Mated To The Cruel Prince
Chapter 157: Soul Transfusion

Chapter 157: Soul Transfusion

Valerie was shocked when the witch discovered his identity because he had not given anything out unless she was psychic.

"How?" He didn’t even know when the words slipped from his mouth. Valerie was careful and had covered his face thoroughly, there was nothing on him to suggest that he was the crown prince.

"The royal emblem on your cloak." She answered.

"What?" Valerie answered knowing that was impossible until he looked down and saw the small, round royal insignia on his left side. Fuck, how had he not noticed that? Although that was still not enough to tag him as the crown prince.

Dorcas continued, "I sensed you were a high Fae from your noble aura. Also, not everyone can buy over Rat Ear easily which means you have a lot of coins to spend. Not to mention, who doesn’t know Prince Valerie? You are highly beloved and to the children in the neighborhood, you are their superhero. So I too needed to know what you look like. And then when I talked about the king, you defended him, not just because you benefited from his reign, but a role you were born into. Try as much as to hide that red hair either, it was a straight giveaway as I put two and two together to figure out who you are. "

"In that case, I guess there’s nothing to hide anymore." Valerie had no choice but to take off the hood, giving the witch a long look.

"Your Highness," Dorcas paid her respect to him, after all, she was in Fae land and wouldn’t want to make an enemy of him. If things went well, she would be able to hide here without any threat with his support.

Snapping her finger, a plush seat befitting his status appeared out of thin air beside him.

"Take a seat, please, your highness."

Valerie sat down graciously, crossing his leg over the other just as the witch sat before him.

"Dorcas at your service. How may I help you, your highness? What do you need from me?" The witch said, eager to serve the prince now knowing payment was not an issue anymore. If anything, she would be the one benefiting from this if everything goes well.

"I need to break a Fae bond. Someone that I know is unfairly bound in service to a Fae."

A cup of steaming tea materialized out of thin air and she offered it to the prince, "Want one?"

"No, thank you." Valerie was in no mood for refreshment.

The witch merely shrugged and sipped from the cup before saying, "Let me guess, the human did not know what she was getting into and made a deal with a Fae?"

"Probably," Valerie sighed deeply, rubbing his brow. Islinda was kind and naive and Aldric must have taken advantage of that.

"Unfortunately, my prince, even witches cannot interfere with such a great binding oath and you know that." She gave him a knowing look.

Oh, he sure knew that but Valerie was desperate for a solution and would not mind trying everything and anything.

Valerie asked desperately, "Isn’t there a loophole that you can manipulate? I need her free from that monster."

"Hmmm, the human is indeed precious to you," Dorcas confirmed her suspicion, "Sadly, no. There are certain Fae magic we don’t mess with and that includes the sacred and binding oaths. It is simply impossible to break it. The only way the human can be free is when the Fae in question relieves her of her services." She added, "You’re powerful, surely there must be a way to reason with the Fae to let her go."

If only it were that easy, Valerie was devastated by the witch’s answer. He had a tiny bit of hope that something could be done, only to have it dashed before him. Aldric went through the effect of stealing Islinda right under his nose, so why would he let her go that easily?

Aldric would likely use her to bargain for the crown and Valerie could not lose his position nor Islinda either. He wanted them both. Also, what Aldric did not understand was that it was not in his power to merely hand over the crown he desired, only his father King Oberon could bestow it and he does not see that happening in a thousand years to come. In one word Aldric was fighting a losing battle.

Now, his damned brother has pushed him into making the other decision.

"In that case, I want a soul transfusion."

The witch spat out the tea in her mouth, "What?!" Her eyes had widened with the shock and she looked at the prince as if he had lost his mind.

However, the prince’s expression did not change and Dorcas made the tea cup vanish as she realized this was serious.

She narrowed her gaze at him, "You do know what you’re talking about, Prince Valerie? Even that magic is outlawed amongst witches, not to talk of in the Fae...." She did not dare speak of it

"You have nothing to be scared of, I will protect you."

The witch shook her head, "It’s not just a matter of protection, anything could go wrong."

"The human could die in the hands of the wicked Fae she’s in service to, I would rather take my chances. Nor would I ever forgive myself if I don’t try at all and something happens to her." Valerie attempted to convince her that this was the right choice.

"And this human, does she know what you’re up to?" Dorcas asked with her lips pressed into a thin line. It’s not enough that she’s in hiding and he wants her to perform outlawed magic? It was too risky and had no idea if what she would gain in return was worth the trouble.

Valerie turned away, guiltily, "She would understand." That was all he said.

Dorcas rubbed her temple where she felt a headache brewing, "I don’t think this is a good idea, your highness, there are so many things at risk. For starters, you would have to find a body compatible with her soul. If you find the wrong body, she would survive but only for a while as her body begins to strain, overpowered by the power of the soul. In no time, the body will give up and there is no second transfusion."
