name so he could go after the Faerie when it was obvious one of the rules of the game was that whatever happened in the race stayed in the race? In other words, they can’t fight because of this.

"I’m fine, Eli. But I swear to the maker, if you don’t make a move right now, you’ll have yourself to blame for whatever happens!" She warned through gritted teeth, her fists turning white from clenching them too much. If she could, she would be running that race right now.

Now even the other contenders that were previously falling behind, caught up with her, snickering at the drama between her and Eli and making jeering sounds. They must be twisted enough to believe that Eli was doing it on purpose to fail her because she was human. God knows she wanted so much to slap them in the face.

Eli noticed the embarrassing flush creeping up her face and how serious she took this race because he growled, "Fine!"

Then he took off.

However, Islinda did not share in the excitement anymore, disappointment obvious in her features. What could Eli do so differently now that the first Fae was almost at the finish line and he had fallen behind other racers as well? It was over. She might not be a quitter but also knew when to give up and acknowledge defeat at the hands of an opponent.

This was over. Or so she thought.

There was some sight of a magical dome cast over the race course so whatever ability the contenders summoned didn’t harm the audience watching the race. So the first thing Islinda noticed was that the environment was suddenly plunged into coldness and she rubbed her hands up and down her arms.

It was Aldric’s winter, meaning it was naturally cold, but the weather drastically dropped while the air turned chilly. Islinda breathed out the fog, watching with fascination as it rose to the night sky. However, the most shocking part came when the shape of the protective dome began to reflect as the frigid temperature coated it.

What drew Islinda’s attention back to the race was the sudden uproar from the crowd and she turned only for her eyes to almost pop out of her socket. The first contender was frozen, literally, a step away from the finish line. It was not just him. Every other contender in the race with Eli had been frozen in mid-movements, like an eerie winter show.

By the gods, Islinda was utterly dumbfounded. Eli and Aldric, both personalities were indeed scary when they went all out. And though the audience could not guess his identity – or doubted it. Why would the dark Fae prince be on a date with a human? – they could sense how lethal Eli was and that he was a high Fae. She bet they were running through their mind what high Fae lord possessed such prowess.

It was obvious that Eli was not bothered with the race, because the instant he crossed the finish race, he tossed the baton away and strode towards her, his intense gaze fixed on her in such a manner it made her fidget under the scrutiny.

With the winner of the race declared, the female Faeries rushed over to their frozen partners, beginning to thaw the frost safely to the best of their ability, not that it concerned Eli. He didn’t care to release them as if saying they deserved it and because of one Fae’s mistake of harming his beloved, they collectively shared in the punishment.

The crowd cheered wildly for them but Islinda could not enjoy the celebration, not with Eli staring at her with a darkened face. She tensed, anticipating his scolding, and squeezed her eyes shut. But he didn’t say a word, taking her hand instead and pulling her along, leaving her choice but to force her eyes open.

Eli took her to the spot where the Fae who had hurt her stood, checking on her partner who was "freshly thawed". How in the world he knew that Fae hit her was beyond Islinda.

The sassy female glared at them, "What do you want?" She definitely bore a grudge against them both for what Eli did to her Partner. And how close her lover had been to winning the race for her. Indeed, what a shame.

"Eli, remember the rules," Islinda wanted to stop him in case he intended to pick up a fight over what happened. Moreover, he already had his vengeance by freezing them. If he fought now, they would get disqualified.

"Heal her," Eli commanded.

The Fae who Islinda just realized was from the spring court let out a mocking laugh, "Are you kidding me right now? Why would I –?"

She was still saying when Eli’s eyes flashed with darkness and her mouth opened in a silent scream.

"Y–You..." The Fae was horrified, and finally recognized the dark Fae prince.

Eli took a step forward, towering over her, "Heal. Her. Face. Now."
