Mated To The Cruel Prince -
Chapter 139: Her Dirty Little Secret
Chapter 139: Her Dirty Little Secret
Morning came with Islinda snoring softly in her sleep right before muttering incomprehensive gibberish that sounded like a baby’s babble. However, the sun’s ray that filtered through the curtain cast its heat upon her making her uncomfortable, plus the tantalizing smell of nature that teased her nostrils and her eyes finally opened.
She yawned loudly, stretching her body and contorting like a worm set on fire before finally relaxing on the bed. A smile crossed Islinda’s lips and for some reason, her body felt lightweight and she was oddly happy. This was the best sleep she has had since arriving here and she wondered why.
Suddenly, the memories began to return and the image of Theodore suffocating her with his twigs made her flinch and she felt her throat. She was fine, nor did she feel any pain. Did they heal her?
Islinda barely lifted the sheet off her body when the memory of Aldric leaning so close to her startled her and had her dropping the sheet in shock. What in the Fae was that? Her heart began to race so fast that she placed her hand on her chest to calm it.
What was that?
But amid her confusion, the memories played out in front of her like a vision. First was the appearance of Aldric’s lush lips that had her swallowing and her throat went dry. She could almost feel it happening again, the way his soft lips crashed hers, his hand snagging her waist and pulling her close till their bodies were pressed together and she could feel his hard form. She dug her hand into his hair and yanked on those silky soft strands as Aldric ravished her lips.
"No!"
Islinda screamed and jumped off the bed in a hurry, staring at it in horror. Please someone tell her that was part of her imagination and not exactly reality. But the evidence was there and even though it had been hours since the event, she still felt the lingering sensation of his lips on hers.
"By the gods...." She gasped as she trailed her thumb across her lips. They really did it. There was the taste of wine on her lips and she drank no wine last night, only him. He kissed her. She kissed him back. The horrors.
"No!" Islinda dramatically fell to the ground, clutching her hair that was already disheveled from sleep. At that moment, she did not possess not even an atom of the poise grace of the Fae.
What was she going to do now? How would she face Aldric? He would never let her hear the end of it. What had gotten into her? What made her even kiss that monster? Handsome men, no, Fae’s would be the death of her.
Someone just kill her already! Islinda felt great turmoil inside.
"My lady,"
Islinda gasped and hastily got on her feet, whirling around to face Aurelia who looked confused at the scene.
She smiled sheepishly at her, "Hello Aurelia. What a fine morning. Are you just waking up? I bet you had a fine night, right? Oh, what a wonderful day to be alive and witness, don’t you think so?" She effused, flustered, and nervous at the same time.
Islinda hoped Aurelia had not seen what transpired between her and Aldric last night. But then, in her memory, there was no sign of her and it was a great relief.
Aurelia and the Fae who usually accompanied her stared at each other, their eyes communicating secretly and Islinda realized at that moment if the Faeries did not know the truth, then her attitude was a straight giveaway.
Islinda bit down on her lips, why was this happening to her?
"My lady, are you okay?" Aurelia asked with a bit of concern in her eyes, "You seem quite zealous and what were you doing on the floor?"
"What was I doing on the floor?" Islinda repeated after her, scratching the back of her head for an answer.
Wallowing in misery, that was the truth but saying that to Aurelia would prompt more questions and in the end lead to the knowledge that she and her Master kissed. As annoying as it was to admit, that kiss with Aldric had to be her little secret.
"Praying." She lied.
"What?"
"I was praying. I don’t know about Fae’s but humans have the God they pray to and I was honoring his presence by giving myself entirely to him and bowing to his authority." That was a convenient excuse. One she hoped, Aurelia accepted.
And she did fall for it.
"Oh, is that so? How nice of you to honor your God. We have our gods and goddesses too. But it’s a relief, I thought it was that time of the month and wondered how to behave around you."
"Huh?" Islinda blinked in surprise, "Oh."
This turned out better than she thought. However, there was a cool nonchalant about Aurelia’s words that had her asking, "What about you? Don’t female Fae’s experience that time of the month too?"
Come to think of it, she knew nothing about their anatomy except the time she had been together with Valerie. She knew how huge his "instrument" had been and wondered if that was a Fae thing or if he was simply blessed. Islinda flushed at the thought.
"We don’t exactly experience that," Aurelia said.
"How so?"
"Upon reaching maturity, your human nature produces eggs every month that need to be fertilized and become an offspring, however, female Fae creatures go into heat and that happens every six months."
"Wow, lucky you," Islinda breathed, admiring the fact they didn’t have to bleed every month and experience excruciating cramps.
"Don’t say so, we are not so lucky," Aurelia said, a shadow falling over her face that made Islinda frown.
"I don’t understand."
"Just because we go into heat every six months doesn’t guarantee a pregnancy. Fae reproduces very rarely. In a species that lives for centuries, we believe that a low reproductive rate is nature’s way of population control. That is why even with our powers, we cannot wipe out the human realm, your number is alarming, and human nature is quite resilient. Not to mention humans improve their weapons of destruction day after day and it wouldn’t surprise me if one day, the fae realm is decimated and overpowered by the humans. "
The revelation was quite an eye-opener for Islinda that it had her mouth open in wonder for over a minute. If she wasn’t mistaken, Aurelia did not have a child either, that was the gloom she had seen on her face earlier. It seems whether human or Fae, life was a bitch to everyone; it was unfair.
"Also, there’s another secret," Aurelia said all of a sudden, intriguing her.
Islinda asked, "What secret?"
