Mated To The Cruel Prince -
Chapter 145: Do It Again
Chapter 145: Do It Again
Islinda and Issac got over that awkward moment and she was still exploring the library without picking and choosing a book. There were just so numerous books that it was overwhelming and she wanted to feed her eyes before her brains first. Was that a weird thing to say?
She asked Issac, "How do you find the book you need here?"
Issac folded his arms across his chest such that his muscles bulged, giving her a long look, "Are you trying to know how to reach the shelf with your shortness."
Ouch.
The gods knew if Islinda had her quiver with her, she would have shot an arrow into his butt, to teach him a lesson. He was beginning to get on her nerves.
Islinda gave Issac a deadpan look. She was rendered speechless and did not know how to answer that.
"I did not lie, did I?" He pushed on, the subtle lift of the corner of his lips suggesting he took satisfaction in irking her.
Islinda breathed noisily through her nose, mostly out of annoyance, "I would have you know that I am five feet, six inches tall and that is considered an ideal height for a woman in the human realm."
"Really? Issac mocked her," That’s literally the shortest here. "
"Y-you...!" Islinda almost spat out blood at the blatant insult until she realized that Issac enjoyed flustering her. If she wasn’t mistaken, she would almost say he got off on the feeling. The apple didn’t fall far from the tree after all, like master, like a servant.
She gave Issac a long look and he became uncomfortable under her heated scrutiny.
"What?" Issac did not like the sudden glint in her eyes. It was creepy.
Rather than answer him, Islinda covered the little space between them with a step backing him into the bookshelves and Issac swallowed as the atmosphere shifted.
"Islinda..." Issac murmured, confused by the sudden change in her demeanor. He did not like where this was going nor did he know how to handle it.
Although Prince Aldric has not claimed Islinda as his lover, even a blind man could see that he had an interest in her. Not to mention Issac felt nothing for her and Islinda was nothing but a nuisance in his eyes. He already had his hand full with Maxi, add Islinda to the mix and he would go crazy. Neither did he want trouble with the dark prince.
"What are you doing?" Issac asked nervously, inching backwards so their body did not touch only for him to bump into the hard surface. There was no more space.
With boldness, Islinda stretched her hand as if to touch his face and Issac turned the other way, his pulse leaping. Trouble, trouble. Islinda would be the death of him.
However, her hand rested on his chest instead and Islinda stood on her tiptoes, leaning closer so her breath brushed the shell of his pointed ears and he went red in the face.
As a male, Issac’s thought went down the dirty lane and just when he thought the troublesome human would tempt him further, Islinda whispered into his ears, "Who hurt you, Issac?"
And with those words being said, Islinda pushed away from him with laughter on her lips because the horrified look on Issac’s face was just too funny. The Fae looked like a virgin being wooed for the first time.
By the time Isaac realized that the human was pulling his legs, he moved away from the spot cursing under his breath.
"Now that’s a tie. How do you feel about having your feathers ruffled, Issac?" She blew raspberries and made faces at him.
Issac’s stared at the human, his jaw almost dropping to the ground. She was more childish than he thought. And though he would not admit it, Issac admired the fact she stood up for herself.
He acted cool, "Let’s get this over with already."
"But you still haven’t answered my question." She reminded him.
Issac pressed a hand to his temple, taking care of Islinda was too much work than babysitting Fae children who were known for their legendary sensitivity.
He explained to her nonetheless, "The Fae library is a captivating and enchanted place where knowledge is not only preserved but infused with magical essence. Each book and scroll exists in its own magical pocket of reality, making it easy to navigate the vast collection. In the palace library, there are resident guardians or Fae librarians always on hand to guide and assist visitors in their quest for knowledge. Unfortunately, your dark prince is too paranoid to hire outsiders."
If there was anything Islinda loved about Issac, it was the fact that not even the mighty Aldric was spared from his criticism. He was frank and did not behave like other subordinates that she knew. Fae’s like Aurelia.
Islinda did not encourage revolting against authority amongst servants, but she was not impressed with them worshiping the floor their superiors walked on. They should be able to express themselves once in a while. No wonder she was interested in becoming friends with Issac, even though it was a hard task at the moment.
Islinda breathed, "I have no choice but to confess Issac, half of what you just said went through this ear..." She gestured, "and left through the other."
"What?" Issac shouted and face-palmed.
Islinda shrugged innocently, it was too much information.
"Perhaps, a little demonstration would go a long..." She trailed off upon seeing his murderous look.
Islinda took one step back, scratching the back of her head nervously. It wasn’t her fault. She had come here to know the secrets of the Fae realm, not being taught the complexity of a Fae library.
Isaac sucked in a deep breath. Patience. Patience. Do not kill the human yet and get in trouble with the dark prince. Let her die from her own stupidity
He lifted his face, "Watch this."
Islinda stared at Issac with eager fascination just as he lifted his hand and a book flew out of the shelf and wedged itself successfully in the space between his fingers.
"Whoah, that was cool." Islinda shouted, staring at the scene with undiluted allurement. That was amazing.
But Instead of asking Issac how he got the book from the top shelf of the library without moving a muscle, she rubbed her palms together and said,
"Do it again."
