Mated To The Cruel Prince
Chapter 100: Evil Would Never Win Over Good

Chapter 100: Evil Would Never Win Over Good

Before the fight in the ballroom....

"Aldric has arrived in the palace,"

Valerie balled his hands into fists when Derek informed him of his arrival. All through the evening, he had planned several ways of dealing with his devil of a brother for what he did to Islinda. He killed her. There was no way the entire family could be dead without his brother’s involvement, not when Aldric tracked him down in the human realm.

Aldric had always hated and coveted his things. He must have killed Islinda to get back at him for allegedly stealing his position. The Fae realm was cutthroat and only the strongest would rule the kingdom of Astaria, not the eldest, or else his brother Theodore would have been the crown prince.

However, Aldric claimed to be the strongest when everyone in the kingdom knew he was only strong thanks to his dark magic. Neither could they crown a dark Fae as king, that would be an abomination! It has never been done and evil would never win over good.

Aldric was barely tolerated because he had royal blood, but not anymore. Valerie had never reacted to his provocations because Aldric was worth nothing in his sight. He was nothing but dirt that he would wipe away the surface of the earth once he was king. Aldric crossed the line by taking away Islinda and he would pay dearly for it.

The thought of revenge distracted him and he almost didn’t hear Derek say, "And he has company."

"Company?" His brows furrowed with suspicion until suddenly, his heart raced with hope.

Valerie turned to his guard, "What do you mean by company?" He swallowed nervously, "By chance, you don’t mean -"

"It’s a Fae," Derek announced and his face fell at once.

For a moment there, Valerie thought Aldric had somehow preserved Islinda’s life and brought her to Astaria to torment him. Aldric was known to play games and this was not the first time he had been a victim of it. His psychopathic brother derived joy from stealing his happiness.

Nonetheless, he was still curious, "What Fae?" Valerie asked intrigued and concerned. What Fae in her right mind would be his brother’s date? Either the Fae was not right in the mind or had been threatened into the role. He bet the latter.

"I have no idea. So far, we have no record of her and Aldric provided no form of identification except theories she’s a very distant relative and of which I have no doubt might not be accurate. Although she has the features of the winter court."

"Hmmm," Valerie rubbed his jaw thoughtfully. His agenda was dealing with Valerie tonight and the plans had already been set in place - his brother might have a bit of a setback returning safely to his residence later - but the emergence of an unfamiliar Fae bothered him. What was the fool planning?

"We should leave, your highness. The party has gone on for too long and everyone awaits your presence." Derek announced.

Valerie nodded to that and walked out of his chambers, finally making it to the ballroom. He stood at the top of the stairs, examining the crowd and looking for a certain Fae. He didn’t have to look for long because Aldric was staring right at him, and Valerie straightened up, appearing bigger and taller.

Aldric smirked at him before lifting a cupcake to acknowledge his presence and took a greedy bite out of it. Valerie’s lips pressed into a thin line knowing he was intentionally trying to provoke him. His mind thought back to the Fae that acknowledged him and wondered where she was.

His gaze was about to connect with a certain figure when a hand touched his shoulder.

"Isn’t that my pride, Valerie?"

His mother, Queen Maeve appeared and Valerie quickly communicated to Derek to leave them. With his mother around, he didn’t want the Fae hovering around and for him to finish off their secret arrangement.

None of his family members knows of his plans for Aldric tonight. Even if they do investigate the attack, it wouldn’t be traced back to him. Moreover, this was not the first time Aldric has been attacked. The Faeries of Astaria are not comfortable with his presence, he was an evil that needed to be eliminated.

"Mother." Valerie smiled at her. If there was anyone in the world he loved intensely like Islinda, it was his mother. She had made many sacrifices for him to be in this position.

She stared at him with pride.

"It’s a pity your older brothers are not able to attend your party tonight, not that they would be missed," The disdain was obvious in her tone, "But half of the kingdom is here for you. They are ecstatic to meet their crown prince, and it is not a crime that I walk my son down the stairs."

"Of course, anything for the queen of this nation. " Valerie indulged her. He looped his arm around her and together, they marched down.

Trained to be a prince, Valerie was used to the attention and didn’t shy away as all eyes were on them. However, Valerie couldn’t hold on to the queen for too long because there were many guests to greet, leaving the queen no choice but to move ahead. Her son, the future king, was the star of the occasion, not her.

And that was when it happened, the little commotion that he had no doubt had to do with Aldric. Valerie knew Aldric would cause a problem in his party and had been prepared for it. He braced himself for his underhanded attack only that it was a Fae.

A Fae female had barreled into him and he had no choice but to reach out and save her like the prince charming he was. However, he did not expect that the breath would be knocked out of his lungs the instant he set his eyes on her.

He had never felt this sizzling attraction for anyone else but Islinda.

Noo.....

He stepped back.

Was this Aldric’s plan? What wretched magic has he used this time?
