Mated To The Cruel Prince
Chapter 251: Let Islinda Go

Chapter 251: Let Islinda Go

The living room was a mess after the small fight but the princes didn’t care, sprawled out respectively on the couches and floor in comfortable silence. The mess would be cleared up later by the staff and the little injuries sustained during the fight had already healed with ease.

This was not the palace either, Valerie had escaped to breathe and ended up in Andre’s manor outside the city - he wouldn’t be found here easily. His mother would be mad when she found out that he did not attend to his schedule today, which might have included a meeting with the seamstress to make his attire for the ball.

But then, whether he went for the fitting or not, Valerie was sure the seamstress would come up with something amazing. He rather avoided direct contact with the Fae who would probe him about the ball and his taste in females. The reality of the situation was growing with each day and it left him more anxious than he usually was. The summer prince was usually an embodiment of confidence, but not this time.

"You do know Aldric is on the market as well," Andre finally raised the topic that everyone in the house has been tactically avoiding. But then, Andre was a straightforward Fae and this conversation could not be avoided forever.

Theodore was lying on the couch, the same with Valerie opposite him, unlike Andre on the floor as punishment for mocking them earlier. His head was on the armrest, his leg resting on the other end and the remaining foot touching the floor.

The spring Fae snorted, "As if any high Fae in her right mate would choose him."

"You never know." Andre disagreed, "I stumbled upon a gossip one time in a tavern and it was about him. Some females heard of his prowess in bed and were curious about him. Curiosity can be a good motivator."

"As expected, only useless low Fae would be interested in him." He said with unbridled disgust in his tone.

Andre did not bother arguing with Theodore anymore. He had a strong dislike for their dark Fae brother and it ran deep even though Aldric has done nothing to him, except defeat his ass an uncountable number of times. So when it comes to Aldric, his brother could not see beyond reasoning.

His eyes roved over Valerie whose face was shielded with his arm and seemed to be asleep when he wasn’t. His pointed ear twitched and that was enough sign for Andre to know he was listening to their conversation.

"I heard rumors that your mother insisted Aldric attend the ball with the human. Doesn’t that sound suspicious?" Andre said to him and though he was greeted with silence,

Valerie could not continue with the act. He flung his arm away, staring at the ceiling with a heavy sigh before he sat up. He opened his mouth to speak only for his brother to beat him to it.

"Perhaps, this might be for the best. The both of you could never have been together anyway. Moreover, the human fits Aldric anyway. A human and a dark prince," Theodore made the insulting remark, bursting into laughter and expecting that his brothers would join him, but the empty looks on their faces were all he needed for the laughter to end.

Theodore gulped, why did his brothers look angry, most especially Valerie? The summer prince looked like he would obliterate him on the spot with his intense gaze again. The spring prince felt stupid for speaking and tried to explain himself,

"I mean, you could have never been with a human anyway and that is a good thing. You wouldn’t even need to send her away this time, Aldric would help you kill her."

The temperature did not drop, rather it increased as if the sun suddenly dropped in the room and Andre cursed under his breath, shooting up to his feet and moving over to Valerie.

"Come on, let it go. Let’s go outside. You need to cool off. " Andre said to Valerie whose eyes were a blazing yellow and Theodore shuddered, thanking the gods the summer prince could not shoot fire from his eyes.

"You think I want her dead? That I want her with that monster Aldric?!" He growled, lunging at Theodore but Andre held him back.

"Come on, this is not worth it. You’re not thinking straight right now!" Andre was ever the peacemaker.

Unfortunately, Theodore was too dense or as a Fae could not understand why his brother was hung over the human. She was a mere human for crying out loud. He said, "Why are you being like this? I only pointed out the reality -"

"By the gods, don’t say another word!" Andre shut him up with an intense look before turning to Valerie and began to drag him away, "Come on now, you need air to think."

Andre successfully pulled the furious Valerie out the backdoor and was outside when the summer prince let out an anguished scream. Unlike the earlier scuffle, if a fight had broken out between them, it would have been serious. Heck, they would burn and wreck his home. Moreover, this was not the time for the brothers to be fighting, especially over a human.

Andre did not entirely blame Theodore, no one could understand Valerie’s obsession with the human. A royal Fae having feelings for a mere human was unheard of. Humans were fragile. Weak. They were not a match. Human emotions were a source of amusement to the Fae, and now, Valerie’s feeling for her wasn’t too far from becoming a laughingstock.

"How dare him!" Valerie raged, "What does he know about Islinda?! I should kill him -!"

"And then what?! Would Islinda live after that? Moreover, would you kill your own brother over a human?"

Valerie’s nose flared, but Andre saw the resignation in his eyes and he turned his face away.

"I think Theodore is right, though. If you go against your mother’s order, Islinda would die. It’s time for you to let the human go."
