Chapter 240: Seduce And Drug Aldric

Islinda need not guess why Rosalind hung around until Zaya was done healing her with the Fae advising her to have a short rest and then left as if she somehow sensed the tension between both females and the need to talk.

Biting down on her lips nervously, Islinda wondered where to start and the amount of information to share with the Fae that wasn’t too much. She might have deceived Zaya with her excuses but this was Rosalind who had been with Adric for as long as the gods know. Rosalind knew Aldric to the core - and his sex drive. She knows what the dark Fae prince was capable of.

Islinda expelled a large breath, "I’m sorry," She said, "I was not supposed to get involved with Aldric. I mean he’s your lover and all, and to be honest, I don’t do well with sharing. If I were in your shoes, I’d feel bad and probably deal with the situation emotionally. But if it makes you feel better, then you should know that I haven’t slept with him." Yet.

She looked up after the confession, hoping to get some reaction from Rosalind, but there was none. Was she angry or not? The female Fae’s expression was too apathetic to read a thing.

"That day you saw me on his bed, something happened and I had to leave my own room to stay in his," Islinda told her warily, studying her body language to know when Rosalind would charge at her and she would run for her life. But so far, there was none. The Fae was oddly calm.

Or perhaps, that was a Fae thing to not close clarity when another woman confesses to be intimate with your lover. Lots of human experiences have taught Islinda that this was the point where her hair would be pulled out by the emotional victim. She could not understand the Fae race at all.

"Someone tried to kill me that night and Aldric protected me. I couldn’t stay in the room anymore in case the killer returned." Islinda fed her the incomplete truth of the event.

Andre already informed her that Valerie would be in trouble if the truth were to get out, she was not about to risk that. Especially not to Rosalind. Apart from her fascination with Aldric, she had no idea where her loyalty lies and could not trust her completely.

Aside from that, what if she talked to someone else and the news spread like wildfire? Then it would be her fault. In one word, no one can know what happened that night.

"What am I trying to say? I would not betray you by sleeping with Aldric. No matter his advances, I would fight with him. That is the least respect I could pay you for daring to love Aldric," The mad Fae, "After today’s incident, I am more than determined to get away from him," To ensure this strange attraction doesn’t grow into something else. Something intense and overwhelming. She can never open up her heart for Aldric, he would shatter it into a million pieces.

Islinda was done with her speech and stared at her hands on her lap as if it were a thing of interest as she waited for Rosalind to say something. Her stomach coiled with anticipation and couldn’t stand the nervousness anymore, waiting for Rosalind’s judgment.

"You can sleep with Aldric."

A jolt went through Islinda and her head whipped up so quickly that her neck nearly cracked. "What?" She said, her voice a whisper, completely stunned.

She stood, having been sitting so far, and looked at Rosalind with both horror and disbelief. Islinda blinked, "What are you talking about?"

"You heard me right, Islinda. You can sleep with Aldric. I don’t mind. No, I wouldn’t," Rosalind sighed deeply, as if doing her a huge favor.

Islinda gave her a long look, "You are joking, right?"

"Do I look like I’m joking? I’m making the sacrifice here," Rosalind said, closing the distance between them, "This is a hard decision for me to make, you know?"

"Which is why I don’t understand why you are making such a sacrifice in the first place?" Islinda retorted, a scowl on her face. Was this a test by Rosalind or what? To see whether she would jump at the idea of sleeping with her lover. She must be kidding her.

Rosalind growled, "Aldric confronted me! He thinks that I’m overstepping my boundaries and although he doesn’t sense one bit of my affection for him, he’s fascinated with you and definitely plans to replace me with you. Once you sleep with Aldric, he will be more trusting and that makes our work easier. You will seduce him and then drug him when he least expects it. "

Islinda recoiled in disgust," I would do no such thing. "

"What?" Rosalind’s eyes flashed and for a moment there, Islinda thought she would hurt her which prompted her to take a step back, but the Fae seemed to have a good grasp on her emotion. She calmed down.

Islinda continued, "Even if that were to happen, aren’t you scared that I would really take over your spot?"

"You’re not staying, remember?" She reminded her with a smirk, "Moreover, even if you were to stay around for a while, you are human and your beauty would fade like a withering flower, unlike Aldric and I with our timeless faces. Not to mention, you are mortal, all it would take is some years and you would be gone forever, forgotten. But I will be here, and so will Aldric. Who do you think will gain in the long run?"

Islinda was frozen, her expression ashen as she was stunned by the brutality of the revelation. It was the truth she evaded the whole time and it hit her hard in the chest. In this realm, she was no one. Nothing. Valerie used and dumped her. And Aldric practically did the same. No one truly wanted her. She was nothing but a liability to either princes.

Rosalind reached out and touched her shoulder and though she flinched, the Fae squeezed fondly with a softened expression, "I am sorry that I am rude, but this is the truth and what you have to do. As harsh as it sounds, you don’t belong here, Islinda. You are fragile. Weak. Look what happened today, Aldric almost killed you and it might happen again. The ingredients we need will be arriving tomorrow and you know what to do, Islinda. Seduce, and drug Aldric, steal the medallion and you will be out of here at last. "
