Chapter 247: It’s Just Us Left

[The ingredients we need have finally arrived and it is time to execute the plans. You have just a few days to find the prince, and seduce him else the drug loses its potency. Dispose of the note properly when you’re done ~~ yours truly Rosa]

The blood drained from Islinda’s face as soon as she read the note, strength leaving her body.

Well, fuck.

As if her day couldn’t get any worse.

She hadn’t encountered Rosalind over the past days either and assumed, maybe, she had given up on the plan too. If only Islinda knew she had only left to acquire the stuff they needed. The Fae took advantage of the chaos recently to make her departure without drawing suspicion.

With her initial confidence and desire gone, Islinda became scared now that the deadline was drawing near, and the reality of the situation set in. By the gods, she had to seduce and drug Aldric. What if their plans fail? Islinda gulped and felt her throat, sensing the dark prince’s phantom throttle. One thing was for sure, Aldric would not stop halfway this time, he would surely murder her.

Perhaps it was the fear running through her, Islinda stared across her locked room warily, suddenly safety cautious. She tore the note into pieces and thought of hiding the mess under her bed, yet was not satisfied with the idea. What if some bored Fae staff, like the ones who regularly clean her room, decides to restore the note?

Most of the female Fae who worked in Aldric’s castle were gossips and Islinda would not be surprised if one snoops around enough to find the pieces. Islinda then thought of tossing the bits out through the window. However, it crossed her mind that Aldric’s spies, the Ravens, were still around.

She had no idea the extent of Aldric’s ability or influence over the birds. What if they picked up every bit and sent it back to him? Islinda groaned, what did she do in her past life to deserve this? What had Rosalind been thinking about asking her to dispose of this?

Left with no other idea, Islinda picked the pieces and molded them into a ball in her palm before tossing it into her mouth and beginning to chew it. Islinda pulled a long face as she chewed on, hoping this didn’t become their regular means of communication. She couldn’t chew more paper till they successfully executed their plan.

Grimacing as she swallowed, Islinda poured out a glass of water which she used to flush the whole thing down her throat. She then braced herself against the table and shut her eyes for a few minutes to catch her breath. Her heart wouldn’t stop racing out of both nervousness and anticipation.

Islinda scratched her neck, then rubbed her belly, it felt kind of weird. Really weird. Surely, she wasn’t going to die from eating pieces of paper like some goat, right? Also, was this ordinary paper or some Fae enchanted one?

If this method of disposal backfires on her, does Zaya have some kind of way of extracting the paper or would she have to do it the normal way?

By pooping.

Islinda waited a while but nothing happened and she thanked the gods for it. Islinda doesn’t want any more complications in her life than as it was right now – unless of course, it draws Aldric’s attention and he finally makes an appearance.

With the plan now clear to her, Islinda made up her mind. If Aldric wouldn’t come to her, she would go to him. He can’t stay away from her forever. Islinda flung her door open with determination and nearly ran into Aurelia.

"Goodness, gracious, my lady," She let out a startled gasp, a hand on her chest, "Where are you headed in a hurry, my lady? Is there something wrong, tell me and I will have that resolved." The Fae straightened up, eager to serve her.

"Calm down Aurelia," Islinda told her, her gaze roaming across the hallway and settling on Aldric’s room further down, "there is no cause for alarm. I merely need to speak to the prince in his room."

"I don’t think the prince would appreciate you meddling in his privacy while he’s away," She told her with a long sigh.

Islinda shook her hands defensively, "I am not invading his privacy, I just need to speak....wait a minute," She narrowed her gaze at the female Fae, "He’s away?" Her lips pressed into a thin line, having caught onto the line, "You told me he was busy."

Aurelia’s eyes widened slightly having been caught in her own lie and she panicked, "I didn’t necessarily mean that the prince was busy in his room. He could be busy anywhere else."

Islinda frowned, damn the Fae and their ability to manipulate their words? By the gods, how was this any different from lying? Islinda did not sit around to hear Aurelia spin more tales and confuse her, she turned and decided to go investigate the truth herself.

"My lady, please don’t. Prince Aldric doesn’t like ...." Aurelia grabbed Islinda’s wrist to stop her but the deep scowl on the human’s face made her let go. However, she still attempted to convince her, "My lady, you don’t have to do this,"

However, Islinda was far gone and when she had gotten to Aldric’s living quarters, pushed open the door and went in. It was empty. Void of his presence. The room seemed even more spacious now that he was away and she scanned the length of it. There was no Aldric.

However, to ensure magic was not involved, she went in and made her thorough search - and checked if he left the medallion by chance. Hopefully. Aldric already taught her that nothing was as it is in Astaria. Going through his wardrobe brought back memories of that night she had first slept in his room and Islinda was red in the face by the time she was done.

"I told you, my lady," Aurelia said, standing at the entrance, and watching her, "The prince is busy."

Islinda turned to her, exhausted, "Where is he?"

"I’m sorry, my lady but I have no idea."

"You have no idea or you refuse to tell me the truth, Aurelia. Which of them?" Islinda growled, warning her not to fool her again.

"It’s the truth, my lady. Prince Aldric left with specific instructions to keep an eye on you and not to look for him because he will be occupied." Aurelia confessed the truth.

"Issac," It hit her, "He must know where -"

"He left as well, my lady. I’m afraid, It’s just us in the castle, lady Islinda."

Well, damn her, Islinda’s mouth opened and closed in disbelief. How was she supposed to seduce and drug a Fae prince she had no idea of his whereabouts?
