Mated To The Cruel Prince -
Chapter 274: The Three Spies
Chapter 274: The Three Spies
Queen Nirvana was livid.
She stormed into her room and turned to stare at the door, embarrassment filling her upon recalling the undignified manner Theodore had kicked her out.
Queen Nirvana was unable to believe it. After everything she had done for that bastard, this was the way he paid her back. Even when it was for his own good?! This is why you shouldn’t have a male child, they were bound to stab you in the heart after they got what they wanted, unlike the obedient females!
Queen Nirvana was unable to calm down especially when her eyes collided with Theodore’s portrait on the mantle. It was a picture of his younger self when her son had been less rebellious and compliant to her orders. She couldn’t help but trace her fingers across his features, however, her anger returned like a mighty ocean wind and Queen Nirvana threw the portrait on the ground, stomping on it till it was ruined.
The only reason she stopped was because a knock came on her door and she pushed her tousled hair away from her face, asking in a harsh tone, "Who is it?!"
"It is your humble servant, Queen consort Nirvana." Her chambermaid answered with a trembling voice.
"What do you want?" She queried her from the Inside, making no move to answer the door. Nirvana was not in the mood to entertain any visitor, not after the dreadful meeting with her son.
"You have a visitor, my Queen."
"Well, do tell the visitor to return tomorrow. I’m not interested in late-night visits." She huffed, fluffing her hair. Even if it were the king, she would not see him.
"But my queen, I can’t."
Queen Nirvana’s expression hardened at once, what’s with everyone disobeying her orders today?
"What did you just say?" Nirvana asked, her voice low and dangerous. If her handmaiden just insulted her, then she can’t let it go otherwise, everyone in the palace picks up the habit.
However, that was merely an excuse. Queen Nirvana has been looking for a way to blow off some steam and her innocent handmaiden unintentionally volunteered to be one.
"My Queen, I just can’t..."
Queen Nirvana was so blinded by anger she couldn’t notice the slight panicking in her tone. She strode over to the door and flung it open.
"How dare you – Oh." Queen Nirvana’s expression changed when she saw the figure in a cloak behind the maidservant.
She peered closely at the figure trying to decipher her identity, "Who is this?"
"Your Highness," The figure bowed before lowering the hood and the Queen looked surprised as if she had not been expecting the visit. Nonetheless, a smile lit her expression.
"This is why I couldn’t leave, Queen consort Nirvana," The handmaiden told her, her eyes lowered.
"You did well." Queen Nirvana praised her, "Now, you can leave us alone." She turned, only to add, "On a second thought, please watch the door. You never know, the walls might have ears." She said before waving her visitor in.
Once inside, the Queen stared at the mess before turning to the cloaked figure, saying with a smile that did not touch her eyes, "Mind not the mess, I was in the middle of something. However, I’m sure you have seen worse things, haven’t you, Aurelia?"
And yes, this was the same Aurelia who was the head of servant at Aldric’s castle. It was safe to say that Aldric had prolonged his days in this realm by failing to trust anyone.
"You’re right, Queen consort Nirvana. I have encountered a lot of things in my line of work." Aurelia concurred, taking a seat alongside the Queen as she had gestured.
Queen Nirvana sat with her legs crossed, looking at Aurelia with expectations, "Considering you are here at this witching hour, it’s safe to say you have news for me."
"Prince Aldric is back. I came as soon as I found out to tell you that." Aurelia informed her.
"Hmmm," Queen Nirvana gnawed on her bottom lip, "I don’t know how to feel about this. I was hoping he would remain in hiding until the ball was over. Aldric is a variable I cannot predict."
"How so, my Queen? Even now, he’s with the human, Islinda. I think he’s very much interested in her more than he thinks. I’m older, so I can see these things clearly. He adores her unlike Rosalind’s futile efforts to pull down his defenses. Islinda does not even try hard to do so."
"Interesting, "Queen Nirvana breathed, looking deep in thought, "If I play my cards well, the human can be a great instrument in my hand. However, Aldric is not stupid and with the girl being involved with Valerie, I cannot help but feel this is history repeating except this time, I hope both princes destroy each other, leaving the throne open for my son to take it. How easy that would be." She couldn’t help but envision the future.
Queen Nirvana instructed Aurelia, "Keep an eye on the human, Islinda. Knowing that bitch Maeve, she must be getting antsy with the ball fast approaching. She invited Aldric and the human for a reason. If she doesn’t take care of the girl before the ball, she will do so at the ball."
"I’ll do as you say, my Queen." Aurelia bowed her head.
"Who knows this might be the perfect opportunity I’ve been waiting for. The heavens must be at my side." Queen Nirvana cackled.
Meanwhile, at the same time in the palace.....
"You mean to tell me that Rosalind might be working for Fae Queen Maeve while Aurelia is definitely with Queen Nirvana," Victoria asked Lizy, dumbfounded.
And yes, it was the same Lizy who worked as a servant in Aldric’s castle.
"I believe so, my Queen. Before I left, I checked on Rosalind and her bed was empty. I managed to find her sneaking out and not long after, Aurelia followed suit. I tracked them both to the palace. It was merely a stroke of luck that I found out their identity. "
Victoria sighed deeply, "What are my co-wives up to? I just hope whatever they do doesn’t land Andre in trouble. "
