Mated To The Cruel Prince
Chapter 151: Andre Had Ulterior Motives

Chapter 151: Andre Had Ulterior Motives

Just like Fae Queen Maeve, Queen consort Nirvana was breathtakingly beautiful with her green hair cascading down her bottom in waves. If Theodore were to have a walk with his mother in the human realm, they would be perceived as siblings because she was so young and there was not a trace of wrinkles on her face. No, the humans would have fallen on their knees instead and worshiped her because she looked like a beauty.

As expected as the first wife of the king, she was magnificent and carried herself with a delicate behavior. Nirvana didn’t just walk but seemed to glide on the floor and her flamboyant dressing which was meant to draw attention did not fail to perform its role because all eyes were on her.

Both Queens were dressed to the nines and while they didn’t say it out, it was obvious that they had planned to out-dress each other but unlike the Fae Queen, queen consort Nirvana was a spring Fae who had a deep connection to nature and the changing seasons.

Only spring Faeries would be able to weave a dress so delicate it evoked a sense of beauty, fragility, and elegance.

She commanded attention without even trying hard. Unfortunately, no one would dare to tell Queen Maeve that she lost this round, not if they still wanted their head on their shoulder. Or wanted to live the rest of their lives in the palace peacefully. Queen Maeve was known to be petty and had a nasty temper.

Queen Consort Nirvana arrived at the table and bowed her head at the king, "Apologies, your majesty, I had not intended to keep you or the others...." She gave Queen Maeve a significant look," Waiting. However, I was just excited about my son’s return that I had to doll myself up a bit to meet him."

"Obviously," said Queen Maeve, her gaze taking in her rival’s appearance with such great intensity it was a wonder she did not set her alight with a gaze. Valerie, who had been observing his mother unconsciously leaned forward in his seat, ready to extinguish the fire if she did so.

"Excuse me, your majesty," Consort Nirvana turned to Queen Maeve, "You were saying?"

Queen Maeve said sarcastically, "It is quite funny, you talk as if your son was away for a long time that we all missed his grand presence."

Unlike Andre who vanished to the gods knows where, Prince Theodore has been present in the palace a couple of times. Not to mention, not many Faeries noticed he was even gone. His churlish presence seems to linger. If there were anyone who took notice of his absence, it was the servants who were often relieved they wouldn’t have to deal with his overbearing attitude.

Queen Nirvana’s face twitched with suppressed anger at the jibe her co-wife and enemy Queen Fae Maeve threw at her.

However, she was quick to control the emotion, responding with a sweet smile that didn’t touch her eyes, "Oh, don’t worry your majesty, my son was only being considerate of his family so he doesn’t get into trouble that requires him getting rescued by his beloved brother, Aldric."

Queen Maeve’s face flushed with embarrassment, her hands on her lap shaking as they formed into fists. She had tried to hide the attack on Valerie from the public to protect his reputation and honor, yet the news came out anyway. After all, the trees have ears in Astaria.

To make things worse, her husband King Oberon appointed that damned son of his to rescue the crown prince when they could have taken a few hundred soldiers to do the work. It had taken her a lot of effort to come out in public afterward because Nirvana had not failed to rub it in her face with every encounter, just like now.

Queen Maeve told her, "Sorry I have to correct you but Prince Valerie did not get into trouble. He was out there performing his duty when he was attacked by wraiths. But I guess that Is a responsibility your son would never understand." She threw a low jibe on how her son couldn’t be the crown prince.

"Y-you -!" Queen consort Nirvana choked, glaring at her rival with so much hate. She might have been winning this fight but Maeve hit her in the spot where it hurt the most.

"Enough!" King Oberon shouted, his voice reverberating across the hall with so much power that the pixies shrieked and took cover behind each of the prince’s backs.

He threatened them, "One more fight and I will leave."

Both Queens glared at each other, their gazes accusing one another as the cause of their husband’s outbursts while Queen Consort Victoria sighed from her position. She took a glass of wine and gulped it down, knowing that she was going to require something strong to survive the rest of this meal. She hated gatherings like this.

"I’m sorry for being inconsiderate of your presence, your majesty, and letting myself get carried away by our friendly jokes." Queen consort Nirvana was good with words, waving aside the exchange as mere banter.

Fae Queen Maeve did not contradict her words either knowing there was no time for everything and the king was not going to accept their insolence anymore. Moreover, she couldn’t push herself to the same low level as the spring Fae Queen. Nirvana was not worth her energy.

The king did not answer with words but a low grunt and queen consort Nirvana smirked, giving her rival Maeve a mean look before taking the empty seat on the other side of the king. Seated, Nirvana stared across the room and saw her other co-wife Victoria.

The Autumn Queen Victoria lifted her wine glass in her direction and she smiled back in response. Queen consort Nirvana liked Victoria for one reason, she knew her place and didn’t overstep her boundaries. Having arrived earlier, Victoria could have taken the other seat closest to the king but she knew whom that was reserved for. She recognized her power unlike a certain Fae Queen bitch.

Nirvana didn’t care if she had the title of Fae Queen or if her son was the crown prince, she was the Queen of this palace and would not take her disrespect. Her position as Fae Queen was only in title, she had the most authority in the palace and Nirvana would not give up until that bitch accepted her place was below her.

The Fae Queen coward had not even been bold enough to lift her head when Nova, the winter queen, was around because King Oberon was enamored with her and had no time for any of them until that incident happened. Good thing Nova was gone, and it was now just one obstacle in her path. The winter queen had been a greater foe, not just because she had the King’s attention, but because she was one cold, mean, intelligent bitch and her bite was deadly.

Queen Consort Victoria signaled Andre to finally make a move. If Maeve and Nirvana were going to battle it out, at least she would have him beside her for support. Not to mention, Andre was good at defusing crises. He would be able to help her out considering both queens played mind games with her and wanted her to take sides.

But that damned son of hers had no ounce of loyalty towards her. Andre responded with gestures only both of them understood, a coaxing smile and a silent air kiss. Victoria sighed, if only the gods could take him back and give her a daughter.

Finally, they ate peacefully until King Oberon broke the silence by asking Andre, "What have you been up to?"

Andre lifted his head, staring at his father as he answered, "Nothing much. Just exploring here and there, and perhaps, the human realm?" He shamelessly dropped the hint.

"By the gods, Andre!" Victoria cried out, glaring at him, "You do know that the human realm is not suitable for a Fae. Humans are barbarian, crude, and uncultured. What if they saw through their glamor and harmed you?"

"You have nothing to worry about, the gods kept me safe. However, discovery comes from exploration, and it was a fun experience."

"But still -"

"Andre’s right," King Oberon cut her off, "Someone has to keep an eye on the humans and know what they are up to since the truce. What have you observed about humans?"

"Well, they still breed like chickens and they are quite passionate creatures." The underlying meaning in his words had Valerie choking on his wine.

That rascal! Valerie glared at him.

He continued, "Humans are still fragile, however, I have to give them the credit, they are intelligent and evolve quickly. Although I haven’t seen any abnormal movement to raise an alarm, they improve their weapon of destruction day by day. However, I trained a team of Faeries to blend into their society and spy on them. The humans would not take us by surprise. "

"Good. Good. " King Oberon nodded, looking proud of his son’s achievement, and Theodore, who watched the scene, was jealous. He couldn’t remember the last time his father looked at him that way.

"I’m guessing you’re going to stay a while?" Queen Maeve asked with suspicion.

"Definitely," Andre’s lips curled, "Something tells me this season would be quite interesting."

His gaze collided with Valerie who narrowed his eyes at him briefly before looking away and resuming his meal.

"In that case, you would be able to assist your brother for the time being. What are you up to today, Valerie?" King Oberon questioned him.

Valerie put down his cutlery, "Nothing much. I plan to ride into town and grace the people with my presence, proving to them that I’m well." He added, "And I’m sure Andre doesn’t have to assist me immediately. He just returned and should have a proper rest."

Valerie realized his brother might have ulterior motives for staying.
