Mated To The Cruel Prince -
Chapter 180: A Naked Maxi
Chapter 180: A Naked Maxi
"Where are you taking me, shy Fae? It’s been minutes already," Islinda complained, dragging her feet along as she followed after him.
"Seriously, stop it!" Issac stopped walking and turned to give her a sharp glare that could vaporize anyone on the spot if he was capable of it.
Islinda halted at the same time with enough space between them, noticing the serious look on his face.
She shrugged, "Fine, let’s call a truce then."
"Yes. A truce. Finally!" He eagerly gave in now that he was at the receiving end of it.
Issac visibly relaxed upon her words knowing she wouldn’t tease him anymore. It had been fun taunting Islinda until she returned the favor.
"We are here," He said, coming into the horse barn that was separated from the castle building.
"Why are we here?" Islinda couldn’t help but ask, although that didn’t stop her from appreciating the view.
The barn was made up of large stalls where the horses can rest and sleep, and she could spot about six horses in it. The walls and ceilings of the barn are made from wood, and the floors were covered with dirt to provide a comfortable and safe environment for the animals. It had a large open area which Islinda guessed was used for exercising the horses and an arena for training purposes.
And it was that arena that Issac headed to, leaving her no option but to follow after him, but not without whining irritably.
"Seriously, I don’t understand what is going on here, Issac. I told you to take me to Maxi, not to tour the horse barn. I understand this makes a pretty sight but let’s focus on priority first." She continued to talk even as Issac opened the small wooden door of the arena and went in.
Islinda did the same.
"Could you for once respond to me and not me sound like a fool," Islinda nagged the Fae when there was nothing but silence from him.
However, she noticed Issac walk closer to a very intimidating black stallion, and the words she was about to badger him with vanished at once.
It was astonishing.
Islinda had seen the other horses in the stall and none of them could be compared to this one nor could she guess the breed, not that she was knowledgeable about the animal. Islinda loved horses back in the human realm, but she was poor and couldn’t afford to own one. Whenever she could afford it though, she went to watch horse racing as a treat and to reward herself for working hard.
Hence, she had seen a lot of horses, but nothing like this one. The black stallion was majestic, powerful, threatening yet beautiful. Islinda did not need a soothsayer to tell her that the horse belonged to Aldric. She could only imagine the dark prince riding this monstrosity; it fitted them.
Now that Islinda thought about it, she must have seen the horse once or so. On the night of Valerie’s party, it pulled the carriage which they rode to the palace. Islinda had not noticed it because she had been filled with nerves and anticipation to see Valerie that day.
But now, she had all the time to appreciate its beauty. Islinda was almost tempted to run her hand across its dark manes and had almost stretched out her hand to touch it when she remembered admiring a strong horse was not her purpose for coming here.
She lowered her hand, wrapping it across her chest instead with a stern look, trying to appear intimidating as she queried him, "Where is Maxi? You said you are taking me to her?"
Issac folded his arms across his chest as well, with Islinda noticing how his strong muscles bulged with the motion. He tilted his head forward, "You’re staring right at her."
Islinda followed his line and saw nothing. Well, all she did see was a horse grazing the field with its tail swishing from side to side. But just to be sure, Islinda looked around the arena to discover that it was just her and Issac in the horse barn.
Thinking that Issac was making a fool of her, Islinda’s face darkened and she growled at him, "This is not funny Issac. There is time for everything and this is not the period for pranks. Tell me where you are keeping Maxi?"
Issac’s eyes darkened, visibly offended by her accusation. He retorted, "Do you think I have time for pranks either? Why would I lie? You’re the only one blind enough not to see who is right in front of you!"
"Who is right in front of me?" Islinda picked up on those words with a frown. Issac didn’t look like he was joking, but there was no sign of Maxi. Or has she reverted to being a ghost and only Issac could see her? Why can’t she see her this time? It hasn’t been the case at the start.
Islinda turned back to the scene, noticing the horse who lifted its head and was staring at her. Intrigued and curious to know if there was something special about the horse since it belonged to Prince Aldric, Islinda stared into its blue eyes. It was weird but a nagging feeling tugged at the back of her mind like she had seen those pairs of eyes somewhere. On someone...
Recognition dawned on her and a shiver trailed down her back while goosebumps erupted on her arms. No way. That was impossible. Islinda was shocked by the revelation her jaw dropped to the ground. Maxi was a Fae, not a horse. Was that even possible?!
To confirm her doubt, she stared further into those familiar blue eyes until she was sucked in, it was like staring at a mesmerizing painting. That was until she heard a voice bounce off in her head.
"Hello, Islinda."
"Ahh!" Islinda screamed and her body reacted instinctively to the fear as she jumped on Issac’s body, climbing him as if he were a tree in a desperate attempt to wrap her arms around his neck and anchor herself to him, leaving the fae had no choice but to catch her before she fell. He held her protectively.
What just happened? What the hell was that?
However, just as Islinda was beginning to relax in his arms, Issac let go of her, the action taking her by surprise that her arms slipped from around his neck and Islinda fell on her bum just as the horse right in front of her changed in a cloud of dark smoke and became Maxi.
A naked Maxi.
Islinda fainted.
