Mated To The Cruel Prince
Chapter 147: Morning Glory

Chapter 147: Morning Glory

"What?"

"Fae language," Issac said.

Islinda frowned, "I thought Fae spoke English. Since I arrived here, I have heard no such language."

However, Issac chortled at her naivety, "So you haven’t noticed?"

"Noticed what," Islinda’s frown kept increasing as she could sense something was being kept from her and she was not a fan of secrets.

At the same time, she flipped through the pages of the book, recognizing that indeed the writing was something she had never seen. The texts were strange looking yet elegant.

"You are currently speaking the Fae language." Issac dropped the big secret that made her mouth drop open.

"What?! That’s impossible! You don’t know what you’re saying, I’ve been communicating in English all this ...." Islinda argued with him until something clicked in her head and she paused.

Now that she thought about it, Islinda finally noticed that her words were

characterized by soft and lyrical vowels, with a tendency towards long and flowing sounds. The consonants were delicate and created a gentle cadence that adds to the enchantment of the language she just spoke.

"By the gods, no way...." She gasped in belief, glancing up at Issac with wide eyes, "This is not possible. I haven’t heard such a thing until.... How...?"

"It’s the magic in the air." Issac told her, "While our kind can learn your language easily, humans can’t learn ours except in special conditions. Our language is not just a body of words, it is our identity, our pride, ancient and powerful. However, to foster relations with your kind, the air you breathe was spelled so a human could automatically speak and understand it. But then, the instant you leave this realm, the magic loses its effect."

Islinda felt her head spinning with so much information. She muttered, "Aldric did not tell me any of this."

"Because you never noticed nor asked. You seemed comfortable enough, some things are better left that way."

Islinda breathed softly, there were just so many secrets in the Fae realm and she intended to uncover it all. She stared at the book in her hand before reaching for another, and breezing through the pages only to discover that she couldn’t read that one either.

She asked him, "If I could speak and understand your language, why can’t I read the books?" Islinda picked another book and she couldn’t understand a thing.

"Don’t you get it? Information is power and the books offer glimpses into the mysteries and secrets that lie within the Fae realms. The knowledge is hidden so it doesn’t fall into the wrong hands considering human nature and your unending greed."

"Fine, I get the point, blah blah," Islinda was tired of his words, "Just the same way I’m able to speak your language, isn’t there a way to unlock these books or something."

"Of course, there is."

Islinda’s expression brightened at once, all hope was not lost. She waited eagerly for an answer but when she saw the glint in Issac’s eyes, she knew, and her face fell.

"Prince Aldric," Issac revealed.

"No." Islinda shook her head in refusal, "That’s not going to happen."

"Only the prince can permit you to read them. The authority is with him."

"No, I can’t. Do you even know what that means?"

"Begging him?"

"Yes, that and more!" Islinda shouted, pacing up and down the library.

Aldric would surely want something in return, Islinda knew it. If there’s anything she picked up during her stay here, it was the fact that Faeries never do anything for free. There was always a catch even for a simple favor.

She stopped and marched towards Issac, quickly taking his hands before he could stop her, and pleaded with him, "Can’t you translate them for me, please? I just need to know a short history about the Fae and some useful information that would help me keep my head on my shoulder?" The Fae realm was too dangerous for her not to know anything.

"I am sorry but even I too can’t disclose such information to you without authorization. Prince Aldric is the king of this castle, bypassing his authority is equivalent to treason. I too want my head on my shoulder." Issac apologized to her.

"No!" Islinda wailed, her legs giving out as she sank onto the floor dramatically.

"The word ’lady like’ was definitely wasted on you," Isaac was back with his sass, and that only provoked Islinda who now sprawled out on the floor of the library, throwing a tantrum.

"Fussing wouldn’t solve your problem, I suggest thinking of ways to bring your disability to the prince. Although, I believe there are other books collected from your world and you should be able to read them."

That finally caught Islinda’s attention and she sprang up to her feet, giving him a questionable look, "Really?"

"Not all of the books are from this realm and come from diverse places in your world. Prince Aldric loves varieties in his collection," said Issac.

"Fine, let me see them."

And just like that, there was a repeat of his spectacular display earlier, except the books were numerous this time and when Issac handed the mountain to her, she nearly caved under its weight.

"There’s more from where that came from," Issac announced and with great effort, Islinda had to carry the books to the alcove where she dropped them on the table and returned for more.

For the second time, there was no help from Issac in carrying the heavy books and Islinda suspected the Fae was torturing her through this opportunity. So she refused to come for more, deciding to go through the piles on the table first.

"Fine, if you say so," Issac shrugged, returning the other books.

Thus, Islinda began to sort through the book and while it was an interesting experience, most of the books were about human history and literature. It did not exactly give her what she wanted, Islinda wanted information on Fae, not the human realm she was from.

However, all hope was not lost because she stumbled upon a small book titled, ’Morning Glory.’

Curious, Islinda opened a page and went through it only for her eyes to widen to the size of saucers. The book was an erotica... a-hem.

Islinda shut the book at once, going red in the face while her pulse raced. She peered out only to discover that Issac was not looking. She should have put the book away, however, Islinda snuck it into her bodice.

It turns out in the end that every disappointment was a blessing, hehe.
