MATED TO THE BEAST ALPHA BROTHERS
Chapter 59: Beginning of the end.

Chapter 59: Beginning of the end.

"Where is Nemesis?"

The moment Haelyn stepped through the portal, all eyes snapped to her.

She barely had time to breathe before the questions started.

"Where is she?" Artemis demanded, stepping forward, his twin Archer right beside him.

Rowena’s eyes scanned Haelyn from head to toe, looking for any sign of injury. "Did she escape?"

Even the Omnisciense wolves stood rigid, their powerful presence only adding to the weight in the air. The Wolf King himself stood tall at the center, his golden eyes unreadable.

Haelyn exhaled sharply. "She retreated."

A murmur rippled through the gathered warriors, disbelief and tension thick in the air. Nemesis never retreated. She was the one who hunted, the one who conquered. The idea of her running was unheard of.

Cerius narrowed his gaze, stepping closer. "And why would she do that?" His voice was calm but laced with something sharp...something knowing.

Seraphis, beside him, nodded in agreement. "Nemesis fights until the death. The only thing she would ever run from is..."

"Keres," Haelyn finished, meeting the elders’ eyes.

A heavy silence settled over the camp.

No one doubted her words. Keres was real. Keres had returned.

The Wolf King inhaled deeply, his expression unreadable. But something flickered in his eyes...regret.

"She was inside you again," he said, more a statement than a question.

Haelyn clenched her fists. "Yes."

Archer was beside her in an instant, his hand finding hers, strong and warm. His voice was gentle but firm. "Are you okay?"

She nodded, though the weight of Keres’ power still pulsed beneath her skin. "I’m fine. But Nemesis isn’t. She was terrified."

Xander let out a low whistle. "Nemesis, afraid? That’s... new."

Ravi frowned. "We all saw Keres at the council hall. But she did seem stronger than she had been in the past. But How could she suddenly be powerful enough to make Nemesis retreat?"

Seraphis crossed his arms. "Because Haelyn carries something Keres never had before."

Rowena arched a brow. "And what’s that?"

Cerius answered. "A second chance." His ancient gaze landed on Haelyn. "Keres died full of rage, vengeance, and betrayal. She was robbed of her life, forced into a bond with a man who destroyed her. But now, she’s back, and she’s not just fighting for herself...she’s fighting through you."

The Wolf King finally stepped forward, his presence commanding absolute silence. "I need to speak with her."

Haelyn’s breath hitched. "What?"

His golden eyes burned into hers. "Keres. I need to see her."

Archer’s grip on Haelyn’s hand tightened instinctively, his protective instincts flaring. "You saw her already," he said cautiously. "At the council hall."

The Wolf King shook his head. "That wasn’t enough. I need to speak with her alone. She’s the only one who can help us defeat Nemesis."

Haelyn’s heart pounded. She knew what he wasn’t saying aloud. He regretted it. Pushing Keres into a marriage with Zareth, turning his only daughter into a weapon, never listening to her when she begged to be free.

And now, after all these years, after her death and her return, he wanted to make things right.

Haelyn exhaled. "I don’t control when she takes over."

Archer immediately stepped in, his arm slipping around Haelyn’s waist in a quiet show of support. "Then we need to find another way," he said firmly, his blue eyes locking onto the Wolf King’s.

The air was thick with unspoken tension.

Cerius exchanged glances with Seraphis. "If Keres truly wants revenge, she’ll come. But the question is, will she come as our ally..."

Seraphis finished the thought, his voice grim. "Or as our executioner?"

Silence.

Haelyn swallowed hard.

She didn’t have the answer.

And that was the scariest part of all.

The moment Haelyn finally held her child, the air around her shifted.

The war. The blood. The endless suffering...none of it mattered.

All that existed was him.

His tiny body was warm against her, his breaths soft, rhythmic. His fingers, barely the size of hers, curled against her chest as if claiming her.

My son.

Marlyil smiled faintly, stepping back. "He’s been waiting for you, Haelyn."

Haelyn’s throat tightened. She had left him. Not because she wanted to, but because she had no choice. She had chased ghosts and power while he had been growing, breathing, waiting.

Her hands trembled as she pressed a kiss to his forehead.

Archer was beside her in an instant, his arm wrapping around her waist, his lips brushing her temple. "He looks just like you."

Haelyn let out a breathless laugh. "Let’s hope he has your patience."

Archer’s grip on them tightened. "I will never let anything happen to him."

A presence stirred in the room. The Omnisciense.

They had been silent, watching, waiting. But now, their leader, Morgath, stepped forward. His voice was deep, heavy with power.

"His blood is rare."

The warmth in Haelyn’s chest froze.

Morgath’s gaze locked onto hers, unreadable. "He is not just an Alpha. He is something beyond that."

Seraphis nodded, stepping closer. "He carries both your power and Archer’s, making him... unstoppable."

Rowena frowned. "Unstoppable?"

Morgath exhaled. "There has never been a child like him. Not in all of history."

The air in the room grew thick.

Haelyn’s hold on her child tightened.

Archer tensed beside her. "What does that mean?"

Seraphis exchanged glances with the others. "It means Nemesis will never stop hunting him."

The room went silent.

Morgath’s voice dropped lower. "She doesn’t just want him dead. She wants to use him."

Haelyn’s pulse spiked.

"For what?" she demanded.

Morgath’s silver eyes gleamed. "A sacrifice of power."

Haelyn’s breath caught.

Archer’s fingers dug into her waist. "Over my dead body."

Morgath’s gaze was unwavering. "She is not after you, Haelyn. She is after him. And unless we act now, she will succeed."

Haelyn pressed her lips against her son’s forehead. "She will never touch him."

The energy in the air crackled.

A sudden rustling sound outside the room made everyone go still.

Footsteps. Fast. Desperate.

And then...Nyx.

She stumbled in, breathless, her face pale with fear. Blood dripped from a deep gash on her arm.

Her eyes locked onto Haelyn’s.

"I need help," she gasped. "He’s going to kill me."

The Omnisciense stiffened.

Artemis was the first to step forward. "Who are you talking about?"

Nyx clutched her wound. "My father, he’s gone mad for power."

The air grew cold.

Morgath’s expression darkened. "He’s trying to perform a sacrifice of fate"

Nyx’s voice was hoarse, shaking. " And Something worse."

A low, guttural howl echoed from the distance.

Not wolf. Not human.

Something else.

Morgath’s expression was unreadable. "He’s releasing them."

The room fell silent.

Haelyn knew.

This wasn’t just war anymore.

This was the beginning of the end.
