MATED TO THE BEAST ALPHA BROTHERS
Chapter 54: Nemesis.

Chapter 54: Nemesis.

"They wished for me not to exist..."

A voice as dark as the abyss echoed across the vast, lifeless plains.

"Now, I will conquer them all and rule these lands."

A chilling laugh followed, rich with venom and promise.

The woman stood tall, her presence swallowing the moonlight. Her skin was midnight, her eyes twin pools of endless darkness, her gown flowing like shadows woven into fabric.

Behind her, an army...millions of cursed rogue wolves.

Their eyes burned with a soulless glow.

Their bodies, scarred and twisted by dark magic, stood motionless...waiting.

Then...

One stepped forward. Larger than the rest. Its fur was matted with old blood, its snarl deep and guttural.

"We await your command, Nemesis."

A wicked smirk stretched across her lips.

"Then let havoc reign."

The rogue wolves bowed, howling into the night.

And across the lands...death began its march.

Arthur panted, his body slick with sweat and blood. Tiago lay motionless before him, his throat ripped out, a pool of crimson spreading beneath his lifeless body.

It was over.

Or so he thought.

"Hah! Oh, Arthur... you poor fool."

Keres’ laughter rang through the air like a song of pure malice.

Arthur barely had time to react before...

Tiago’s body twitched.

Then his fingers curled.

And then...

His eyes snapped open.

But they weren’t his.

They glowed, a deep abyssal black, void of anything human.

Arthur’s heart slammed against his ribs.

Tiago stood up, slowly, unnaturally. Like a marionette pulled upright by invisible strings.

Arthur’s fingers curled into fists. "What did you do to him?"

Keres smirked. "How do you feel about my one-man army?" She tilted her head, eyes gleaming. "Shall I make more?"

Tiago moved like a predator, head tilted slightly, a cruel smirk creeping up his face. Then...

He lunged.

Arthur barely had time to block before Tiago’s hand wrapped around his throat, lifting him clean off the ground.

"Argh...!"

Arthur clawed at Tiago’s grip, his legs kicking as air vanished from his lungs.

"No!"

Layla’s desperate scream rang out. She struggled against her bindings, eyes wide in horror. "Please...stop! Let him go!"

"Oh, shut it!"

Keres thundered.

A single flick of her wrist sent Layla flying, her body slamming into the cold, hard ground. She coughed, pain lancing through her ribs.

"You’re pathetic!" Keres sneered. "Begging? Crying? You think that’ll save him?"

Layla gasped, trying to crawl forward, but the shadows held her down.

Arthur gasped, vision blurring.

His body was screaming for air.

Tiago’s grip tightened.

And for the first time in a long, long time..

Arthur felt helpless.

The Wolf King was in a Dilemma

"Your Highness!"

The heavy doors to the grand hall slammed open.

The Wolf King stood at the center, his expression hard, his mind already burdened by too many battles.

"What is it now?" His voice was sharp, edged with frustration.

His second-in-command bowed briefly. "Wolves are being slaughtered across the lands. It started with small packs of omegas, but now..." He hesitated. "Even alpha packs are being wiped out."

The King’s heart stilled.

"Who?"

"We don’t know. They leave nothing behind. No survivors. No bodies...just blood."

The Wolf King turned away, his mind racing.

Keres wasn’t even the biggest threat anymore.

Something far worse was at play.

"I need to see the Omniscience."

The massacre had began

Across the lands...

Rogue wolves descended like a merciless storm.

Their claws tore through fur and flesh.

Their fangs ripped through warriors, through mothers shielding their pups, through elders too weak to run.

Their howls weren’t of hunger...

But of pure slaughter.

Nemesis stood amidst the carnage, watching.

Her lips curled into a smile.

"Kill them all."

Blood splattered her gown.

She licked her lips.

"Not a single one is to be left alive."

And the wolves obeyed.

"Find the boy. Kill anyone who gets in your way."

Nemesis’ voice was cold, sharp as a blade, slicing through the howling winds. Her rogue wolves moved like a tidal wave of death, pouring into Cerius’s pack lands, burning, slaughtering, destroying.

But her focus...her hunger...was for one thing alone.

The child.

Marlyil clutched the newborn boy to her chest, his tiny breaths warm against her skin. Fear surged through her veins, but she couldn’t let it consume her. Not now.

A deafening snarl erupted behind her.

Marlyil spun, her heart lurching.

A massive rogue wolf, its eyes soulless and glowing red, lunged at her.

She barely dodged, gripping the baby tighter as she ran.

She was a fighter but She knew that,

If she stayed, she would die. The child would die.

Her only option...run.

"She’s running with the child!"

A rogue wolf howled the alarm.

Nemesis’ eyes darkened, her smirk twisting into a snarl.

"The child is mine at all cost!" she roared. "GET ME THE BOY!"

The ground shook as her wolves charged after Marlyil, their growls ripping through the night.

Marlyil pushed herself faster, branches slashing at her skin as she fled through the thick forest. Her lungs burned, her legs ached, but she didn’t stop.

The baby’s soft whimper sent a fresh wave of determination through her.

I will protect you, she vowed. Even if it kills me.

The river’s edge was just ahead,

Marlyil burst through the trees...

And stopped dead.

A wide, raging river stretched before her, its waters dark and violent.

Her heart plummeted.

No...

There was no way across.

The wolves were closing in. She could hear them, smell their bloodlust.

She turned, pressing the baby closer to her chest.

Her breath caught.

Nemesis stood just a few feet away, her long dark gown flowing like liquid shadows, her army a sea of death behind her.

A wicked smile curled her lips.

"Nowhere left to run, little girl."

Marlyil tightened her grip on the child, stepping back until her heels nearly touched the water’s edge.

"Stay away," she warned, her voice shaking but firm.

Nemesis chuckled darkly. "Or what?"

She stepped forward.

"Give me the child, and I might let you live."

Marlyil glared. "Over my dead body."

Nemesis’ smirk widened. "If you insist."

She lifted her hand...

The rogue wolves charged.

Marlyil braced herself.

This is it.

The sky split open

Just as the wolves were about to strike..

A blinding light erupted from the sky. Lightening strikes across the sky silentl

The air hummed with an energy unlike anything Marlyil had ever felt.

Then ..

They descended.

Figures of pure light, their forms shifting between wolves and celestial beings, their eyes burning with an ethereal glow.

Nemesis staggered back, shielding her eyes from the brightness.

"What..."

The beings landed between Marlyil and the rogues, their presence so powerful that the earth itself trembled.

Nemesis’ wolves hesitated, whimpering.

One of the celestial wolves turned its gaze on Marlyil. Its voice was like an echo of a thousand souls.

"Fear not, child. You are under our protection."

Then, without warning...

They attacked.

The rogue wolves never stood a chance.

The angelic beings moved like streaks of pure light, tearing through Nemesis’ army with impossible speed and precision. One swipe of their claws turned enemies to ash.

Screams and howls of agony filled the night.

Nemesis snarled, her fists clenching.

"Retreat!" she bellowed. "NOW!"

The remaining rogues scrambled away, vanishing into the darkness.

Nemesis glared at the celestial beings, her expression unreadable. Then, with a final, seething look at the child in Marlyil’s arms...

She turned and disappeared into the shadows.

Marlyil fell to her knees, gasping for breath.

The celestial wolves surrounded her, their glow slowly fading. One stepped forward, lowering its head to meet her gaze.

"The war has begun."

Marlyil swallowed hard.

The child whimpered against her chest.

She looked down at him...

And a single, terrifying thought struck her.

Who was this child, truly, for even the gods to fight over him?
